A very action packed story of the adventures men at sea.
The author has written a story of a young man’s desires to become a sailor and his adventures when he does get to sea. A story full of heartbreak, adventure, and joy.

Excellent characters while staying close to historic happenings. Feel like you can feel the characters and their actions with specifics for Jack. This coupled with the fast actions in short periods of time for Jack specifically and his personal conflicts with his parents being killed by the British while on a british man of war is Fascinating while he learns to be an able seaman. Looking forward to further books by the author

cal Clement writes a great story
New series, new characters same level of excellent yarn spinning.
Leading up to the American Revolution the principal character is introduced as an orphan of the Boston Massacre. Great description of colonial Boston, its streets and downtown.
Waiting for the next in the series.
Highly recommend.

Outstanding Book
Dear Cal, I have been reading books about the early US Navy for almost 60 years. Your work is an excellent addition to the genre. I remember a book called Fighting Frigate about the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) I have Just Begun to Fight about John Paul Jones. I really enjoyed it.

Perfect for “landlubbers”!
Cal Clement gives great detail to us landlubbers as to life aboard a sailing vessel in the 18th century. The detail borders on too much at points, but the plot moves along to grab your attention. Looking forward to the next segment and te historical tie to the American Revolution .

Sometimes the grammar and spelling are incorrect. But excellent reading .
Great reading, even though sometimes there are grammar and spelling mistakes, common in other books as well. Really good storyline that keeps you interested.

a fun yarn
And true to the details of 18th century maritime. I’m looking forward to where this goes. The two loading and firing the cannon was a bit of a stretch.
