This was a fun idea, but the rhymes and rhythm of the story is a little forced and that takes away from the effect.

A slightly lengthier countdown book with the cute idea of a cow competition to see who can jump over the moon. Some fun and creative ways the cow contestants use. A lot of humor that I think would be wasted on the younger audiences. I also don't think this book would be as good for a storytime because of the various illustration panels to show the action (4 to a spread), as well as the various speech bubbles to consider fitting in (I would not have tried) and the aforementioned missed humor. The rhymes helped the text move a little. Some thrown in obvious cow humor (i.e. riding a mootorcycle) near the end that seemed out of place since it wasn't used throughout the book.

This a great book for kindergarten when teaching to count backwards. The cows in the book count back from ten to one.
