This book is an informative book about Multiple Sclerosis and it also shows a first-hand glimpse at my life with MS. It will take you from the diagnosis to support groups. From usual Multiple Sclerosis symptoms to unusual symptoms. This is your one-stop book for all of your Multiple Sclerosis information. I tried to cover every question I had when I first got diagnosed. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed getting to share my MS journey.
As someone living with MS, this book felt like a warm, understanding hug. It’s both informative for those of us navigating this journey and perfect for anyone wanting to understand it better. Thank you so much for sharing this with me, Tara 🧡 It truly means a lot.
What a compelling and an informative read! I do not have MS and I only knew a few things about this health issue but after reading this it has shed so much light on this topic. The author Tara Fetcko is a strong warrior who may have MS but will not be a victim to this terrible disease. We need more people’s voices like Tara to shed light on health issues to show someone that they are not alone in their struggle.
As a 27 year old who had an accident this past year and has a neck and back injury this read was incredibly relatable. One thing that resonated with me the most while reading this was Tara speaking about how when you are stunted with a disease or injury or any kind of health problem it’s difficult to be able to do things on a whim. I was a workaholic and social butterfly my whole life. This past year has been a struggle and adjustment for me getting used to a “new normal”. It’s important to have people around you who do understand you and can understand that life looks a bit different for you nowadays because of something completely out of your control. One thing this book shared as a hard lesson I learned this past year was that everything goes day by day and we must be kind to ourselves , bodies , and minds. Just because you were unable to do something yesterday doesn’t mean you won’t be able to do it today.
Thank you so much to Tara for allowing me to read her story. You are a light in this world and I hope everyone can learn something from your story.
The only non-fiction sub-genre that I read is memoir and I had never read one on health issues before so this book was a welcome change.
This book is about the author and her tryst with multiple sclerosis. This is an informative guide to the disease and how different individuals are affected by it differently. On some days, everything flows like a breeze while on the others, even getting out of bed is a task. Plans might sometimes not fall through because the disease acts up. The trick of the trade is to take one day at a time.
This short book is very educational as the author has penned down the definitions, possible causes, current treatments and future developments related to MS. If you are looking to better understand the disease, this informative POV of the person who is actually suffering from it is helpful.
This is a must read book for people who have been diagnosed with MS, love someone with MS, or just want to know more. Tara educates readers about MS and options that they have when it comes to diagnosis, treatments, and support. Not only is this book informative, but Tara Fetcko shares her personal journey with MS. I appreciated her honesty and beautiful writing. Absolute Five Star read.
I thought Tara’s guide to MS was informative and heartfelt. A good guide for family and friends struggling to understand the symptoms of the disease. Also a great guide for someone newly diagnosed.
This was so comprehensive without being overwhelming, educational with no danger of being boring and easily accessible. It was a quick read and yet was able to touch on so many elements of MS and the journey of diagnosis. Thank you for sharing. This would be an invaluable read for anyone touched by MS.
It’s so moving when a story pulls back the curtain like that. Reading about Tara’s journey really lets you feel the weight of what people with MS carry every day—often completely out of sight.
It’s one thing to hear the name of a disease, but it’s another to realize the sheer bravery it takes just to wake up and face a body that feels like a stranger. For many, the hardest part isn't just the physical pain; it's the uncertainty. Living with MS means never knowing if tomorrow will be a "good day" or if your own nerves will decide to go quiet on you.
That "invisible" struggle is what makes stories like hers so vital.
Wow this story really hit home for me with a friend that deals with MS and seeing just how much she deals with. I don’t have known muscle issues but I do have some form of muscular weakness and it’s a daily struggle..
Tara Fetco's "Dear MS, Why Me?" offers a raw, personal, and educational dive into the life-altering experience of living with multiple sclerosis (MS). The author, with heartfelt honesty, takes readers on a journey through her diagnosis and subsequent struggles, using her personal story as a vehicle to provide both insight and comfort to others facing similar challenges.
The openness in describing the emotional journey—especially grappling with the frustration of invisible illness and the impact on relationships—is powerful. Her candid reflection on how MS redefines life, the compromises it forces, and the ways she copes, allows readers to connect deeply with her story. The book’s strength lies in its vulnerability, with the author sharing not only moments of strength but also the heavy toll that MS takes on mental health, from battling depression to seeking therapy as a vital lifeline.
What is also notable is her emphasis on the importance of a support system, especially her deep gratitude for her husband. Her honest portrayal of their relationship, and the shift from independence to relying heavily on him as a "care-partner," resonates on a deeply human level.
This work stands out because it strikes the ideal mix between an insightful personal story and thoroughly researched, useful information. This book is an invaluable resource for anybody attempting to understand multiple sclerosis (MS) as the author not only shares her personal struggles but also educates the reader on the medical elements of the illness. For those dealing with MS personally or helping a loved one, the author offers a concise and easy-to-read handbook that covers everything from symptoms like the "MS hug" and cognitive issues to therapy alternatives.
Ms. Fetcko writes about her experience with MS, Multiple Sclerosis. She starts with a trove of information about both the disease, and its treatment. The information is very valuable to anyone facing this disease, as well as those supporting them (both family and friends). The second part of the book shines more for me. It is about Tara's personal experience, going from pre-diagnosis all the way to the time of writing. It would be improper for me to say I enjoyed reading it, because that isn't the goal. However, I felt the pull of the emotional and physical journey she has been through. Dear MS, Why Me? is a very short, but quite compelling read.
(Ms. Fetcko asked me to read the book, and provided a digital copy for me.)
Tara gives really great information about the disease itself, how it’s diagnosed, and the different medications used to help manage symptoms and disease progression.
She then goes into her story and journey with MS. She talks about how she was diagnosed, all the ways it affected her life, and the struggles she experienced and still goes through since.
I myself suffer with an autoimmune disease so when I was presented with the opportunity to read and review her books on her journey with her disease, I jumped on it! The more people who are informed on these invisible diseases, the more compassion we can have for one another. You never know what someone is going through!
Having a family member with Multiple Sclerosis, I felt that I was pretty informed on the disease and how it affected to the body. I am happy to say that by reading this book, I learned so much more about what my Mama goes through and some things that I could pass on to my Mama. This book was so much more informative than I thought it would be and I am glad for that. With the new knowledge I have gained, I am hoping that I might be able to discuss my findings with my Mama and possibly try some new treatments.
So I went into this not knowing much about this disease, but Tara so elegantly talks about all of the stages from beginning to end that cover so many questions you could have. I definitely recommend this to anyone suffering as well as friends and families of those who suffer. Knowledge is power!
I know someone, who I don’t like very much, who is a carrier for MS. His fiancé had a miscarriage and when their doctor tested the baby for MS, it was a positive result. Knowing that they still want to try again is such a scary and brave thing. This book was very insightful!
Thank you, Tara, for sharing both your experience and the facts surrounding the disease! My heart goes out to you and how terrifying the diagnosis must have been all while during COVID restrictions. I learned so much about how this disease affects the body, and I have a newfound respect for those living with this invisible yet debilitating disease.
This was very informative and interesting to me as I have a relative with MS and didn’t know very much about it. I love that the author stressed the importance of a support system and shared her personal experience.
This book was both informative and vulnerable. The data provided alongside Tara’s heartfelt point of view helped me gain knowledge on the subject and gave me a better understanding of people living with MS.
Tara Fetcko’s “Dear MS, Why Me?” is both informative and personal; it reads somewhat like a handbook, providing listicles that hit all the important points and offer a basic awareness of the complex disease known as MS. I appreciate that Tara has included a chapter on her own journey as part of the report. This helps the reader to better understand the whole experience of MS—from the shock and horror of initial diagnosis to the treatment and management phase. It gives us a fuller picture of how MS affects the whole person: physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. I’ve learned quite a few new things reading “Dear MS, Why Me?” and you should too!
Dear MS, Why me? is a very informative and interesting non-fiction read. If you’d like a quick read that explains all things MS, this is it. You will learn what MS is, how it’s diagnosed, how the symptoms are treated, along with tons of other information related to MS. You will also follow Tara’s journey to learning she has MS and the strain it causes on her and the ones she loves. You will see how life altering MS can be and what you need to do to get through it the best you can because there’s no cure. This book will help you better understand MS and the people diagnosed with it. Dear MS, Why Me? is a book I will recommend.
Tara has written a very compelling and informative book. Her book is a very informative guide to the disease and shows you how an individual is affected by this in different manners. This book gives an understanding of how a person suffering from MS deals with their everyday life. That some days everything goes normal but some days, even the smallest of tasks can’t be done.
This book might be short but Tara has written all the important causes, treatments, and things which can make an individual’s life who is suffering from MS a little better.
This was a really helpful read that gives you a very clear understanding of MS. It’s full of useful information about the disease—everything from symptoms to treatment—and also includes a brief look at Tara’s personal journey. I appreciated how straightforward and honest it was. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about multiple sclerosis.
I'm biased because I am the author, but I have read this at least 30 times, so I wanted to leave a review. This book is very informative and gives you a first-hand glimpse at my experience with Multiple Sclerosis.
I have a family member who developed MS and was recommended this book to get a better understanding. Not only does it provide a lot of helpful information, it also provides links for help. I have finished this book with a better understanding!!
An absolute must-read if you or someone you love is diagnosed with MS. It gives insights and understanding of the symptoms and issues encountered by the incurable disease.
This is a must read if you have been diagnosed, or know someone that had been diagnosed. Very informative and inspiring. Thank you Tara for informing us and sharing your story. There needs to be more books out there for people to know they are not alone.
