This is book six of the Magical Midlife Death series and Raven has to deal with rumours she may be the blood witch of prophecy, as she also has to adjust to her new life as a vampire and the new powers her magical side are receiving. Cass (Cassara) is the head of the Death Dealers, but also her trainer, and in one session with her and another rookie death dealer, Kirnen managing to nick her with his blade, makes her magic go out of control and she struggles to stop it. It is Cass that manages to surprise her as Raven creates a shroud of invisibility around herself, and the disturbance brings Rene, the vampire overseer who has taken her under his protection, to the room to see what has happened. It seems the unexpected cut has broken out some sort of dormant magic from within Raven, a former weak kitchen witch in her former coven. He has managed to uncover some of the pages of the Blood Witch prophecy and this storyline takes them to a couple more, that reveal so much more about this person and possible links to Raven and Rene. It is not the only new type of magic that Raven suddenly manages to summon or use, with the next one bringing fear to any vampires that see it. Her magic is evolving rapidly and even Rene has no idea why!
Rene tries to get her former coven head priestess, Ursula, to test her magic, and she is not happy to learn Raven has more magic than expected, including some as yet unidentified and tries to use magic against her, but fails. Dimitri is his usual obnoxious self, but now has his brother Davon returned to the fold, a notorious flirt, who Dimitri wants to put in charge of looking after Raven, which Cass isn’t exactly happy about. She has had her own experiences with Davon and doesn’t trust him at all. In the midst of all this, another vampire is found to have been killed by a strange witch’s potion which turns them into stone. There is definitely a traitor within the vampire compound, and they have more to worry about as Raven’s magic is unbound. The latter pages of the prophecy show a clear agenda of the witch’s coven of the past and possibly still the present, with the extinction of the vampire species, like the lycans years before. The truth of who from the coven is actually behind what has been happening to turn vampires to stone, is soon revealed and Rene is exposed to life threatening danger. He takes it well and instead of getting mad, he reveals details of his past and his wish to blood bond with Raven before he dies. Dimitri of course tries to take advantage of Rene’s weakened state, but he is not the one they should have worried about, as more attacks occur on the compound, and Cass is targeted.
Shocking to see what happens, as betrayal comes from both sides, and the attacks against Cass and Rene increase. Some vampires worry about Rene’s age and that he is going to go mad shortly, placing them all in danger, whilst some of the witches believe Raven is an abomination and should never have been allowed to survive being turned. Lots of action, but also romance at last between Rene and Raven, as well the arrival of Constantine, someone who Cass knows well! Can’t wait to see what will happen between those two. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Forty Deaths Till Us Part is the sixth book in Didmon's Magical Midlife Death series. This is not a standalone book. The story picks up where it left off in Forty Reasons To Die the fifth book; please start from the beginning.
I see at least one more planned book in this series, but I'm hoping there are still more to come. I love Raven and her story. (Borrowed from my review of the last book...) Without ruining it for anyone, here's a high level overview of this wonderful series: Raven, a witch in her 40s, was bitten by a rogue vampire. She should have died, but now she is the only "living" vampire with magical abilities. She's quickly become everyone's focus as there's a prophecy about a blood witch, and many think it is her. As a result, there are multiple attempts on her life. Fortunately she has the protection of the vampire overseer who is ancient, insanely powerful and almost immortal. He also happens to be super attractive and incredibly difficult to resist. As luck would have it, he has taken a liking to her. Raven also has Cassara, her mentor. She's speaks her mind, is very funny, doesn't let anyone push her around and in fact most find her highly intimidating. She can kick bottom without breaking a sweat.
This book starts with Raven's power erupting after Kirnen accidentally cut her while they were sparring. Her powers swelled and she lost control, until Cass' quick thinking. Shockingly, the power she called forward was the same one she had seen the witch use - a sort of shroud to mask her presence. It wasn't one she ever had before. As the questions regarding her abilities continued to puzzle them, she agreed to be tested by Ursula, the high priestess of her former coven. The results were surprising.
As expected, the death toll of the undead continue to rise, but the latest victim was able to send a clue before he turned to stone. In addition, Manu continued his research and seemed to locate another scroll helping to deliver more answers, along with more questions.
In addition to the action and the humour I've come to expect in this series, there were a few emotional moments in this book that helped solidify my love of both Rene and Cass. Now that we've met Constantine, I love him too! I hope he is going to stick around.
The author has once again included a preview of the next book- Forty Is The New Dead- at the end of the book, but I prefer to wait until its release. I'm really hoping that this isn't the end as I'm nowhere close to being ready to say goodbye. I need more Raven and Rene. I need more Cass and Con. I need more Janna and Isra. I need it all!
Forty Deaths Till Us Part is a thrilling, dark, and deeply emotional installment in Tia Didmon’s Magical Midlife Death series. As a fan of paranormal women’s fiction, this book hit all the right notes for me—complex characters, high stakes, and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
The story follows our protagonist, a formidable queen who is grappling with the emergence of a mysterious and powerful magic that even her closest allies begin to fear. This theme of fear and isolation is something I found particularly compelling; it taps into a universal experience of being misunderstood, even by those we trust the most. But just when you think our heroine might be pushed to the edge, a new friend steps in to remind her—and us—that there’s a reason her power has surfaced. This dynamic between fear and hope is beautifully woven throughout the book, adding depth to the characters and the world they inhabit.
The investigation into the Blood Witch is where the story really takes off. Didmon masterfully unravels startling revelations that not only propel the plot forward but also force the characters to confront difficult truths about themselves and their destinies. The prophecy that haunts our heroine adds a layer of tension that had me anxiously flipping pages, wondering what fate had in store for her and the clan.
Rene’s revelation about his past and the heroine’s role in his life is a pivotal moment in the book. The emotional weight of this truth is palpable, and it raises important questions about duty, love, and sacrifice. As someone who enjoys character-driven stories, I appreciated how Didmon handled this delicate balance. The burden that our heroine faces is immense, and her struggle to accept it—or reject it—adds a richness to the narrative that I found deeply satisfying.
For fans of authors like Shannon Mayer, K.F. Breene, and Victoria Danann, Forty Deaths Till Us Part is a must-read. Tia Didmon delivers a story that is as enchanting as it is haunting, with a protagonist you can’t help but root for, even as the shadows of Black Blossom County close in around her.
If you’re looking for a book that blends the supernatural with a deep exploration of personal strength and resilience, this is the one. The twists and turns, combined with a richly developed world and complex characters, make this book a standout in the series. I can’t wait to see where Didmon takes us next!.

Audiobook Review Overall Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5/5) Narration Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5/5) Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️ (2/5 – Lightly steamy, a few heated moments but nothing graphic)
This book starts with a bang—literally—and doesn’t let up. Tia Didmon really knows how to keep you hooked with her unique blend of vampire lore, witchy powers, and fast-paced action. From the very first chapter, I was rooting for Raven as she balanced being a hybrid queen with a prophecy hanging over her head. And the narration? Katie Hagaman absolutely killed it (pun intended). She brought Raven’s sass, Rene’s broodiness, and all the side characters to life with such ease. Also, Cass! Every scene with her snarky one-liners had me cracking up. She’s the kind of friend we all wish we had—loyal, funny, and totally unapologetic. Summary:
Raven, the hybrid queen of the vampire race, is grappling with her growing powers, a looming war, and an unsettling prophecy that casts doubts on her future. Alongside Rene, her broody yet loyal mate, she’s hunting down traitors, uncovering the truth about her magic, and figuring out what it means to lead in a world divided by blood witches, loyalty, and fear.
Add in snarky side characters, action-packed battles, and some steamy moments (without going full NSFW), and you’ve got a gripping paranormal story that keeps you on your toes.
Katie Hagaman is Amazing! Her performance made me feel every twist, every laugh, and every heartache. She captured Raven’s strength, vulnerability, and sarcasm perfectly, while Rene’s deep, brooding tone felt authentic. The side characters, especially Cass, were equally well done.
This is hands-down one of my favourite paranormal audiobooks this year! The story is action-packed, emotional, and full of humor, with a unique twist on vampire lore and witchcraft. The pacing keeps you hooked, and the characters are so dynamic you can’t help but root for them.

Unknown Magics and Unexpected Character Development
Wow - I have been away from this series for a bit and this story jumped right in to the action. This is another series I really enjoy and when reviewing, I do my best to not include spoilers and still provide some idea of what may be found. Highly suggested to read this series starting with book 1 to get a better idea of the evolution and character origins. However, this is the continuing story of Raven whom is a hybrid witch and vampire, which is unusual for her or anyone to have survived, which seemingly has removed any barriers to her abilities. Raven is already involved with the leader of the vampires, Rene, and has been training with other awesome characters, like Cass who is the senior "fighter". The humor between Cass and Raven is a wonderful way to add a human perspective while Rene keeps the moments classy. There is so much to this story with so many great characters and the author makes sure the reader gets a very real visual in the mind's eye of the places, the action and the exchange between characters. Needless to say, Raven appears to be much more powerful than even the leader of the witch's coven and her abilities along with her relationship with Rene has some of the vampires a little wary. Much more is involved although adding more may come with spoilers so instead, this is a great series written perfectly.
Raven is accidentally hit with a knife in practice fighting and a power she didn't know she had manifested. She formed a shroud around herself. Cass had to use her bolas to bring her into the here and now and get it under control. Raven agrees with Rene that she needs to take the tests the head witch wants her to undergo. After some rest she and Rene head to the coven hq. The testing shows that she has more power than the high priestess. Raven refuses to train under Ursula which sends Ursula into a snit and denounces her as part of the coven. Raven is now free to be. They return to the clan house and there she meets another vampire. Then word comes that their blacksmith has been killed. There they find something that when Raven checks leads her to tell them that she feels this mini garden is what turns them to stone. But who is growing them? Do they have a traitor within the clan? They discuss an ability that Raven had and that her daughter Jana might have. There is discussion of Jana becoming a vampire. Then some more information is learned. That leads them to a mausoleum. The information and surprising power Raven has lead them back to the coven. What they learn stuns everyone including the high priestess. Then Rene is infected. Ursula puts a lock on it but a cure needs to be found, Will that cure be found in time? Another fast tracked and fascinating story in this series.

The latest in Didimon’s Forever Forty: Rise of the Blood Witch, Magical Midlife Death Series, is just as gripping as the previous five books... I’ve enjoyed reading all of them, and love the paranormal world that the author has created. There’s plenty of action, romance, intrigue, betrayal and death in this one to keep you on edge. The twists and turns continue here, as Raven’s powers and abilities continue to develop.
One aspect that I wanted to point out is that Didimon has always been very descriptive in building this world... never more than in this segment... I really felt like I was immersed in feeling everything swirling around me as I read. We get more answers, and additional questions, regarding the lives and relationships involving Raven, Rene, Cass and now Constantine... plus more about what has happened between vampires, witches and lycans to better understand these alliances and warring factions.
I love these characters and their world, and now that Didimon has set such a vivid character platform... I can’t wait for the final book in the series to see how she wraps everything up!
I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in this genre.. the author has written a wonderful series!.

A new magic causes those around our heroine to distrust her and the unfolding prophecy does nothing to make it better. Will she be able to stick with those she cares about, or will she be the end of them all?
This is book six of the series, but it does pretty well as a standalone. Most of the essential bits are covered early on.
This is a paranormal romance story with witches, vampires, shifters and the whole lot. The story is well written and easy to read with a plot that nonetheless has a lot going on. The setting is well developed and quite intriguing, and I continue to enjoy seeing new elements of it. The characters are equally well done. I like our heroine as she is tough and smart, just the way I like them. Add in a plot with plenty of mystery and intrigue and, of course, magic. Overall, this was an excellent addition to the series and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Highly recommended.

Rene's clan has been decimated and the vampires think he is already going Mad
The answer we all searched for has been found to be true, or as true as anything when it comes to hateful and powerful world of paranormals. This book like the other 40 something books bring out a different side of vampires than we had expected. And right before the happy ending we hoped for has come and now the power of Rene is happy and though the war seems eminent, we have no idea how it will turn out. The evil Brigid is brainwashing more and more vampires and humans have no way to stand up to her power. Luckily the Vamps have discovered their Queen and her power helps restore power to those who remain loyal. I'm still loving these books, because the plots are wild and often seem crazed, and the Vamps are actually the good guys and we get to know more and more about these fantastic characters. It's cool almost frosty
Perfectly wonderful story ruined by the author. Book 1: the women are strong and independent. Cass is a badass. Raven is relatively strong and retains her sense of self. This started to decline after book 3. Cass gets more and more ineffectual and Raven becomes a prop for a ‘paranormal WOMEN’s fiction” story that is, in truth about Rene. And then in book six: Cass’ position is usurped by a man. And Raven becomes a ‘queen’ with zero power, autonomy or authority. And now on this book Cass is treated like an incompetent teenager and constantly being reprimanded. Women’s fiction this is absolutely not. I started skimming hard in book 4 because I am interested in this war and the overarching plot. But the overbearing misogyny of the author has made it impossible to continue. The women are either seamstresses, and baublemakers, corrupt power hungry villains, or props used for male ambition. It’s frankly appalling.
Truly a fantastic story. This series is absolutely amazing. Raven's journey learning a new life after death and newly acquired magical abilities. Truths come out in this story that are shocking. Tragedy strikes and some life altering decisions have to be made. The non-stop drama of politics and betrayal seem to keep everyone on edge. But the playful banter between Raven, Rene, and Cassara made me laugh out loud. For me that is a sign of an extraordinary author that knows how to entice their readers. I highly enjoyed and recommend this read. A must read story and series If you love a good Vampire romance!.

Excellent continuation of the series. Action throughout. Steam to the romance. The betrayer is reveled. The dark witch reveled also. I could feel Raven's concern about Rene and his about her after the dark witch put her plans into motion. Loved the twists. Loved the introduction of Constantine. It will be interesting what happens if anything between Cass and him. Cass and her sass was a fun to read. She knows how to lighten the mood in many ways. Loved learning more about Raven's gifts and powers. She is discovering more each story. She finds out what affect the "curse" that turns vampires into stone does to her. And it was a surprise. Can't wait for the next book.

Raven found out her many powers by the testing by Ursula and some of her powers were unusual, she was considered the blood witch. Rene and Raven found who was turning the vampires into stone, and Rene was drugged With the potion. Raven was able to save Rene and found more pages on the prophecy of the blood witch. When trying to make the antidote Brigird shot Raven with a virus that caused whitch sickness. To cure her she bonded with Renee and that also stabilized Rene. Rene’s second in command, is helping Brigid with the destroying them, Raven was able to take out Bridget and one of the vampires trying to kill her. And his seconding of hand was killed also.

Raven is the Blood Witch of prophecy, trying to learn to control her new powers. A very powerful rouge witch is attempting to kill her and everyone around her. Cass is the leader of the Vampire Death Dealers and Ravens friend. Rene is the Overseer of the Vampires, he and Raven are together which will make them more powerful. They are trying to discover who the rouge witch is and stop her constant attacks. They will face a very dangerous challenge, death, betrayal and a vicious battle against the Shadow witch and her men. I love this series, every book is a masterpiece of storytelling, spellbinding, surprising and fascinating characters that hold you breathless with delight. Fantastic read 💕🤩.

This book makes a good addition to this series, it's well-written and flows well. I you enjoy paranormal stories that bring out a different side of vampires than most other books then this is a series that should appeal. That said it is a series with a continuing story running through the whole series.
Rene at last seems happy even though the war seems imminent, while Brigid continues to brainwash many more vampires and humans are unable to stand up to her power. But the Vampires now have their Queen and her power is helping to restore power to those who remain loyal.
The narration is provided by Katie Hagaman who does an excellent job of bringing this story to life.

The mystery regarding the blood witch comes to an end in this book, as Raven and Rene come face to face with the traitors that seek to end the peace between the supernatural clans.
This one has a ton of revelations, a new story arc setup as well as the conclusion to the original story arc, and the introduction of some new and intriguing characters!
It’s an enjoyable story, with some storylines that I am looking forward to seeing come to their climax, and hopefully it won’t be long!
This is not a standalone, so I recommend the series as a whole, to PWF fans and urban fantasy lovers.
“Forty Deaths Till Us Part” is Book 6 in both Rise of the Blood Witch and Magical Midlife Death series. The Audiobook is narrated by Katie Hagaman who does a fine job of reading this story. I really enjoyed the spicy, action-packed story in the Audiobook form. And that I can cook or clean while listening to it.
I love this series with all its twists and turns. Raven and Rene are an outstanding couple. I highly recommend this series! I do strongly suggest you start with the first Book, “Forever Forty”. This is a wonderful series you will enjoy every minute of and want to read it more than once.

Good continuation of series. Rene and Raven finally bond. The unknown evil trying to kill Raven is revealed and dealt with. Although that just means more vampires or witches will be trying to kill her in next book. I’m excited Cass might finally have a love interest worthy of her, so I cannot wait to read the next book. She’s one of my favorite characters. The author has great world building and visualization, sometimes too much. The passion and romance is definitely lacking though. A midlife series needs spice!.

I always read these books too quickly. Raven and Rene are forced to make hard decisions as more of the Blood Witch prophecy is discovered and Ursula takes it badly. Another vampire is turned to stone and a traitor in the coven is revealed. Rene's life is threatened and Raven may end up dying as a result. A secret ceremony causes dissension in the clan and a treacherous vampire will die - causing even more discord. Don't blink or you will miss something! Raven is learning about her new magic and what she can do, however there is a danger that she is unaware of until it was almost too late. I have to say from the beginning to the end I was enthralled, I could not put this book down. The ending was intense and a page turner, glad this was not the end of this series. I want to see what Raven and Rene are going to turn into. I would recommend this book and series.

This is a part of a series that definitely need to be read or listened to in order. This episode is full of betrayal drama action suspense and romance with some heat to it. The relationship between the two main characters is still in the early stages even though they have joined together. Looking forward to the next episode because this finishes up on a one hell of a cliffhanger. The narrators have done a great job of capturing the fill of the book. They're both evolving, the longer they're together. Their love is bringing them together and the nasties out of the woodwork. Now they're both at risk but determined to keep each other going. At the same time they're finding out more about the prophecy haunting her. I'm tempted to start reading this series from the beginning again 🤔.

Book six and this incredible series still packs a punch! It’s gripping and exciting with plenty of action, suspense, mystery and betrayal and is every bit as addictive as the previous books. The author lures us in with answers to our many questions and then throws twists and turns our way so now we have more questions! Incredible world building, incredible characters, I am looking forward to seeing what the author does in the next book!
This is not a standalone book. The story picks up where it left off in Forty Reasons To Die, the fifth book, please, start from the beginning. I am loving this series. I love Raven, a vampire witch or blood witch, if you will. Of course, being the only one of her kind makes her a target. There is so much to this story, I hope it doesn't end for a while yet and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Gleeful Goblin Review: This chapter in the larger story of Raven and Rene's evolution is riveting. Many secrets come to light, traitors are revealed, but at the core of it all is hope. There are obstacles galore at every turn and each new piece of information is hard won. This story has got me in its GRIP and I can't wait for the next piece of this saga. 5/5 Stars.

Book six in the Rise of the Blood Witch/ Magical Midlife Death another engrossing story in this series. This series just gets more intriguing with each new story. Rene is attacked and Raven chooses to save him, while doing so she now faces death. There is drama, suspense, danger, twists, turns and adventure. I cannot wait until I can read or listen to the next book. I enjoyed listening to this story and Katie Hagaman narrate it.
This picks up perfectly from where book five left off, Raven develops a new power, now they are trying to find out what it means. I could give more but I Truly hate to spoil a story for some one else. My opinion is that it is another fantastic addition to this wonderful series, that I Highly Recommend!!! No Spoilers! I Loved It!!!.

This is the final book in the Rise of the Blood Witch books. We finally see battle between the dark faction and Rene, Raven and Cass etc. Raven's powers are increasing and the dark faction fear their power both Rene and Raven if they bond. The dark faction continue to throw all they have against them, will Raven and Rene survive? Best to read these books in order. Highly recommended.
