Tiffany grew up in Sydney, Australia and has never written one of these before. She likes wine, nuggets, good books, tattoos and zombie movies. She strongly dislikes laundry - something there was an endless supply of while writing.

In her free time you can find her with her husband and kids, all of whom keep her so busy, it’s a miracle she even managed to write the name of her first book, let alone all that followed.

5⭐️ This is a high stakes fantasy romance which starts fast and furious in chapter one and never lets up until the very end. Our main character Artura, is snarky, sassy, bold and often stupidly brave, but boy is she loyal. Get ready to be emotionally traumatised, in all the good bookish ways!

Artura lives a quiet life hidden away in a small town with her carer Emrys as she learns the healing arts and finds moments to be with her best friend/lover Soraya. Here, the rath of King Helmar only minimally affects them, if you can call the accepted mistreatment of women, the limited food and resources and the hunting of witches without reason to be minimal.

As a healer, Emrys lives on the edge of acceptance as King Helmar is out to eradicate his world of anything that he deems powerful, as only he should have the power. Despite needing to remain unnoticed, Artura can't help but stand up for herself and others any time she sees an injustice, leading to her being accused of Witchcraft and sent to the palace to face King Helmar.

We quickly learn that King Helmar is the epic villain, revelling in the pain of others as he prides himself in creative ways to torture his victims. With no one to stop him, Artura suffers his full attention for months, until his most creative form of torture leads to the King marrying her off to the King of another land. One who he believes to be just as cruel as he.

But this King turns out to be someone very different, and Artura begins a new life as she learns more about herself, her heritage and who she wants to be in this new relationship.

I loved everything about this book, although the on-page torture and rape was particularly hard to read.

I found myself connecting to Artura immediately which made me completely invested in her journey. It was this that kept me reading well into the night and at times when I should have been doing other things! I needed to know that all the trauma she endures throughout the story would eventually lead to some form of happiness.

The romance was definitely the light within the dark, as King Thorn was our perfect bookish boyfriend. I particularly loved the way that he supported Artura to find her inner power, encouraging her to keep investing in herself as they began to form a plan to make this world better.

I highly recommend this book which felt much like a combination of the vibes of Kingdom of Ash and Heir of Fire from the Throne of Glass Series.

Queer rep: Bisexual Female Main Character
Trigger warning: On-page Torture, Rape and Murder

First of all, I want to thank Tiffany for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.💛

The Queen of Poison & Fire is a beautifully written fantasy full of emotion, darkness, and strength. I was immediately drawn into Artura’s world, she’s a powerful main character, who truly carries the story.🫶🏻 After being accused of witchcraft, Artura is handed over to the cruel King Helmar, alongside Emrys, the man who raised her and feels like a father to her. The scenes that follow are dark and heartbreaking (TW‼️), but they also show Artura’s incredible will to survive.

When she’s forced to marry King Thorn, things take a surprising turn. Thorn isn’t at all the monster she expected. Their chemistry and emotional connection develop fast, making it easy to root for them. I loved how their relationship added warmth and hope to such a brutal world.🥰 Also the bisexual representation was done really well and felt genuine!

With Thorn’s help, Artura’s determination to save Emrys and fight back against Helmar drives the story forward in a way that kept me turning the pages. The worldbuilding is vivid, the emotions are raw, and the pacing never drags.

Overall, The Queen of Poison & Fire is an emotional fantasy about strength, survival, and unexpected love. I’m also incredibly excited to be part of the ARC team for book two: King of Blood & Tides 🗡️ and I honestly can’t wait to dive back into this world!

Queen of Poison and Fire – Tiffany M. Parker (Reposting as author lost their reviews)

I was given a copy of this book as an ARC to provide an honest review.

Tiffany M. Parker is an Australian author who writes romance and fantasy novels with some spice. She has a love for wine, nuggets, good books, tattoos and zombies – but detests laundry.

Artura has no parents are long since gone from this world and she has been brought up by the only parental figure she has ever had in her life – Emrys. He is a healer and teaches his craft to Artura, while they both dwell in a ramshackle cottage on the outskirts of a village. Artura has never known who her parents were, just that she had a mother died shortly after she was born.

Their existence Artura and Emrys have together is a small and quiet life, times are hard, but they always manage to scrape by and make do. Which is hard given their chosen profession as the king of the land – King Helmar – views this as something akin to witchcraft; and that is dangerous because if you are even suspected of that you will soon find yourself dead or worse, in the dungeons of King Helmar wishing you would be given the gift of death.

King Helmar has his special solders known as The Cleanse – and yes, it is exactly as the name seems - their mission and sole goal is to cleanse the land of witches and witchcraft.

Unfortunately for Artura and Emrys that is exactly who takes them into the dark depths of King Helmar’s dungeon. But that isn’t the most awful or strangest this that happens to Artura in those dungeons. She is tortured and subjected to such horrors one could not even imagine, raped and much worse. Then once she thinks she couldn’t possibly suffer any worse she is forced to marry a King from a distant land, King Thorn – all because of whose child she is, all because of what she is to the King – it gives him his greatest pleasure.

But King Thorn is not what King Helmar had in store for Artura at all – he knows more about who she is and what she is capable of than Artura could comprehend and together they begin down the path to discovering who her parents are and what she truly is. It’s dangerous path and one that could likely end up getting both of themselves killed – yet together is the only chance they have of making it to the other side.

“Queen of Poison and Fire” is a different kind of fantasy story – yes it has knights, dragons, witches and of course magic, along with the damsel in distress and the knight in shining armor or in Artura’s case – a young man with swagger and confidence of youth – but he is also dark and mysterious that oozes appeal and desire. It’s a story that has captivated me from the very first and held me in its clutches until the end. It was a well-paced fantasy tale that had the reader going through some very roller coaster moments – having my emotions all over the damn place. I very much hope I am lucky enough to get an ARC copy of the next instalment in this series.

I am reposting my review since GR deleted all these authors' reviews because of a cover change.

TWs: R*pe, torture, dismemberment, bodily fluids, unsanitary conditions(trust me on this 🤢🤮)

This book was brutal. Brutal in the way it described what Artura and many others survived. Brutal in the physical reactions evoked. Brutal in every way. I'm not sure how I even made it through those scenes because, honestly, I was nauseous as hell. I had to take many, many breaks while reading this story. I don't know how Artura survived. She rose above it all and became so powerful and beautiful and wonderful. I still can't get those horrifying images out of my head. I'm so angry at that ending, after everything, this is how it ends. I genuinely need the next book because that cliffhanger isn't fair! I also need some serious revenge on Soraya! She doesn't deserve to live, and I hope she dies. I hate Helmer, but he was always the villain. The hate and disgust I feel for Soraya and what she did is way more than the hate for Helmar. She deserves a slow and painful death. Though, I don't think Artura or Thorn will give me the vengeance I want. I just want the next book. And for Thorn and Artura to live happily. They deserve it after all this is said and done.

I was hooked from the first chapter, Tiffany really doesn’t hold back its straight into the action.

MY THOUGHTS
What an engrossing story! I signed up for an advanced reading copy of this book because the premise sounded so good. I am very glad that I did as I quite enjoyed it.
WARNING - Please check trigger warnings before reading this book. There are quite a few disturbing scenes (mostly involving physical and psychological torture).

This is the first spicy fantasy book that I have read. There are only two steamy scenes but there is a lot of "lusting after each other" throughout the book. I personally feel that the scene in chapter 1 probably wasn't necessary, but I'm sure some people may enjoy it.

Although I do like the book, there were a couple of things that started to annoy me throughout the story.
1. The main character often acts like a petulant child even though she is 24.
2. There is a constant reminder that the main male character's eyes are emerald. I should have made it into a drinking game for every time she mentioned his eyes.

Overall, a good first book. I look forward to reading the next instalment

What a captivating read ! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It’s so enthralling with all the different lore aspects and the twists and turns. The characters are developed really really especially the fmc whose pov it is from. Artura is such a strong and resilient character. Through everything she faces she never gives up, she’s so strong willed and witty. I loved her character so much. She was consistent throughout the book like some fmc can get “weak” I guess after they meet the mmc but not Artura. If anything she becomes stronger. In terms of Thorn, he is developed well, there is a few gaps within his background but you do learn about where he’s been and his background. He’s an awesome mmc to be honest, he’s very supportive and loving. He’s also very intuitive when it comes to Artura and what she’s been through. He also allows her to be her own person which is so amazing as a mmc. In terms of plot well it has all the plot all of it. It’s very suspenseful and there’s so so many twists and turns that you don’t expect. There is a lot of dark torture and gore scenes that are really detailed so I’d recommend going into it with that in mind. The fmc goes through hell in every sense of the word but the plot is so engaging and unpredictable. The chemistry between the fmc and mmc is developed pretty well, I would class it as a slow burn. There is some spicy encounters spackled through but they don’t actually come together till closer to the end. The tension and desire between them though is really really good and it really heightens any sexual encounters they do have. So in terms of spice I have to put it at like a 2.5/5. It’s not quite a 3 but it’s a bit more than a 2. Overall though it’s definitely a 5/5 cause it’s just an amazingly written story. It’s so very engaging and really draws you in and I honestly cannot wait until the next book.

Wow! I can't rave about this book enough. I was in a reading slump--wanting to find a book that was more than a 3-star read--to rave about on my bookstagram and was coming up short. I scrolled and found a fellow bookstagrammer talking about this book and was instantly intrigued, especially when I saw these quotes that the author posted between the FMC and MMC--leading me to download this book and not put it down! It was different than what I expected in the best way possible.

One thing I appreciated about this book was the bisexual aspect of it; sometimes it is mentioned that the character is bisexual or bicurious and you have never seen it explored or shared--where this author gives you the relationship between the FMC and her love interest in the beginning and sees the shared experiences they go through and how it affects the FMC later. Thank you, Tiffany, for doing that! Aside from that lovely aspect, the world-building is beautiful and easy to picture and understand. Each chapter left you wanting to know more--leaving you crumbs to figure out what was going to happen next--sometimes leaving you floored. The emotions I felt reading certain scenes had my blood boiling, cheering, and giggling.

The only thing that I was frustrated with was the ending chapters when Artura was taken and placed back into the dungeons--I sighed when she was under the impression it was not real. Everything that transpired in this chapter and leading up to her escape felt unnecessary. This did not ruin the book--I still believe it to be phenomenal and something I will recommend.

The main character is sassy and stubborn when it comes to navigating situations lol--which is one reason why I love the hell out of her.

🥀**PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF YOUR OWN TRIGGERS **🥀 SPOILER HEAVY!!
How do I even begin writing a review for this book-
This book has everything you’ll love, hate, and every emotion in between.
1. I. Love. Viane. Absolutely and wholeheartedly she’s my favorite character out of the entire book, she’s such a cheeky bitch in all the right ways. Wanted to throw her into the lake a couple times but I digress
2. Let me backtrack: the writing itself is easy to read and so descriptive it hurts at times, hurts so good. There were a few minor blips that my brain wasn’t quite understanding but that’s fully a me problem hahah.
3. Adding to above, I felt that some of the elemental lore could have been added upon a bit personally as well as the pacing in a couple chapters towards the 75% mark but that’s me being nitpicky
4. The spice was SPICING 🤌🏻✨ we love a bi fmc but love a respectful mmc that has a dirty mouth when it comes time 😙
5. Purgatory was ROUGH to read through (in a good way) and the ache it gave me for Artura made me want to cry, it was *painfully* well written
6. There were so many twists and turns?? Everything going smoothly? HA NOT ANYMORE! It was such a rollercoaster of emotions 😅
7. Thorn 🥀 Need I say more?
8. My fucking HEART in act 3 was split into pieces, stomped on, carefully glued back together, cradled gently, then thrown out the window into a wood chipper 🥲
9. WDYM THAT’S HOW IT ENDS?? I NEED MORE!!
10. The epilogue?? Excuse me??????

Side note- I totally imagined Artura as flame princess from Adventure Time 🧍🏼

Overall rating: 4.83/5 sparrows 🪿

Thank you Tiffany for sending me this eARC
This is my honest review (reposting my review as the original review was lost by GR)
I started this without knowing what to except and I have to say I was in for a treat.

From the beginning author swiftly draws us to the main character Artura .. her thoughts, her world, her pain, her sufferings, I felt like it was mine. Then comes along Thorn, the perfect bookish husband you can ever ask for. Although he is too good to be true in the beginning, as the story progresses, I found Artura deserved him.
One of many things I devoured in the book is the beauty of writing style..the thick beautiful language of narration by which the author slowly builds world and carries the story shows how much care was given into writing style as much as to the plot, which you don’t get to see in most booktok famous fantasy books these days.
There was never a dull moment and I felt the plot being carried on organically throughout. Although I am not much of a smut person, none of it in the story felt forced and unnecessary. I thoroughly enjoyed the magical world building with elemental magic. All the characters were well written including the ruthless villain king Helmar.
My only word of caution is to refer to trigger warnings before starting the book. They are there for a reason.

Will definitely be reading the next book and can’t wait for it !

5 Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The start of this story brings us to a little village, meeting our heroine of the book and her adoptive father and mentor Emrys. We see how they are bonded and the love they have for one another. Honestly, they are my favorite in the first few chapters of this book.

Unfortunately, peace for them is upturned when The Cleanse comes to their home and everything is turned sideways after! My heart hurts for Artura when her long-time friend and lover Saraya betrays her and everything that followed after.

Chapter 11, Tiffany, I hate you for this!! I won't spoil, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!!

After being TRAUMATIZED! Things begin to take a positive turn for Artura with the arrival of Thorn. A man who falls first and clearly falls hard. With her husband at her side, Artura grows stronger, and I am here for her growth throughout the last half of the book.

The ending chapters shook me, and the final scene I am BIG MAD! But also excited to see how things unfold in the next book!!!

Overall, if you love adventure, chaos, love , and torture and mayhem! This book may be right up your alley!!

Keep in mind that this book does have trigger warnings for themes of infant loss, sexual assault, rape, and abuse, both mental and physical and torture.

Writing another review because GoodReads have somehow managed to delete all of this book's reviews, and there were a LOT of damn good reviews.

I've been following Tiffany Parker's writing career for some time now and I have to say that her writing just keeps getting better and better. Tiffany's latest book, Queen of Poison and Fire, is one of those rare books that you simply can't put down. From the very first chapter, the story draws you in and leaves you craving for more. It takes a rare book these days to keep this old girl from drifting off to sleep but QPF does just that. I find myself completely engrossed in the story, only to wish there were more hours in the day so I could read it faster, but you know, life gets in the way.

I very highly recommend Queen of Poison and Fire. Love your work Tiffany and can't wait to read book #2 and your soon-to-be-released novella.

An absolutely essential grim dark fantasy!!

This book is so cruel and so beautiful at the same time it’s transcendent. A writing style that kept my attention entirely and ending in a spectacular cliffhanger that I both love and hate. Artura is an amazing main character, very fleshed out and she has more physical and emotional strength than almost any other character I’ve read. I need book 2 immediately because this book will be on my mind every second until that! Beware, read at your own risk because there are plenty of trigger warnings and it is a very brutal story. It was perfect for me, I love fantasy books the darker the better. I’m gonna to have to get the rest of Tiffany Parker’s books because I’m now obsessed with her!

PS: I got this book as an arc and am incredibly grateful and my review is my own personal opinion.

I'm sad I finished it so quickly 😭
I received a free ARC for my honest review which I'm so grateful for, but knowing this isn't even technically out yet and I have so much longer to wait for the second one may slowly kill me 😅
I loved this book. I love Artura and I looove Thorn!
Artura grew so much within this book, but I love how she still has a lot to learn. I can't wait to see how that develops throughout the series.
The writing style is great, it really drew me in and I had so much empathy for what Artura was going through.
The romance was perfect, slow when it needed to be and the spice felt right and not overdone.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novel and I can't wait to read more.

If you like Feather and Famine by Mariah Rosewood you will love this book!

Queen of Poison and Fire is the first in a new romantasy series by Australian author Tiffany Parker.
It’s dark and haunting filled with larger-than-life characters including one of the WORST villains I have EVER encountered. Luckilly, there is a sworn worthy golden retriever hero who brings light and romance to FMC Artura’s world and the novel.

Overall I loved the book and can’t wait to see what happens next!

This book gripped me from start to end. If I didn't have to work, I'd have finished it in one sitting.

This was a roller-coaster of a ride, bouncing from revelation to revelation, and just when you think things are going smoothly...bam! Twist!

I received this as an arc, and holy crap was it awesome.

The first part was very heavy to read and may trigger some people, but I found that Artura's suffering really added to the narrative and who she was as a person.

The spicy scenes were 🔥.

I loved the characters and the plot, and I can't wait to read book two. Especially after that cliffhanger!!

This got me out of my Iron Flame slump! Thank you so much Tiffany Parker for letting me arc read this wonderful book. What a heart wrenching story! My emotions were pulled and tears shed during the torture, pain, and betrayals that were depicted in this book. I really enjoyed Artura’s strength and resilience throughout the plot. She is a wonderfully created FMC. I highly recommend everyone read this book but definitely check the triggers as some of the aspects were difficult to read! WOW! This book was a WILD ride. I cannot wait to see what Artura gets up to next. But I also do not think I am emotionally prepared for the next book.

Please check the trigger warnings. This book is DARK. This is your fair warning.

I have never felt physically sick from reading a book until this one. I think that is a wonderful and terrible feat. After I finished this book I felt heavy and needed some time to myself.

On a brighter note, it has everything a reader could want in a fantasy novel! Spice, tragedy, magic, dragons, found family, heartbreak, secrets, surprises, a cliffhanger... you name it!

I need the next one! This story gripped me from the start. It was an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute! I was mad at times, totally frustrated at certain characters, and really liked others.

Arrested for using witchcraft, Artura is locked up, tortured in some truly horrific ways, and then married off to a King. What she uncovers is that not everyone is as they first seem, and she's far stronger than she realised.

This story was a journey, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

5 FREAKING STARS 🌟 I'll start by saying, I am not a fantasy reader and I decided to take a leap of faith with this one. Let me tell you, it DID NOT disappoint. I devoured this book and it's all I could talk about for days. Be sure to check trigger warnings as there is some rough stuff in this amazing story of overcoming pain, both physical and mental. It's a beautiful story of self-discovery and determination. Artura is the definition of a strong FMC. Thorn, oh my, he is so yummy 🖤 There is magic, demons, and dragons, oh my! The cliffhanger is awful lol but I can't wait for book two!!

I read this book as an ARC and I LOVED it!

I could have read it in one sitting if I didn't have adult duties.
It has a nice amount of spice without taking away from the rest of the book. The world building was super easy to read which I love in a fantasy book. Artura is sassy, bold, loyal to those she loves and just easy to fall in love with. Thorn is witty, charming and says all of the right things!

This book is about a woman who loses everything but gains so much more and I can't wait for book two because the book does finish on a cliffhanger 🫣

I read the book in one sitting and found it an enjoyable read.
-The story has enough detail to know what is going on without making the book a too long a read.
-Some spicy parts.
-Likeable MC's.
-Some twists and turns.
Good first start to a series and look forward to next book

Solid story, not for the faint hearted. The female main character is feisty and talks before thinking. Which doesn’t put her in the best situation. Thorn is a cutie pie, although his love was a bit too insta for my liking. Artura balanced it out though. Great start of what will undoubtedly be a great and exciting story. Can’t wait for the next book!

Please check trigger warnings before reading this book. It can be quite full on!

I’m having a few mixed feelings about this one. Was it a bad book? No! I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I think the first half of the book was better than the second. Not particularly that the ending was bad, I just felt more “sucked in” to the first half. I found it dragged a little at the end.

However, I would definitely recommend this one for anyone who loves witchy, high stakes fantasy that is action packed and has some good spice.

I was an arc reader for this and DAMNNNN it was SO GOOD.

Queen of Poison & Fire is a fantasy romance written by Aussie author Tiffany Parker. If you want to be traumatised by a bathtub (iykyk), love an arranged marriage, "who did this to my wife" *SWOON*, a slice of chosen one, hidden powers, a well deserved revenge arc, and an ending that will ROCK YOU, then this is it.
