Dungeon Cleaners Inc. #2

Dungeon Cleaners Inc. 2

Friend or Foe?

It certainly wasn't easy to get used to the drastic change in his life, but Lucas seemed to take his new role as the secret protector of Earth and other possible realms rather well. Stuck in his own apartment for most of the time, he ventured into and conquered two dangerous Dungeons. Naturally, it wouldn't have been possible without the incredibly helpful draconic Berserker lady assisting him all the way.

Yet, two will not mark the end, not even close. Lucas and Aisha will need to continue their dangerous expeditions if they want to stay alive and grow stronger. There is no time for rest when the world is in danger. Though, besides their newly recruited companion, they might finally have a chance to work alongside the other Defenders.

But, are they sure that's a good thing?

Dungeon Cleaners 2 by J.R. Saileri - 2/5 Stars

First and foremost, I want to state that I am not an author. I have no idea what it takes to write a book. I am a consumer with an OPINION, and only an opinion, based on my life experiences.

"Dungeon Cleaners 2" continues the concept introduced in the first book - a world where dungeons appear right outside your front door, and it's your job to clear them out. While this premise initially piqued my interest, I found my enthusiasm waning as I progressed through this sequel.

The game-like store mechanic for buying and selling items remains one of the more intriguing aspects of the world-building. It's a refreshing LitRPG element that sets this series apart from many others in the genre. However, this unique feature wasn't enough to maintain my engagement with the story.

One of the main drawbacks for me was the limited scope of the world. While the idea of a dungeon appearing right outside the protagonist's apartment is novel, the lack of exploration beyond this immediate setting left me feeling confined. The absence of a broader world or context beyond the dungeon made the story feel somewhat claustrophobic and repetitive.

The group dynamics, which should be a driving force in a dungeon-clearing narrative, fell flat for me. The characters' interactions lacked the depth and complexity I was hoping for, making it difficult to invest in their relationships or individual growth.

Overall, while the core concept remains interesting, the execution in this sequel didn't captivate me. The story seemed competently written, but something about it failed to resonate, leaving me disinclined to continue with the series if future installments are released.

5 stars - Exceptional, life-changing, or will reread multiple times
4 stars - Highly enjoyable, likely to reread, would recommend
3 stars - Decent read, might not remember long-term
2 stars - Not for me, struggled to finish
1 star - Poorly written or factually incorrect

This book earns 2 stars from me. While it had potential and some unique elements, it ultimately wasn't for me, and I struggled to maintain interest throughout the read.

Saileri ROCKS!

I first became acquainted with this author via his mega-opus Rise of the Weakest Summoner. Its good. REALLY good. Just have a look at the sheer number of other authors trying to snag as many readers as they can via “copycat titles” - “Rise of the Weakest ”. That alone tells you Author Saileri’s Opus is HIGHLY regarded by readers and peers alike.

This tale is somewhat akin to RotWS, but it ventures into the more common themes of HaremLit. Still, it’s a d**n good story, and WELL worth the read. I DO feel the Audible version is underserved by weak voice actors, though. Still, the brilliant writing shines through. No matter whether you choose to enjoy the story via Kindle or Audible, you can’t help but be drawn into the story on the strength of Saileri’s storytelling prowess. I HIGHLY recommend this tale, and ANYTHING written by this author.

Stylistically identical to book one

LitRPG, Harem, Urban Fantasy, Dungeon Crawler, Mild sex scenes.
This book is mostly as good as book one. The dungeon action kicks up a notch and the MC still gets to know his new girl before trying to jump her bones.
One negative though is the MC's constant and repetitive virtue signaling. It was just as repetitive in book one, but since the were just the two of them the MC appeared to be simply talking to his girlfriend. Now it feels like he's speechifying.
Also a little off putting, the new girl doesn't emote or have facial expressions. That always makes it seem like she not into what's happening and in a book with sex scenes that can be problematic.
But for the most part it's just fine. It really is almost word for word the same style as book one.

Fun series about an ex tech manager gamer reverse isekaied into having dungeons connected to his apartments front door. His class and perks revolve around having sex with summoned subordinates that he very vocally wants te treat well. Lucas king has summoned a drakken strong girl called aisha and a lunar elf girl called levia. His class is a lust overlord with weapon telekinesis.

Nice voice modulation for boss

Female voice not very natural, questions sound like they are solo sentences

Dragonfire water pot doesnt work like that. The water would all turn to steam quicker than the pot melting.

I was keen to pick up this sequel after enjoying the first volume and I’d say I wasn’t disappointed in the least.
Book 2 brought more of the same RPG goodness which I originally enjoyed and more engaging adventures. I specifically enjoyed the navigation around the topics of relationships and how these characters were portrayed to speak candidly about them.

My main reservation regarding the overuse of specific metaphors and imagery (within the more explicit scenes) still stands for this sequel.

Overall okay with one issue.

The main female protagonist being given a single character trait and becoming one dimensional is the issue. She had so much more personality in book one. The second female propagandist is so light spoken, I shudder to think what will happen to her personality in the next book.

I can’t wait for more

Perfect sequel. Wonderful series. Wonderful concept. Great pace of progression. Can’t wait to see how additional subordinates joining is handled at higher levels. Can’t wait for a full complement or combat and crafting subordinates is achieved. I hope this series ends up with well over 10 books.

as good as expected

I remember reading the first volume a while ago and thinking that this was a really ingenious answer fun series and sorry it didn’t have more. While I like JR Saileri’s ROTWS series, this one always seemed cleverer. I am thrilled that there is a sequel and it is just as fun. My complaint now is that there is not more and hope that it will come soon.

Good second book

A little slow in spots, but overall a excellent sequel. MC should move out of his apartment into a real home now, especially since he now has such a cool car that needs a garage, not to mention he will probably need a bigger shower!

Just not enough story movement and too many extended sex episodes for me to really get into it. Writing overall is competent, and I liked the integration of modern tech into the fantasy dungeon ecosystem, but lacked substance to really hold my attention.

Really fun

Simply put, if you liked the first one, you'll like this one. It's a fun lighthearted read, though with lots of violence and some murder.

Highly recommended.

De beginner dungeon was volgens mij vrij geavanceerd. Verder continuering van het verhaal zonder grote verrassingen.
