After surviving a wicked divorce and ending up alone with a baby, Josie Simons had sworn off men. Her so-called life consisted of cleaning up after animals at the city zoo and cleaning up after her toddler at home. Maybe it was the utter boredom that made her let her best friend and coworker talk her into a blind date with handsome single father Cam Bosworth. Before she knew it, she was caught up in a relationship that was both exhilarating and frightening. Cam was everything she needed for her daughter and herself. But lately weird things had started happening at the zoo, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that she, or worse, her daughter, might be in danger. Moreover, Cam’s concern seemed more suspicious than comforting. Events at the zoo escalate as Josie’s life becomes more complicated and dangerous than she could ever have imagined.
April began writing stories to share with her friends at age 10, and then kept secret notebooks and diaries of quotes, poetry, essays, and observations. In high school she joined the newspaper staff and eventually became editor of the school paper. As a journalism major in college she soon realized she wasn't aggressive enough to be a reporter, so after a short stint as a pre-med student, she earned her degree in teaching English and science. During her 30-year teaching career, and while raising a family, her writing stayed in the background except for a few professional newsletter articles and a monthly faculty newsletter. As her children became more independent, she decided to begin writing again, and published a humor book in 2006 and her first novel in 2010. She created her blog soon after that. When April isn't working on her current novel, she enjoys spending time with her children and their families, junk journaling, glamping, thrift shopping, and caring for her Boston terrier Stella and pet hedgehog Cinnabon
I recieved this book while being a guest judge for a book contest. I must say this was a really good book. The best I have read in a while. I was just at a zoo about a week ago so images of these animals where fresh in my mind. This was an easy book to follow from beginning to end. I read it cover to cover in one day. I hope there are more books out by this author. I look forward to reading them.
