Sara is almost 18. But she isn't looking forward to her birthday; she has to decide if she's going to stay in the foster care system for a few more years, or if she's going to try to figure life out on her own. Written in verse, this story highlights the struggles of young people aging out of foster care.
From the back of the book: "Sara is almost eighteen. Her social worker says she can stay in foster care a little longer if she needs to, but she isn't sure what she wants."
Great, so far. Very engaging, and the author ends the book with a plea to readers to take action in their own communities. Again, this is a book of fiction, but it is a true story. What happens in the Foster Care system needs to be clear.
I loved this book. It's a very quick read, accessible to a wide range of readers, and it has real information that motivates readers to not only succeed, but to have compassion for others who face unimaginable challenges.
