Can a snowstorm in Jubilee change Ava Monroe's life forever?
When Ava Monroe's escape to the Blue Ridge Mountains takes a treacherous turn, she finds herself stranded in a snowstorm, her world upended on a desolate mountain road. With her beloved boxer dog missing and her car buried in snow, hope seems lost until Deputy Jack Sullivan emerges through the forest — a strapping, lumberjack-like figure, who is as tough and abrasive as the winter elements.
In the quaint town of Jubilee, Georgia, Ava's tearful plight on the mountain is just the beginning. Jack, with his gruff exterior and a heart of hidden depth, reluctantly aids her search for her missing dog. His tough demeanor challenges Ava, yet his unexpected acts of kindness begin to pierce through the haze of her tumultuous escape.
As Ava delves deeper into Jubilee's embrace, she finds more than just a refuge from the storm. The town, with its welcoming arms and Jack's begrudging assistance, kindles a flicker of hope and strength she thought had vanished. However, just as she starts to adapt to this new life, her past refuses to stay behind. The sudden appearance of her celebrated ex-fiancé threatens to shatter the fragile peace she's found.
Blue Ridge Breakdown is not just a tale of survival and rescue; it's a journey of finding resilience and unexpected companionship in the most unlikely places. In the snow-dusted corners of Jubilee, where every path can lead to a new beginning, Ava must confront her past and decide what, and who, truly defines her future.

So who am I? My name is Rachel Hanna, and I am a wife, mother of three incredible kids (maybe I am a BIT biased?), two lovable doggies and one cat that lives outside and thinks he owns the world. Okay, I also have a gecko now too. Don't judge me.
I started writing as a young child, and I went into the field of Journalism for many years as an adult. Now, as a romantic fiction writer, I get to live out my own daydreams every single day and share them with readers around the world!
I'm a Southern chick living near Atlanta, so I say "yes, ma'm" and "ya'll", but I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
Eva’s circumstances are hilarious. This is such a rom-com; it has so many Christmas movie vibes. I absolutely loved the fact that there wasn't exactly a miscommunication or misunderstanding trope here and that the angsty portion was so short and resolved quickly. LOVED. IT.
I hate when romance books spend chapters and chapters into the angst because I just don't want to read that! Whenever I (rarely) feel like reading a romance, I already know what I want: sweet, fluffy, candy books. And this was exactly that; for some reason, it is quite difficult to find books like these that satiate my palate, so much, much love to Rachel Hanna.
A cute, albeit predictable, little romance. I liked that she escaped in the old truck, it’s cute to think she was driving around in that piece of history. I was also pretty worried about the dog but happy that she found a nice warm home to rest in before finding her owner again.
🌀Synopsis Ava doesn’t know where she’s headed, only that she needs to leave immediately. She takes off with her dog in her old truck and things don’t turn out so well. She ends up in a ditch in the snow, sure they’re going to freeze to death. Then when she opens the door to the truck her dog bounds out and she can’t look for her in the blizzard. Not sure what to do, Ava hunkers down in the truck and her only hope is that someone will pass by and see her. Luckily for her Jack happens upon her path and when he throws open the door she’s shocked by how handsome this guy is. He convinces her to come back to his cabin to wait out the rest of the blizzard. As she waits for her truck to be fixed and searches for her dog, she realizes she loves this charming little town she happened upon. After some time with him, she realizes she loves Jack, too. When her past comes knocking she needs to decide if she wants to go back or find a way to tell Jack how she feels.
While Blue Ridge Breakdown showcases Rachel Hanna’s signature ability to craft heartwarming, clean stories, this book and series overall didn’t quite measure up to my favorites from her. The story is pleasant and easy to read, but it didn’t captivate me the way some of her other series have. It’s a nice, feel-good book, but nothing that stood out as particularly memorable. I’d rate both the book and the series 3 stars—a solid, enjoyable read, but not among her best.
Rachel Hanna's Blue Ridge Breakdown is a very sweet, wintertime small town romance. I enjoyed the audio version of this book which is nicely performed by Anne Smith.
Ava gets stuck in a snowstorm when her truck fails, and hunky Jack braves the weather to rescue her. There's a nice insta attraction romance between Ava and Jack, and some interesting supporting characters as well.

This is what I call a cozy romance. We have Ava, who is escaping her current situation and finds herself stranded in a snowstorm. When she gets out to see if she can get any cell reception, her beloved boxer, Molly, makes a mad dash out into the snow.
Ava is beside herself with worry for her dog, but she knows it is too dangerous to go out into the storm. So, she goes back to her car, hoping and praying someone will find her before it is too late.
Jack finds her and gives her shelter, and things are sparking, and it is not a one-way street. Jack offers to help Ava find Molly as soon as it's not dangerous for them to start looking.
Who doesn't love a small-town romance? This was precisely that, and I am here for it. The narration was perfect for these two.
Short, sweet, light, small town surprise romance. Ava was a contestant on a “Bachelor” type show and got picked out of the many women by the uber wealthy “Bachelor”. While in her wedding dress and about to walk down the aisle she has a “what have I done?” and climbs out the bathroom window and drives away with her beloved dog in her old truck. A snowstorm, very old truck, small winding road, a runaway dog all lead to a sweet happily ever after in her new found town where she is embraced and loved. A delightful easy listen with wonderful narration. Hoping that there is more to come from this sweet series, but in my opinion this can be read as a stand alone without missing a beat.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.com in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This was short and sweet, listen. Set in the winter, it was a nice change of scenery for a hot day. This is part of a series, and although you didn't need to read the previous books to get through this book, I think I would have enjoyed it more with a bit of backstory the other books would have provided. Im a fan of insta-love, and this was very much with so our main characters falling in love over the course of less than a week. Being that this story was so short, the love aspect felt pretty rushed but was still an enjoyable listen. I also enjoyed the narration and thought it was nicely performed. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the opportunity to listen and review this advanced copy.
This book was about a heartwarming unexpected love story between two complete strangers that met under a possible catastrophic event. A blinding snowstorm. Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains. All I was missing was a cup of hot chocolate and a goose feathered comforter wrapped around me. I loved this book.
I really enjoyed this book! The sense of community that Jubilee has is so heartwarming, everyone is kind to one another and ready to help others. The characters are friends that are more like family, and I love how Rachel carefully addresses each of their stories in her chapters. I can’t wait for the next book!
I haven't read any of the other books in the Jubilee Series, so maybe that didn't help me here. But it felt like a super scattered book and we really didn't get much depth. The author hinted at a lot but nothing ever felt like it truly mattered. Not very memorable.
Did not like this book at all. Admittedly, I did not read the first three in the series. The writing was basic. The narrative jumped too much. No character development. Would rate zero stars if I could.
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it so much that it seemed way to short and I wanted it to continue. While I haven't read the other books in the series, I didn't need to in order to read this book and understand what was going on. A rom-com romance because of a snow storm and small town members accepting another into their family. Plus the narrator was great. I will for sure go back and read some of the other books in this series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the arc.
Honestly this book was below Hallmark Movie level. I live Hallmark movies, they are comforting and low-stakes. This had zero stakes. Also, I listened to the audiobook and it was horrible. The transitions made it really difficult to follow. Note to the narrator and editor, there should be a pause when starting a new paragraph and there should be a bigger pause for a scene change.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select and Rachel Hanna for gifting me this ALC of the audiobook to review.
This is a very short small-town romance.
The focus of the story is on Ava and Jack, but part of it also focuses on Madeleine and Brady and other inhabitants of Jubilee. When I picked this book up, I thought it was a standalone romance and the first part of the series and while the storyline of Ava and Jack can be read as a standalone, the other parts, mainly the ones about Madeleine and Brady don’t work so well without having read the previous books in the series. It is not that the storyline of Madeleine and Brady is not understandable without the other books, or that a lot is being recapped, it is that their parts didn’t add anything to the story. This is probably all right for all those readers who are revisiting their favourite couple from book one (I believe), but as a new reader, I just didn’t feel anything and therefore didn’t care about their story. I might have to read the other books of the series to change my mind.
The addition of the Madeleine/Brady story also made the pacing of the story a bit strange. While Madeleine/Brady galivant around town looking at Brady’s new house, Ava and Jack are still stuck indoors and haven’t even started looking for Millie, Ava’s dog. I liked the Ava’s and Jack’s story. It was a cosy read without any triggers. I thought it was a little weird how it was obvious to both Jack and Ava that she would stay at Jack’s hut even after the snowstorm had passed, even though they initially only discussed her staying the night, but I am willing to forgive this little oddity because Jack is very sweet and even bought some shoes for Ava. Given that the majority of the book is during a snowstorm, the cover with its flowers and lack of snow that gives off spring/summer vibes is a bit misleading and could lead to some expectations of readers not being met.
I listened to the audiobook: The narrator was very understandable also at higher speeds, but the editing could have been done a little better. There was barely any breathing room between two chapters. Sometimes it even felt a bit like the last word of the previous chapter was cut off a bit. Massive breaks between chapters are obviously also annoying, but I have never listened to an audiobook where the break was this abrupt. It also doesn’t help that the narrator doesn’t distinguish between the different storylines in her voice acting. Without giving the different sections a headline who they are about, it was sometimes very hard to understand who’s part of the story the narrator was focusing on at the moment. I especially had a hard time with this at the beginning of the book, as I didn’t even know there would be a different storyline apart from Ava’s and Jack’s. Chapter 9 and possibly other chapters also had a grainy sound in to recording.
All in all, this is a very cosy read that reminded me a lot of the TV show ‘Virgin River’.
Book Title: Blue Ridge Breakdown Sea Glass Summer Series: Jubilee Series Book #4 Format: 🎧 Author: Rachel Hanna Narrator: Anne Smith Publisher: Dreamscape Select /Rachel Hanna Genre: Women’s Fiction/ Romance Audiobook Pub Date: April 16, 2024 My Rating: 3.5 rounded up
Aww this is only my second Rachel Hanna. The other was Sea Glass Summer. My reaction to it is the same as this one- “A quick light enjoyable read.”
Ava Monroe is a runaway Bride. She met her fiancé via a reality show only she knows she doesn’t love him and marrying him is a mistake. She decides to escape to Jubilee, Georgia in the Blue Ridge Mountains a place she has only read about. She grabs some clothes and Millie her boxer dog, and takes off in a vintage red truck. Only she did not check the weather and heads into a blizzard. Only the truck slides into a snow bank and she is stranded. Not only that but she opened the truck’s door Millie took off running. ~ Thus the title Blue Ridge breakdown! Luckily a “Good Samaritan’ comes to her rescue and takes her to his cabin to warm up.
Since her decision making skills aren’t all that great; she does have some fear he might take her back to his cabin and killer her. She decides she is too cold and will have to take her chances. He turns out to be an ex-deputy now a member of a Rescue team who checks the mountains roads for anyone stranded. He not only provides her with a warm place to stay but also volunteers to help look for Mellie in the morning.
There is another story going on in Jubilee with Madeline who runs a bookstore.
This is the eleventh book in the South Carolina Sunsets series. However, it is my first! It wasn’t difficult connecting with characters.
If you are a romance reader, you know a romance story it is one that gives readers the sense that something is going to get better. This was a sweet story; however, since this is a series, I wasn’t positive if there was going to be a HEA and may have to reads next in the series.
I did enjoy this and I also love a good Audiobook but a bit disappointed that the narrator was that - a narrator. She really wasn’t performing the characters. I could not distinguish Ava from Madeline. Whereas other times there would be a voice differences in other characters. Hmmm!
I want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Select/Rachel Hanna and for this audiobook.. Audiobook Publishing Release Date scheduled for April 16, 2024
Another beautiful story by Rachel Hannah in the Jubilee Series. This is book #4.
We open up with Ava and Millie running to get away....and they drive right into a huge snow storm. As Ava realizes that she is running out of gas in her old, vintage, red truck...well, it just dies. And when she opens up the door to evaluate next steps in the snowstorm, well, Millie, her beloved boxer, jets out of the car...right into the storm.
As Ava sits in the car, freezing and despairing (in turns)...she just wants to die....
But, along comes Deputy Jack...to the rescue. He gets her to his cabin...nice and warm...and they talk. They set out looking for the dog as soon as the weather clears a bit, but they do not find her...
BUT, Ava starts to see that the quaint little town of Jubilee is actually a wonderful place to be...with caring people, kind neighbors, and just an absolutely beautiful all around vibe...
3 1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 for me, rounded up to 4.
#BlueRidgeBreakdown by #RachelHannah.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeSelect for an ARC of the audiobook which releases on 4/16/24...so just about a week from now.
Cons: Once again, I'm hoping that this might just be an ARC problem, but not really sure? The narrator, does not stop, breathe, or give any indication that we are changing people, places, etc...we just go from one chapter to the next with a 'chapter 2'...which is kind of odd...and I do listen to a LOT of audiobooks. I actually looked to see if it was maybe a computer reading it, but no, it is a person...so that's just strange to me. Also, when I looked back on others in this series that I've read, I said the exact same thing... no change in inflection, no change in tone. Different people, but everyone sounds pretty much the same... Sorry...just my opinion, but wanted to get it out there.
Thoughts?? Has anyone else listened to this one?? Thanks!

This is the fourth book in The Jubilee Series. While this particular book doesn’t expand much on the residents of Jubilee that we’ve come to know and love in previous books it does touch some on them. Instead, we see a newcomer in town, Ava Monroe, a runaway bride trying to escape some poor decisions and a marriage with a man she doesn’t love.
Ava was unwilling to leave behind the vintage truck that belonged to her father, the one thing she had left of him that she’d help her grandfather restore. She felt like she was fleeing for her life, and when you are in fight or flight mode, you tend to go with no thoughts on where or how you will get away.
In her escape, Ava finds herself in Jubilee, stranded on the side of a mountain during a snowstorm with her Boxer Millie. Millie escapes and runs off into the storm and Ava takes shelter in her truck with an almost empty tank, waiting for someone to come along and find her. Jack Sullivan finds Ava, rescues her, and takes her back to his cabin until the storm subsides.
The people of Jubilee welcome Ava as they help her search for Millie. However, the past that Ava is running from soon catches up to her, a past she has kept secret from Jack and everyone else she has come to know in Jubilee. Will they still accept her once they know the truth? Venture back to Jubilee and make some new friends in the latest book from Rachel Hanna; you won’t regret it!
A sweet small town romance that features a runaway bride who was on a reality show. Ava just couldn’t go through with the marriage to a man she didn’t love. After her getaway she hops into her red vintage pickup truck with her faithful dog. Not planning where she was going has her in the middle of a snowstorm, trying to get cell service she opens the door and her dog escapes. Freezing she goes back into her truck and tries to get warm, but is running out of gas. Jack as part of the rescue team he is on, decides to make one more run down the road for anyone who may need help. When he stops at the red truck and sees the woman is listless he helps her to his truck instead of giving her a tow. Taking her back to his cabin to get her warm, he promises her as soon as it is safe they will look for her dog. A sweet slow romance begins between the two. There are other storylines going on that probably are a continuation from the previous books, but can be read or listened to as a standalone. It did seem in the narration that it was a bit rushed or skipping from one scene to another without a pause. Probably reading would be a little less confusing. I rate it 3.5 🌟. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley. #BlueRidgeBreakdown
Adult contemporary romance. Ava winds up on the side of a mountain road in a vintage old truck, out of gas, no cell signal, and not even a coat to her name. All she has is her dog Millie, until she opens the door searching for cell service and Millie runs off. Just when Ava thinks this might be the end for her, Jack comes along out of the mountains to rescue her. He takes Ava home, lets her warm up, feeds her, and eventually helps her get the truck running and look for Millie. But with the rate of the snow, this all takes several days (the reader is clued in on Millie's whereabouts, not left to worry about her well-being). And Ava doesn't want to return to the situation she fled. Where is she even headed?
This is a cute, short, romance where the protagonists meet pretty quickly. We find out more about them as the story progresses and get to watch them each open their hearts to the other. There are also scenes featuring other characters, presumably met earlier in the series. I was a bit lost on some of those scenes but overall it worked as a standalone. Good guy, damsel in distress, small town where everyone know each other, worked out to a sweet feel-good story.
Thank you to netgalley & dreamscapeselect for the advanced reader copy of this audiobook!
Summary: Ava is on the run from her very public almost wedding, when she finds herself stranded in a snowstorm on the Blue Ridge Mountains in the tiny town of Jubilee, Georgia. If that wasn’t bad enough when she steps out of her car to try to find an area with cell service, her beloved dog, Millie runs away. Ava tries calling for her and going after her, but the conditions are too dangerous. Then comes along Jack Sullivan, who was checking to see if anyone needs help along the roads. He sees her stranded truck and takes her to shelter back at his house and promises to help her find her dog when the weather is better. But the more time Jack & Ava spend together in this town, the more she realizes she might be falling for not only the man but the town as well.
Thoughts: A love story based around a woman looking for her missing dog and finding a man who is just as invested in helping her find that dog. What more could I ask for in a romance? I felt myself panicking when the dog got away in the middle of that snowstorm and was very relieved when she was rescued. I immediately fell in love with all the characters, but particularly with our main couple, the runaway bride and the heroic mountain man. This was a wonderful small-town romance.
This is book 4 in the Jubilee series. And once again it was worth returning to Jubilee. There are stories that we return to because of the characters, this is the place that captures us and makes us yearn for more. I would give anything to visit Jubilee, this magical land that works like a mirror and makes you see your true reflection. In addition to the sweetness with which the author writes, this volume 4 has a very interesting theme, a bride who participates in a reality show to find her future husband and ends up running away on her wedding day. Not to mention that Eva has a four-legged best friend and that in itself is reason to love this book. The point I liked least was when Eva meets Millie, I was expecting the scene to be stronger and more striking, but apart from that point, the whole book is a delight. Light and relaxed to help me relax.
Ava is a runaway bride. She was supposed to marry a man she finally realized she didn’t love, the culmination of a reality TV show. Deciding she couldn’t go through with it, she climbs out a restroom window in her wedding dress, gets her dog, and flees in her old pickup. She ends up in Jubilee in a terrible snowstorm. Sliding into a ditch, her dog panics and runs off, and she is left to shiver in a truck that is out of gas. Luckily for her, she is rescued before she can freeze to death. Jack, a deputy, finds her and takes her home to his cabin. And from the depths of despair, Ava will soon reach the pinnacle of happiness, if she is only brave enough to reach for it. Visiting Jubilee is always fun. This installment centers on a new character but there are cameos by the regular cast as well. It’s a quick read, enjoyable and entertaining.
Ava Monroe, while running from decisions made in her past, lands in quaint Jubilee by mere happenstance. Vision obscured by a snowstorm that had turned everything into a blur of white, Ava finds herself being rescued by a handsome resident of Jubilee, Jack. Can Ava hide from her past in Jubilee, or will everyone soon find out? Rachel Hanna brings two incredible new members to the Jubilee family with Ava and Jack, and continues to build on the members that we all love and cherish. Hanna creates, yet again, another wonderful book filled with laughter, joy, and the range of human emotions while the citizens of Jubilee grab a place in your heart. So, sit back and enjoy Hanna's new book, as she keeps you wanting to read more and more about the Jubilee family.
Blue Ridge Breakdown was another great book in the Jubilee Series. I enjoyed watching Jack and Ava develop a relationship. Jack is one of those men people are drawn to with his kind heart. He quickly became my favorite character in this book. I love reading books in a series. So exciting when other characters I have come to know and love resurface. Hearing about Madeline and Brady and Clemmy and the others added to my excitement. I wish Jubilee was a real place I could visit! As with all of Rachel Hanna’s books I simultaneously didn’t want to put it down but also didn’t want it to end. Her endearing characters make me feel like I am making new friends and I don’t want their stories to end, yet I can’t wait to see the outcome! I give this book 5 stars! Can’t wait for the next one!
Ava Monroe escapes to the Blue Ridge Mountain, in her fathers old restored pick up truck. Unfortunately, during a snowstorm, she ends up in the ditch. What makes matters worse is that she is low on gas & her beautiful dog has run off. A strong, tough Deputy Jack rescues her. Ava & Jack continue looking for her beloved dog. Things really get crazy when Ava's ex-fiance shows up in Jubilee. In the snowy, peacful town of Jubilee, where every path can lead to a new beginning, Ava must confront her past and decide what, and who, defines her future. ***I was an ARC reader on this book. I really enjoyed this 4th book in the Jubilee series. Thank you, Rachel Hanna for delivering yet another superior read 📚 . 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Blue Ridge Breakdown by Rachel Hanna was the first book I have read by this author. I am so glad I got the Audiobook of it to listen to on my trip. Ava Monroe made a huge decision in her life the minute she saw the open window and became a runaway bride! What an adventure this one moment started for her. Little did she know how her life would go when she got stuck in a snowbank during a snowstorm and her dog jumped out of the truck and ran away. At the point she was convinced this was where her life would end a man stopped and saves her. I don’t want to give a lot away but let me say I loved this book! I am now hooked on Rachel Hanna books. Thank you NetGalley, and Rachel Hanna for the audiobook of Blue Ridge Breakdown. This is my personal review.
Ava and Jack are such an opposites attract couple in "Blue Ridge Breakdown" by Rachel Hanna. I loved listening to this shorter audiobook and the narration was excellent. Ava escapes from her wedding, goes over the mountain to Jubilee and gets stuck in the snow during an intense snowstorm. Her dog runs off on her and she's stuck in her car not knowing if she'll survive. Along comes Jack and as they say...the rest is history.
There is some angst due to Ava's past and a cast of eclectic characters. I really enjoyed this book and recommend this to fans of Rachel Hanna and clean romance books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for an opportunity to preview this audiobook. All opinions expressed are my own.
I enjoyed "Blue Ridge Breakdown" by Rachel Hanna. It was a cozy and hopeful book in spite of some stressful moments such as trucks breaking down and lost dogs. I find these types of books as good comfort and distraction reads in today's times. Because I have not read the first three books in the series, some of the side characters were a bit confusing for me. Still the author had strong character development with the main characters and told an engaging story in a short time. I enjoyed the narrator as well. Good for fans of Robyn Carr novels. Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the eARC.
