First, check your trigger warnings! This book dives deep into the 20-year childish feud of Rory and Rist. You get a better understanding of their relationship for 20 years in the Mortal Kings Army! Their banter, tension, and everything in between. You get a close-up look at the characters of Frost! The banter is bantering. Their feud is fueled by anger and lust! Must read after frost before Thorn!
Thanks to E.D Lee for providing me a copy of Sterling! I really enjoyed reading this Novella and getting the back story behind the characters from their past and seeing where it all started! Great Fantasy series you def want to check out!
It is an understatement to say that I am a fan of Sterling. This book was exceptional! I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter. The dialogue and the dominance Sterling embodies are remarkable. I appreciated the character development and the multiple perspectives that vividly bring the world to life. I eagerly anticipate reading more.
I absolutely loved this book!! Being able to see “Frost” from the other characters eyes was an absolute dream!! I loved watching Cierian grow into the man he is ❤️ Of course in true Ella Fashion she breaks your heart but it’s absolutely worth it!!! Walking through the pasta of characters you both love and hate, being there with them during the highs and lows. Between Love and Loathe… Ella absolutely builds the world with her readers in mind. The detail, the descriptions, the feeling of the characters. It is like you are standing there with them in the moment. Thank you for yet another amazing read ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m often wary of prequels, but I absolutely devoured this one. The author suggests reading it after the first book, Frost, and I think that would be perfect. However, I read it after the second book, and that placement worked wonderfully, too.
This prequel beautifully blends familiar characters with parts of the story you don’t yet know, adding depth and intrigue to the series. It’s easily one of the best prequels I’ve ever read. I’m already looking forward to the next book!
More background to frost and what led up to that story! It shows the struggle of sterling (rist) with trying to be in the guard to get to the point of trying to save his brother. It shows the struggle of rory (aurora) trying to get ahead with being a woman in the gaurd.
The sacrifices of trying to do ones job but save in secret because it hurt to go against one's kind.
Spice and romance that's not icky and makes sense!
I LOVED this deep dive. There is a time jump in Frost, necessary to get to the story. Sterling covers that time jump and it is GOOD. You learn more about the characters and really start to understand them more. A great read!
Sterling dives deep into Rory and Rist’s 20-year feud. It’s full of banter, tension, and sparks that are equal parts anger and lust. It gives so much context to Frost and makes their rivalry even more intense.
Seeing Sterling struggle with duty and Rory fighting to prove herself adds real depth, and the romance/spice lands perfectly. A must-read before Thorn!
