When the Scott family gathers on the beautiful Marco Island to celebrate their mother’s 65th birthday, six sisters feign happiness in the face of their mother’s “predictions” and their father’s poor health. But each sister is followed by their own problems, causing a tangled mess of drama thinly veiled behind fake smiles.
Lorry’s daughter blames her for the divorce between her parents.
Nicole is a cancer survivor grappling with being unable to conceive and her husband’s reluctance to adopt.
Stephanie faces the anxiety of her husband wanting more children to add to their picture-perfect family.
Ashley and her husband struggle with IVF and the stress of managing a successful new restaurant together.
Hannah is overwhelmed with the plans for her wedding to her cardiologist fiancé, leaving her to brush off her family’s poking and prodding.
Meanwhile, Jessica aches to finally set a wedding date with her fiancé Trent, who seems hesitant to commit.
In an emotionally charged tale of family, romance and womanhood, six sisters must wade through their complicated lives to save their family from crumbling.
“Gran always says that secrets fester and end relationships,”
And a lot of siblings with accumulated spouses and ex spouses and kids have all descended on the family homestead on Marco Island to celebrate their Mother's birthday.
There are secrets to keep and secrets being kept. The characters show themselves in flashes but no one knows the biggest secret of all, that ends the prequel and opens the door for the series.
A new author for me,I look forward to the unfurling story of the Scott family. Highly recommended 5/5
[ Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
I thoroughly enjoyed this prequel to what I believe will be a very powerful and emotional series following the lives of six sisters and their families. It is evident that each sister has joys and challenges ahead that will test their strengths and bonds. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
I received this book directly from the author. I read and reviewed it by choice and am providing my honest opinion.
I am so excited about this series! I'm a new reader to Rose Ryan and already a fan and hooked on this series. The prequel was a wonderful way to meet everyone and it sets up the Scott sister's family saga nicely. Love the writing style and the different storylines. There will be heartache, tension, romance, sweetness and love, women's fiction at it's finest. This series is going to be quite the emotional journey and I can't wait!
Jess Scott breaks off her engagement with Trent her boyfriend as he was not keen on commitments. She moves back home to Marco Island and there she meets T J Beanford a FBI agent. Their love for art brings them together but nearly ruin their relationship with Trent coming back. A great and enjoyable read with a lot of suspense. I received this ARC copy and leave a honest review . I recommend this book to other readers.
An easy book to read giving the background into the Scott family who own Scott’s Hotel, a landmark hotel on Marco Island. A chapter is dedicated to each of the six sisters, describing a little about their relationships with their partners and their ‘backstories’ as they prepare to gather for their mother’s birthday party. I received a free copy via a Bookfunnel promotion and this is my honest opinion.
I found this really lame. I was introduced to the characters/sisters and a gathering for Mom's birthday. Two days later, Dad has a heart attack and the book is over. I feel that I didn't even connect with any of the characters before the book was over. Ok, I get it-it is the prequel. It should have been part of a book to let the reader feel like a part of the story. The best part was Grandma Nelly.
This was a great introduction to the Scott sisters. We get to know them a bit as they come together for their mother's birthday party. What I wasn't fond of was that to me it felt like it came to an abrupt end. I wanted a bit more reaction from the sisters not just Steph. Overall though, a wonderful read and a great set up for the series!
Great prequel to what I feel is going to be a great series. The whole family comes together at the family home in Marco Island for mom's birthday. We see some insight as each sister is traveling home or is already there and their relationships. Tragedy strikes and I think it's going to shape how every sister lives her life from that day on.
This is a new author for me, suggested by a friend. I really think I am going to enjoy her. This prequel begins with the story of Nicole and her sisters and the present day.
Let's start following Rose with Nicole's story. And let's start following Rose Ryan.
I received this ARC and am leaving my honest review.
A short book about a family with all girls. The family is getting together for Mother's birthday. They all seem to have some major problems in their lives that they don't share with the family. No memorable character appears in this short book. It leaves you hanging at the end in hopes you will purchase the next book hoping to see some or all the problems solved.
makes you want more I´ve read books from Amy Rafferty before and I´ve always enjoyed them. This Prequel is a clever appetizer that gets you hooked and wants to to find out more about the family relationships and secrets of the Scott sisters.
Recommend to all who want to read the series on the Scott family daughters. It provides the marriage problems they are facing and hiding from their parents and siblings. It ends with the death of their father, after the prediction of their grandmother.
This is about the Scott sisters. Each sister is going through a difficult time in their lives. They arrive on Marco Island for a 65th birthday party for their mom. Everything changes for them the day after the party.
I don't know what I was expecting when I picked this book up. The blows that came had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Now, I want to stop reading everything on my list and delve into this series. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
What a great beginning to a series. This prequel was so interesting and intense, I can't wait to read the rest of the books.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A wonderful introduction to the Scott sisters and their stories. I can’t wait to read about each sister and her challenges. I am anxious to read how they are resolved.
