Celebrate the winter solstice with Sabrina Spellman in this special holiday one-shot that returns to the acclaimed world of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch series! First, in “The Longest Night,” at Sabrina’s magic boarding school, she and her friends work together on the longest night of the year to save their friend enthralled by a dark and clever Beast, impossible to kill in his own world, and difficult to kill in our own. Then, in “A Very Spellman Solstice,” a flash backstory shows young Zelda and Hilda breaking tradition to go to a school dance, but when Hilda joins forces with one of the ghosts of Solstice past, it curses their night out. Writer Kelly Thompson and artists Veronica and Andy Fish return for another bewitching Sabrina story, along with the team of writer Danielle Paige and artist Veronica Johnson for a festive flashback story!
KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.
Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.
Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.
Two cute, if forgettable, Sabrina holiday stories.
The Longest Night <--by Kelly Thompson I've enjoyed Thompson's work on Sabrina. Wish she were still writing it. This could have been a really good story but the whys and hows just aren't there, and it possibly just needed a bit more page time to give the plot a bit of backstory. The skinny gist is that Sabrina and a few friends rescue another witch pal from a baddie. During the holidays.
A Very Spellman Solstice <-- by Danielle Paige The Spellaman aunts tell Sabrina a story about the past. It was also ok but for some reason, the art style didn't do it for me in this one.
I don't think I'd recommend this to anyone who wasn't specifically looking for a Sabrina Holiday Special, but it wasn't terrible.
I wish this had been a little longer because both stories could have easily been a full-length comic on their own. This is a fun little holiday read though!
This was a cute intro into the Sabrina comics! I do wish the stories were a bit longer, but it was a good way to explore the comics a bit and get a feel for this illustrator & author.
I wish this had more than two stories like I initially thought. I much prefer the first for the plot and art style, which is unfortunate since it’s the shorter of the two. I adore the cover and will be adding it to my Christmas decorations.
At first it was great, the art the story! I needed more. But then we came back to the house and Sabrina's aunt started telling a story and we never got context to the first part, and sabrina wasn't in most of the story, the art changed and I was just disappointed cause it wasn't what I was promised at all.

Picked this one up today to have on hand for the winter season. Quick read, while I do wish the stories had been a bit longer, it was still enjoyable. Always a sucker for Hilda stories, so the second storyline reeled me right in. It was wholesome and utterly heartwarming. Will revisit during the second storyline during the holiday season.
The first story is perfect, with it's only flaw being that it's too short. Why Archie craps out dozens of mediocre fillers per year but only one Sabrina story in the same timeframe will forever drive me insane. As if year THREE without another Chilling Adventures entry wasn't maddening enough. I've missed this world and Veronica's wonderful art, here's hoping to more in the future...
I liked the aunts’ story more than the school story which was too short. I wouldn’t mind reading more in the school story setting but there wasn’t much here to grab onto besides a killer bat from the other realm. The aunts one had more of a plot.
