Son of the Wolf

Rate this book
The vanhat have been stopped for now, but the war isn’t close to being over.

Prime Minister Mathison must consolidate power and bind the Governance to his will if he is to save the human race. And for that to happen, Stathis will have to become the spearhead of his efforts, because the vanhat will not give up, and they are not the only threat. Becket must also be dealt with, or he may destroy the Governance from within.

But is Stathis ready to be the spearhead? He’d better be, for there is no one else Mathison can turn to, and the need is greater than they know.

The war against the vanhat has only just begun, but the vanhat are not the only ones seeking to destroy the human race. The AI Collective has been waiting to finish what they started when they destroyed the United States of America, and they’re now ready to move.

One of the best series ever.

I have read sci Fi all my life and this in my opinion is one of the best. The characters have a depth to them that is unbelievable. I love Heinlein's Starship Troopers but this comes in a very close second.

Stathis vs Bambi & Mathison vs bureaucracy

Taking over an empire is no easy task. What comes next is even worse. Mathison takes a side seat in this novel as he, Feng, and Skadi deal with trying to redo the SOG from the inside put. Stathis is sent off world to try and track down President Becket, who is revealed to have been taken over by an AI. This books isn't nearly as fast paced as the previous ones, but after 6 novels at breakneck speed, a slower pace is welcome. Stathis has to grow up, but he still retains his sense of humor. And then has to fight mutant Bambi. It's great. Now it's time to go beat up the evil computers

You think the story ended with the landing on the Moon ?
Wrong, it was only the beginning. OK, Earth is saved, the S.O.G. has been overthrown and the Marines are in charge, and yet... it's only the beginning, because the bad guys are still out there, still probing the defenses and ...
Oh well, guess what, there is another baddie around...
Great read, lots of action, lots of humor, very solid plotting.
And.... for better of worse.... Stathis got a promotion.

I am confused as to the title of this book? Unless it is about our young Plt growing up and becoming a n officer and gentlemen? I will leave it at that.
I have enjoyed this series of books since book 1. The writer is adding in some weird issues as we go along. You can pick your own discripter.

I will be back for more!!!

great second half

This book was saved by its second half. I found the politics of the first half tiring and I struggled to get through but the second half saved the book.

Arg so much politics

Obviously starting a new story arc but after going from the action of the previous books this one is slow and repetitive.
