To the outside world, Samantha "Sammy" Eastwood is just your ordinary girl. Grade A student, aspiring journalist, and an introvert who'd much prefer to stay home reading than have a night out partying. However, Sammy has a secret not a soul can ever know about - she's the founder of Love, Anonymous, an anonymous love letter page for her peers on campus are obsessed with.
And it all started because of him. Byron Ashford, her former childhood best friend. Law student by day, PT by night. The player who unknowingly broke her heart.
When Sammy ghosted Byron a year ago, it had almost broken him. No text, no note - nothing to explain what had gone wrong. Crossing paths again in the most unlikely of places, Byron becomes determined to win back his best friend, no matter what it takes. He'll pose as her project partner and write some sappy romance story. He'll fake date her roommate just for a chance to see her face. Hell, he'll even give up pursuing other women, if she agrees to his proposal.
Their new arrangement seems to satisfy them both...until it doesn't.
Will their relationship survive when the secrets and revelations of Love, Anonymous come to light? Will Byron forgive Sammy for running away when he discovers the reason she left? Can a simple love letter bring these two soulmates back together?
'Love, Anonymous' is a steamy friends-to-lovers new adult/college rom-com set in Sydney, Australia.
Keighley Bradford is an Australian author of spicy romantic comedies. She specialises in stories full of humour, heart and heat. A self-proclaimed daydreamer, she has a passion for happily-ever-afters and enjoys all things romance—from Hallmark movies to books that make you blush. When she's not writing, Keighley can be found reading, relaxing by the beach, or binge-watching TV series.
I grabbed this from Stuff Your Kindle and it was…okay. The plot was fun and the characters were mostly enjoyable. I loved that it was set in Sydney.
But.
The manuscript reads like someone accidentally published a draft rather than the final copy. It was so difficult to read without focusing on the typos, completely wrong words, missing words/letters, random apostrophes etc. Ultimately it means I didn’t enjoy the book as much as I wanted to.
Samantha didn't want to be at the frat party but she had to keep an eye on her best friend Kelsey who was determined to finally approach Aidan. She was trying to rationalize with her obviously drunk friend that flashing him was not how she wanted to get his attention.
When she sees Kelsey's over-protective brother Derek enter the front door she sends her to the restroom hoping to get her sober enough to prove to him she was making better decisions and not going home with the first stranger. Luckily a fight broke out and she had a reason to get her friend home without her hooking up using the threat of the police being called.
Samantha is in the kitchen making her famous pancakes, dancing to the music coming from her earphones when something catches her attention and she stares in shock. This could not be happening... the hookup that Kelsey had sneaked in the night before had frozen on his way out the front door.
Byron rarely got out but never passed up a pool party. Near naked women with water glistening on their bodies. His idea of a good time. But he was looking for a bit more of an afterparty kind of girl right now. Someone a bit morally corrupt and knew the deal. Like the girl who slipped him her address before getting pulled away.
As he was sneaking out the next morning his eyes widened in shock... it couldn't be. Sammie, his best friend since childhood - until last year she disappeared without a trace.
I loved this story! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Sammie had ran away heartbroken a year ago and had managed to avoid Byron even though they attended the same college. Hiding in plain sight. But now that he has found her he is not letting her go until he finds out why she left without a word.
This book is action-packed and steamy hot from page one. Not only is Sammie keeping the reason she left a secret from Byron, she has another secret that could ruin her future. Highly recommend!
"The task of writing something that fears you may be the story that sets you free from your demons."
This book was nothing like I expected and yet, I absolutely loved everything.
The relationship dynamic between Byron and Samantha was perfect from start to end. The idea of stepping away from a relationship when it is impacting your mental health and wellbeing and then coming back to that relationship, if and when the time is right, when you've had a chance to face your feelings - I loved it.
The slow burn when it comes to the feels in this book was great. More than once I desperately wanted to jump into the book and shake the characters silly until they realised what was going on for themselves as well as each other. I'm super keen to continue with this serious and see where the overall story goes from here!
"Whether he's the first, the last, or the only, that's up to fate to decide."
This book reeled me in rather quickly. It becomes clear what's happening at the beginning. Girl and boy are best friends. Girl falls in love with boy but doesn't want to risk their friendship or heartbreak so she runs. It made sense to me why Sammy ghosted Byron and he went a whole year without contact to his childhood best friend. I wanted, needed to know, how their story was going to play out. I was hooked early on, as I said. It soon becomes clear that boy also loves girl but boy doesn't think he's good enough for girl, so he never said anything either; but even if he can't have her the way he wants her, he needs her in his life in some way, any way that she'll have him -if she'll even have him... We all love a story where the guy will do anything for the girl, and treats her special, treats her differently than all his other conquests. Treats her like a princess. Usually I am not a big fan of miscommunication tropes, but this one just *made sense* to me. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was smutty and fun and there wasn't a single dull moment in the story! I loved the evolution of the relationships and the characters. I think Keighley Bradford wrote such a fun love story.
As the author, I'm clearly biased when I say this is my favourite book. I've been waiting to tell Sammy & Bryon's story for a few years now, and I'm so excited that you finally get to read it. Their love story was the first one I ever wrote as a romance author, so being able to share their story with you all means so much to me.
Long story short, Sammy absolutely sucks and the editing is trash.
If you cut someone off, block them on every social media platform, change your number, all to never want to see them again, why would you transfer to the uni they attend? Is that the only one in the whole country???
Sammy runs a wildly successful blog (Love, Anonymous) and it plays little to no role in the novel. The only mentions are that Sammy started it because she was broken-hearted and stays up late to approve posts. It serves very little purpose in the book. And why DOES she spend so much time on it if she doesn't plan to use it to showcase her writing skills or makes any money from it?
She cut off a years-long friendship because she developed feelings for the guy? Why not just act like an adult and say something???? The whole time, it seemed like Byron did something so egregious because Sammy wouldn't tell ANYONE the real reason.
How the hell did Kelsey not know Byron's name before she hooked up with him, considering his reputation??? She even says she made sure to avoid parties he'd be at to protect Sammy. It makes absolutely no sense that she wouldn't know what he looked like.
Aiden Alexander is a cardboard cut-out. He and Kelsey had never spoken to one another and all of a sudden they're an item after Aiden sees her at a party with Byron? How come he didn't notice her when she took Byron home with her?
Liz and Sammy mention the power of their last name, but all we know is that they hate their dad. Is he Clint Eastwood? 😂 And why is their father funding Byron's education? That makes absolutely no sense.
I'm assuming Kelsey's parents died in a car accident, which is why she won't drive. But she's totally fine riding in them. Make it make sense 🥲
Derek is another useless character. He serves absolutely no purpose in the text.
Byron all but tells Sammy that he's in love with her and she still doesn't get it. For a journalist and a woman who reads a lot of romance, she's absolutely braindead.
The third-act breakup is truly dumb. Sammy and Byron are basically confessing their love to each other and they don't even realize it. They're both denser than a brick; even the six-year-old knew they were in love 😭 Also, Sammy just unanimously decides Byron can't give her what she wants and runs away. No conversation whatsoever. And this is immediately after Byron finds out his mother died. Sammy sucks.

2 ⭐️ // a friends-to-lovers that readers who grew up fans of Hilary Duff’s “A Cinderella Story” would probably enjoy as long as they aren’t looking for a strong plot
A year ago, Sammy ghosted her best friend with no explanation as to why. But now that Byron has found her again, he’s not willing to let her go again.
I give 2 ⭐️ to books I may have enjoyed parts of, but overall didn’t like. While I found some of the romance in this story engaging, I found the story as a whole weak.
The entire plot hangs on the miscommunication trope, so if you’re not a fan of that trope you probably won’t enjoy it at all. I don’t mind the miscommunication trope as long as the author lays out a strong exposition that sets it up so that it makes sense and isn’t just being used for drama. The problem with this story is that it is only used for drama’s sake, which makes the characters—especially the FMC—come across as immature.
It’s well established that Byron and Sammy’s friendship thrives because of their “honesty always” policy. In fact, that’s pretty much the only exposition we’re given about their friendship and why they were so close. However the main conflict in this story literally comes from neither being able to be honest with each other about their feelings.
On top of this, there are other side plot points that are in theory, heavy—things like Sammy’s mother’s death and her estranged relationship with her dad, or Byron’s crappy home life and the fact that he’s practically the guardian for his younger siblings—that are just kind of glossed over. They should have had more impact than they did.
This story suffers from having a lot of weight, but no anchor. It’s like it’s full of a lot of emotional hot air.
Now, if you’re just looking for a spicy friends-to-lovers story where he falls first (and hard), than you’ll probably really enjoy this.
I kind of loved this book. The story and the vibes were so on point that they deserve 4.5 to 5 star rating. I loved the characters, their backstories, just everything so much and if you're here for the vibes and the spice you are going to LOVE this book! Its that new adult angst, first love, learning to be an adult, friends to lovers vibe that i love so much and its got some truely hilarious moments! Also some of the australian vernacular just felt so homey to me that i couldnt help but love it!!!
But if you get hung up on spelling, grammar and a couple of inconsistencies, you may have a little trouble staying focused on the vibe. Now I'm not usually one to ever pick up on this stuff so when I do pick up on it, I know it may cause some issues for some of you. Also super important to note, the author is Australian so I'm not including the brittish spelling differences because I, too, am Australian!
Now if none of that matters to you, great! Because this is a brilliant, solid romance read! It's New Adult and has some ooooooo spicy scenes that are just 🔥!
I really did love this book and it only lost some star-age because I was pulled out of the story too much. But if this book happens to go through a couple more rounds of editing I will 100% gladly change my rating to the 5 stars that this story and its characters deserve!!
Love, Anonymous follows MCs Byron and Sammy through a reconnection where they become study partners essentially due to Byron joining a class he typically wouldn’t be seen in just to be around her more.
They used to be around each other a lot then ‘fell out’ as people do, Byron becomes a ‘playboy’ per say and can get almost anyone he wants, building a reputation, but despite all that, he truthfully wants her back as he never stopped loving her. Little does he know, despite the hurt she feels, she never stopped loving him either. “Love, Anonymous” itself is a spot where students etc. can send anonymous love letters to people and many use it, there’s one for every chapter at the start which is a nice touch. Sammy started this and it turns out the original letter was about Byron (who also wrote letters to her).
There is a HEA incase you were wondering, comes after Sammy not wanting to lose him again due to fear etc. but with help of her friend’s support she gives it another shot after he comes to find her.
Favourite quote: “You. Are. Perfect. End of story. You don’t need to workout for me”

This was such a cute book! I read it because it was suggested as book of the month on a fb page I’m on, and I’m so glad I gave it a chance!
We are introduced to Sammy, a uni student running from her own heart. Missing her best friend that she had to leave behind for both their own sakes, or so she thinks! She fell in love with him, surely he doesn’t feel the same!
Then we meet Byron, who is so intent on finding his best friend again, that he stops at nothing! Fate always finds a way!
I giggled so much in this book! I was rooting for both main characters and even the side ones! Kels was such good fun!
Ok the first thing I have to say; the mouth on Byron Ashford, phew 😮💨 🥵 His way with words was way hotter than I’d expected and I loved it!! I really liked the premise of the Love, Anonymous page and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the cute submissions at the beginning of each chapter. It was a really sweet addition to the story. I can’t say I LOVE the obvious MISCOMMUNICATION trope here, it was super frustrating watching Byron and Samantha knowing they loved it each other but neither would admit it. However, I am a sucker for Friends to Lovers and it was really beautiful to see their journey as they finally give in and realize what they meant to each other. I quite enjoyed this book and will absolutely be reading the next one in the series 🥰 I will say though that it could definitely use a good edit. There were alot of small spelling/grammar mistakes. Not a huge deal but it does disrupt the flow of reading when you’re really into it.
Super conflicted about how to rate it. Although I am not a huge fan of the miscommunication trope & I was looking for a soft lighthearted read- this book was written extremely well. The writing is good & the miscommunication feels believable. Truly one of my pet peeves in miscommunication is how ridiculous it seems. This book didn’t annoy me with the miscommunication. On top of that the characters feel realistic. They aren’t perfect. They are flawed & both experience some character growth. Very well written, not my cup of tea, but the author did a beautiful job. 🤎
This was a fairly quick and easy read. I enjoyed the writing style and that it was from both the MMC and FMC POVs. I did notice that there were a few times where the amount of time that had passed didn't add up and there were a couple of other small discrepancies. That being said the overall plot was enjoyable and felt like a comfort rom-com.
I liked all the characters and particularly enjoyed the dynamics and banter between the FMC and MMC. I thought that the spice was well written and didn't overshadow the story.
I really wanted to love this book, but truthfully, I found it quite boring. The main male protagonist also gave me the ick. I feel like the author was going for the trope bad boy that is actually good, but it played out awkwardly. The spice is boring and repetitive. There's grammar mistakes throughout, too. BUT I can appreciate this was her first Romance book. Keep writing!
I found this story surprisingly enjoyable to read. It was a lovely little romcom that acted as a palette cleanser between high fantasy series'. Sammy was such a relatable character, preferring the company of her book characters to real people. Byron took a little more time to warm to, but as soon as his family was introduced, he became very loveable.
It was fine. Nothing special. The plot is sorta all over the place and unfocused in a bunch of ways. It desperately needed another editorial pass through or two. Both to tighten it up (it is a little long) and to correct a bunch of copyedit errors (wrong words, missing words, to instead of too, that sort of thing). I enjoyed it for what it was. 2.75 stars. Roundng up for GR.
This was a great read! I was shouting out at the main characters to realise they actually are made for each other. It was bit of an emotional rollercoaster 💖 hang in with it as it’s worth the wait
Sammy wrote a love letter one day when she was drunk and the next day the page became the place where everyone wrote their own love letters. Love, Anonoymas became famous overnight, making everyone wonder about the person behind it.
Sammy had cut her childhood best friend and ran away. After ghosting him for almost a year, he suddenly showed up. Byron is now determined to learn why she suddenly cut him off and if it was his fault. When they make a deal to explore their attraction their feelings start to resurface. Will he figure out what drove Sammy away?
A romantic story about two childhood best friends who began to have feelings for each other but were not sure if their feelings were reciprocated. There is miscommunication, a second chance, and friends-to-lovers. The book is the first in the series. It ends with a HEA.
From the first 10% of the book, I disliked Byron. But then his story started to unfold, and he wasn’t so annoying after all. Sammy made it sound like something major happened that got her to cut him off like that, but in truth, it wasn’t. They both need to take their own advice about honesty because neither of them is with the other.
The book shows just how much the idea of losing someone makes you try to keep them in your life. But Sammy did the opposite and ran away. That's what I didn't understand. She wanted love but was scared to try fighting for it. While Byron was ready to do it all. As the wise Keanu Reeves once said: "If you’re a lover you’ve gotta be a fighter. Because if you don’t fight for your love, what kind of love do you have?”
I’m not sure about this book. It felt as if the author was trying so hard to make you understand sex positivity. And Byron’s confessions were all sexual. I didn’t find anything romantic about it. There are typos, but I received an ARC, so hopefully, they won't appear in the final edition.
Even though I gave this one three stars, there were moments when I felt like this book would be someone's favourite. It's just the miscommunication in it wasn't my thing and I hate that both Byron and Sammy weren't completely honest with each other. If you were planning to run anyway, why not just tell him how you feel? She didn't even give him the chance to break her heart and she's saying that he did. You didn't even give him your heart for him to break it!
First of all, thank you @katieandbreapa and @keighleybradford for allowing me to read this book.
I enjoyed this story so so much! It’s one of those books you can only put down when you’ve finished it.
Sammy and Byron have been best friends since they were little and spend all the time together. But somewhere along the way, the lines got blurred, and they fell in love with each other. Enter one trope I hate, miscommunication. And, of course, none of them owned up to their feelings. Time passed, and how they dealt with it (or lack of it) threw them apart, leading Sammy to believe she had to cut all communications with Byron and run away.
One morning, a single event has two different meanings for the friends: Byron finally finds Sammy after searching for her for so long, and Sammy sees her new world crashing down when all she ran away from comes back into her life. Of course, Byron won’t let her slip through his fingers again, but Sammy won’t want to go back to what they were.
Overall, I enjoyed this mix of sweet and spicy friend-to-lovers romance. I loved the characters and how they had depth, with their family problems and the information from their past that we were given. I was left wanting to know more about Kelsey and Kimberley, they seem to be two sources of good stories, and I need a book about Liv and Derek. The plot was interesting and funny - I laughed so much with this book - and I liked the writing style. I think the only aspect I didn’t enjoy was when the characters’ thoughts got a bit repetitive throughout the book.
Also, another pro of this book, if you search for it, you will see it has a very affordable price. Go give it a try!
This sweet romantic comedy took me by surprise. The cover, although lovely and eye catching, doesn't indicate just how spicy this book is. The spice definitely was a welcome surprise.
This story tells the second chance romance of two best friends, Byron and Sammy, who fell out of touch when one fell in love with the other and needed to break free before her heart was broken irreparably. What follows is a fun way of winning back a best friend while inserting some benefits along the way.
It did feel a little long for me, and I constantly felt like some subplots didn't need to be there but all in all, the story was great. A fantastic friends to lovers romance for those who love that trope.
