Playing the Part

Rate this book
How do you begin to tell a story about the one time you got dumped, lost your dad (traumatically, I might add), lost your job, got a new job as an NHL mascot, and met the worst man ever who happened to be your new neighbor and coworker?

You don't. You just do it. And hopefully, with pizzazz. My journey isn't easy, simply put, it’s hell. But now it's hell on ice skates, which I have never worn before. Wish me luck.

I received a beta copy for this book❤️

This is the authors debut novel and let me just say it’s full of hilarious sarcasm and banter that my cheeks are still hurting!

The plot to this book is perfection. It’s fast paced and packed to the brim with a great storyline. The FMC is running away from traumatic history in her hometown life and ends up finding an NHL mascot job position to fulfill that moves her away to a fresh start. This is the perfect job for her. She’s outgoing and hilarious so she overachieves the requirements needed with flying colors. Everyone on the team including management loves her. But there’s one man, the captain of the team and her new neighbor, that really gets her fired up. The forbiddeness, the hatred, the true secret behind all those feelings 😏 turns into hot, scorching chemistry quick! He was everything she needed and more. Someone to help her succeed and heal all her past traumas by just love in itself.

“Elias, does this make us furry people?”

I can’t wait for book 2!

Got to beta read this and it was so god damn funny!!! The banter & arguments were top tier. The “f*ck it” moment was CHEFS KISS. These two were absolutely everything & so great. While this is a silly goofy perfect amount of cringe rom com it still deals with some heavy topics (read the TW) and did so amazingly I cried.. one minute I’m laughing my ass off the next I’m sobbing. A fantastic debut novel IMO🫶🏻

4.5 🌟

This book was hilarious and so awkward but in all the best ways. I totally appreciate that the author gave the heads up that this was an over the top rom com style book so you knew that going into it. I truly think her mission was to make you cringe and laugh out loud as many times as possible and IT WORKED!

Books are meant to be fun and to make you feel things and this book brought out so many emotions. It dealt with some really heavy childhood trauma while incorporating support and some super sweet moments between the MMC and FMC.

Their meet cute was adorable and everything was fast paced and made for such an easy read. The hockey team and crew were like ridiculously supportive of the FMC and they all seemed like such a fun bunch. I haven’t had this much fun reading a book in awhile. I love a fellow goober! 😂
