Eileen Caddy (1917-2006) is known worldwide as one of the three founders of the Findhorn Foundation in the north of Scotland. The books that have flowed from her inspiration have drawn multitudes to the Findhorn Community. In the recent, expanded edition of her autobiography, Eileen updated her story to record the events--and emotions--of some fifteen years. She emerges as a powerful elderwoman who frees herself from the aura of her charismatic ex-husband Peter whom she still loves. In doing so, she learns the true nature of forgiveness, overcoming the issues of jealousy, hatred and doubt involved in the break-up of a marriage for which she had, under God's guidance, sacrificed everything. Readers will be struck by the analogy with the biblical Job, how someone who has lost everything, wealth, position, family, can yet have them restored by God. In her own person, Eileen Caddy, divinely ordinary as she describes herself, has pushed the limits of the ordinary person's experience to the very borders of the Kingdom of God.
Admittedly I dont give many reviews but this book was so moving that I feel compelled to review it.
Flight into Freedom and Beyond is an incredible story of the life of Eileen Caddy, co-founder of the Findhorn centre in Scotland. Eileen is a remarkable person who found her god within. Written with insight and love it is both an inspiring and beautiful story as she shares the personal details of her life, her trials, and her tribulations. She shows us what it means to follow ones heart, and the mystical experiences and healing that she experienced on her life path are a testament to that.
Just reading this book is a healing experience as Eileen and her co-author weaves the energy and love of the Christ consciousness into the narrative. Her work and what was asked of her to anchor the Christ light here and to awaken others to their God Self opens the heart and inspires faith that all that happens is part of a plan grander than we could ever imagine.
If You feel even an inkling to read it then I cannot recommend it highly enough.
So inspirational to read Eileen Caddy's autobiography of her life and the birth of the Findhorn Community. Her spiritual practice of listening to the "still voice within," was the foundation for the collaboration that would become a beautiful ecovillage. Fascinating journey of what is possible when humans unite in spiritual practice.
I was living at Findhorn when this book was first published in 1988. Eileen's guidance and her story had meant so very much to me, part of what led me to join the community.
