From the ashes of Firesight, the saga deepens with the chilling secrets of Frostsight.

In a world ensnared by Shadows, Tiber and Luci race against time, chasing cryptic visions of an elusive dragon.

After a daring escape from Emperor Skardin’s storm dragon, Tiber and his friends venture into the icy northern mountains in search of the legendary frost dragon. But danger follows, with old enemies hot on their trail and new threats lurking in the forests.

Tiber and Luci are faced with the agonizing forge ahead in their quest for the dragon or defend the people from the emperor’s rage.

And deep within the black forest of the Dreadwood, whispers of power and glory tempt even the bravest of souls.

The journey continues with Frostsight, the thrilling sequel to the award-winning Firesight, where the battle for dragons could extinguish the Shadows - or cast the realm into an endless night.

Perfect for fans of Eragon’s epic heroes and Percy Jackson’s fast-paced adventures, the Dragon Guardian Chronicles proves that in the darkest of Shadows, the strongest Light shines from within.

I’ve always loved a good hero. Growing up, I played with Ninja Turtles as much as Barbie dolls. I had to be home in time to watch the Power Rangers every day, and I will forever be the Pink Ranger.

And then there were the books—so many good books. I loved getting lost in new worlds, and eventually, making up my own. I don’t think it can get better than that, except with a big mug of Community Coffee in my hand.

I grew up in Louisiana, so what other coffee brand is there? I still live in a small Cajun town with my husband and five children. I wake up early and write most mornings, then homeschool the kids. The rest of the day is open to shenanigans, and hopefully, I get some time to read.

Did I mention I drink a lot of coffee?

I always dreamed of being an author, and now that dream is happening with the publication of my first novel, Firesight. It’s a little hard to believe that I got to live in these characters’ heads, and now you do too!

I received an ARC copy of Frostsight in exchange for an honest review. I was not otherwise paid and am leaving this review of my own free will. Minor spoilers ahead, but nothing that will spoil your enjoyment of the book. If you have not yet read Firesight, I suggest you do so before reading this review, as some details of Firesight might be spoiled for you.

Somehow, I enjoyed this book even more than Firesight! As with Firesight, I once again appreciate that the story is completely clean. It's incredibly hard to find good books that are appropriate for young readers. There are mentions of romance and a romantic subplot for a couple of characters, but there is nothing even remotely graphic or explicit. It's very appropriate for the age of the characters involved. There are also moments of violence and epic battles, but nothing is ever gory or described in detail. There is no foul language. I would be comfortable allowing a child of any age who was ready for chapter books to read this. I would say the sweet spot age would be 10-14 years, but I enjoyed it as an adult fan of fantasy.

One of my favorite things Jessica Deen Norris has done in both books are her prologues that aren't about the main characters, but whose stories come back to provide context and significance later. Maja's murder in the prologue of the first book, for example, is more important than just as a device for showing how ruthless and merciless Skardin is. Her death sets off a string of events that is made more clear in Frostsight, and that I'm sure will continue to be significant in Stormsight. I love when authors take the time to provide larger-world context outside of just their main cast. It makes the story more immersive.

Once again, the character arcs are great. One of the main struggles Tiber, Luci, and their friends face is trying to find the Frost Dragon before Skardin can her in his clutches, and they have to figure out how to do that together. However, finding the frost dragon is not nearly as straightforward for Luci as finding Izzy was for Tiber. Is Luci even the Frostsight at all? Was she wrong? The conflict created there, both between Tiber and Luci and for Luci within herself, made the characters feel realistic despite the high fantasy setting. Luci, like all of us at points in our lives, struggles with self-doubt, with feeling like she isn't good enough, and with giving into her darker impulses. Losing Aurelia in Firesight has taken a toll on Luci and we see it in Frostsight. The race to find the frost dragon before Skardin can get to her brings all of this to the forefront for Luci, who, in the first book, seemed to have an easier time controlling her emotions and resisting temptation than Tiber did. The struggle to deal with all of this lends complexity to both Luci as a character and to the friendship between Luci and Tiber especially.

The effects of giving in to temptation are even more starkly demonstrated in Frostsight in the Dreadwood, where the Shadow Dragon is said to dwell. As in Firesight, Jessica Deen Norris does an excellent job of showing how tempting and manipulative evil can be. Temptations wouldn't be temptations if there weren't a false promise of some good outcome, right? Giving in to evil, however, always has negative consequences in both Firesight and Frostsight. Although the consequences of making immoral choices aren't always readily apparent in real life, I think that showing this more transparently in fiction meant for young readers is vital. In a culture where the villains are more and more often shown in a sympathetic light or even celebrated, it's refreshing to have a good old-fashioned story where, despite the fact that the protagonists do make mistakes and give into temptation at times, good is clearly good and evil is clearly evil.

This was a great read, and I am going to be on tenterhooks waiting for Stormsight!

Frostsight is a super well written dragon adventure fantasy for kids & teens! It is clean and appropriate for all ages. I would say it is more aimed toward kids, so as an adult I'm perhaps not in the best place to fully appreciate it. (I need to have my 10yo read it and update this with his thoughts!) However I really enjoyed the fantastic writing and forward momentum of the plot, as well as the two well-drawn main characters of Tiber and Luci.

There were some really great dragon battles in this one! And can I just say how beautiful the two covers are, with their lovely saturated colors and big, luminous dragon eyes? Can't wait to see the cover of book 3!

We learned a lot more about Luci and her family. She and Tiber are almost opposites in a way, in their family, experiences, and current situation - they really complement each other well! I loved seeing Luci's brother sticking up for her despite his anger and resentment over her leaving. It's such a poignant counterpoint to Tiber's treatment by his own sister.

Luci is so ANGRY throughout much of the book, doubting herself and everything, and I agree with another review about Tiber being very mature in dealing with her outbursts along with everything else. I was pretty frustrated along with Luci at how long it took to find the frost dragon!! But in the end it did become clear why that was (the dragon was scared and not trusting of humans).

Some questions I have (this may be an issue of my poor reading comprehension😅; if so, please let me know the answers!): I'm still not quite clear on why Luci had to leave with Aurelia in the first place? Also, why are the fire and frost dragons awakening now, at the same time and all of a sudden? Who is Skardin, how did he come to power, and how did he get the storm dragon? (I feel like there are hints that we'll get more of this story in the next book.)

Vondra, Warrick, and Izzy are all great companions and they get plenty of book time and character development here as well. But Luci and Tiber are the stars and this is their story. We're left on a huge cliffhanger and set up for a blockbuster finale (?) in book 3!

I cannot stop talking about this book! I didn't think it was possible to love it as much as the first, let alone even more! Tiber and Luci have grown so much in this series. Izzy and now Sapphire still have my heart ❤️ It is such an amazing story to read, I can't wait for book #3!

In the prologue, 2 brothers, Athan and Sebb, are merrily picking berries but soon discover they've ventured too far and are at the mercy of the Dreadwood Forest. And left me wondering what their significance was. Well THAT certainly became clear towards the end of the book! Intrigued! You should be...

Having reread book 1 in anticipation of book 2, I dived right into a whirlwind of emotions, from me, from Tiber, from Luci...a barrage against my senses as I mentally urged them to succeed. Because they had somehow managing to evade the grips of the evil emperor and his dragon, but are now facing new threats. Tiber, Luci and Izzy have fled north to try find the Frost Dragon but the terrain is frigid and very challenging and Luci fell right back into her disagreeable persona. I mentioned in my previous review of book one, that Luci evokes contradictory emotions in me, like a flower one pulls petals from, "I like her, I like her not" Not that one could blame her, it all seems to eluding her but, girl, you ain't the only one frustrated! The trio, together with the fairies, Warrick and Vonda, who are awesome BTW, and deserve a whole review dedicated solely to them, search in vain for the Frost dragon and Luci feels more and more responsible for their situation, hence the foul mooded Luci. They stumble across some Protectors and are "reunited" with Corbin and Ormund and the sweet rebellious Emerald. AND Luci finds her family! Everything should be right as rain, no? Ummmm....no....

As in the previous book, Jessica completely drew me in, captivating me from the onset, wanting to know how this would unfold. Not a huge surprise that Corbin is still his uptight self, Fritz is still, not sure what Fritz is really, I just know I REALLY don't like him and Ormund is still a kindly sweetheart and his relationship with Emerald beautiful. My word did I stand to attention when I discovered something about Emerald! No way was I expecting that! And heavens, once more, the author expands the characters beautifully, taking them through hoops, over hurdles, to the very edge of their tether, as they battle themselves, each other and the enemy. But who IS the enemy? Other than the emperor and his dragon? Well heck, there are all kinds of dangers and enemies at every turn, all kinds of expectations that fall dismally short, as the trio traverse these stormy waters. The shadows pose the greatest threat, the shadows feed on negative energy, on doubt, on anger, on jealousy, taking that emotional and manipulating it, twisting it with it's whispers of retribution, of grandeur awaiting, one only has to succumb....Jealousy is truly a vile emotion, it can set a sibling against the other, just like Katania set against Tiber and embraced evil, for the sole purpose to feel justified in her jealousy of him. And Fritz, heck, Fritz is jealous of everyone and everything! And yet... they both have their own story, a story that could, possibly, evoke some sympathy in me. Nah....choices are one's own and some of their choices really suck! And I was relieved that Luci was able to hold the shadows at bay, to see the truth, sometimes only in the nick of time, but still, a win is a win in my book! But not everyone is quite as resilient....

The pressure of the plot was so well delivered, a few very eye opening moments of surprise, with the pacing escalating to a crescendo. And the unfolding of events, glory be, some threw me for a loop! A jaw dropping loop! I was doing a jig with Tiber and Luci, one step forward, two steps back, is how the author keep your attention, you know what's going to happen next, or so you think.... very alluring and compelling. And as I get to the end of the book, I'm once more in a tizzy of angst, angst at WHAT has occurred, and angst at how they're going to get out of another dire situation! A wonderful, all encompassing read, one I highly recommend!

Frostsight takes off right where Firesight ended. Luci and Tiber are in the frigid mountains trying to find the frost dragon.

Tiber is loaded down with grief and regret while Luci is drowning in her self doubt.

Alot is happening in book 2 to reveal more of the magic system of the world and give us more info about the Dragon Guardians. I loved that we get a little more into what Skardin is about and find that his hold on power is actually not as strong as he makes his enemies believe. The storm dragon doesn't even seem to belong to him. But how then does he control everything? That's a discovery for book 3.

I enjoyed how Warrick and Vondra develop as more prominent characters. The Protectors and Seekers all finding their place as the story builds to the epic battle.

But, for some reason I felt like Tiber and Luci didn't have much character evolution during this book. Luci definitely seems to go in reverse for some time until she realizes she isn't alone. Well, she never really was alone from the start. She has always been with the Protectors, so I couldn't relate with her on her emotions. Tiber seemed to be barely holding the two of them together.

Towards the end Luci comes around to her true self and claims her dragon, Sapphire. The dragon had only been feeding on the insecurity it shared with Luci.

And then Izzy... poor Izzy. I won't give away what happens, but she is holding my attention for book 3.

"Remember to never trust a fairie."

This story has you gripped from start to finish with the incredible characters, fantasy world, and creative plot.
There's a shift in pace, the stakes have been upped, there's deeper character growth and development, and now there's a new dragon in the mix.
Your left wondering throughout who can be trusted and if allegiances will change as there seems to be a spy amongst them.
Tensions are high as Tiber and Luci must train their powers and continue the hunt for the illusive Frost dragon, but Luci is also torn by family loyalty.
Warrick and Vonda get to go on their own quest, we learn what lurks in dreadwood forest, and Tiber is once again confronted with his sister and her dark ambitions.
As they continue to resist the pull of the shadows, they must work together to save dragons, save the people, fight Skardin, and not lose themselves in the darkness.

This is packed with action, adventure, drama, betrayals, loss and dragons! It's an excellent YA series with plot twists, characters facing consequences and confronting loss, and the threat of enemies hidden and in plain sight.

This is a great series for kids and adults to enjoy. I'd highly recommend if you enjoy the likes of Eragon and How to train your dragon.
Both myself (adult fantasy book addict) and my niece (11 y.o fantasy book lover) are looking forward to reading the 3rd book Stormsight!

I loved this continuation of Tiber and Luci's story and the quest to find the frost dragon.

In this book you learn more about Luci and her family... and yes, there's some drama. Then there's the question of, is she really the frostsight, and if so, why isn't the dragon responding to her? Will Tiber, Luci, and their friends finally have two dragons and the advantage they need to defeat Skardin and the Shadow Knights once and for all?

Jessica did a great job with the pace of the story, including lots of action and plot twists, as well as connecting the reader to the characters and helping them feel the struggle each character was going through. There was often a battle going on in the individual's mind as to where they were going to draw their strength from, the Shadows or the Light; the Shadows offer a lot of power, but are the consequences worth it?
I received a free ARC of this book and happily reviewed it because it was amazing! I am very excited about the next book in the series.

First of all, the book cover is gorgeous! In this case, you really can judge a book by its cover. Frostsight follows up right where Firesight ended. There are many references to characters and events from the first book. This is a great action adventure book for anyone who loves dragons and fantasy novels. It’s an easy and interesting book to read for anyone from 4th grade to adults. You will enjoy this series if you like books about teens who are learning to use their magical powers and make a few mistakes along the way. (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, New Mutants, etc)
In this book, the focus is on Luci and her quest to find the frost dragon. Is she really the Frostsight with special powers that will allow her and the dragon to have visual telepathy OR is she just another guardian with magical gifts? There’s a lot of action in the second half of the book. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This review covers the 3 book set.  This trilogy is a great story.  It is an easy read, not complicated with made up terms like some other Scifi books.  This follows two main characters, Tiber and Luci who end up bonded to dragons as their unknown destiny as the Firesight and Frostsight as the first 2 book titles.  The Stormsight dragon being controlled by the evil emperor.  The story is not overly complex and full of basic human interaction even though faeries are involved as well.  You get invested in these characters and their friends as they grow and learn about friendship and betrayal and how to handle their abilities in a series long battle against an evil emperor who wants to rule all.   Familiar high level plot line but a different story.A nice addition to your library and appropriate for young adults and old alike.

Great book for a lighthearted fantasy read. Perfect for middle grade readers.
Through the protagonist, there are several themes and internal struggles. She has a physical disability that she learns to use as a strength, overcoming separation and resentment in lost relationships, dragon bonding struggles, learning to trust and depend on others, and owning up to mistakes and trying to make up for them.
The magic is unique in that it depends on what the wilder can recall as to where the powers will come from.
Though there is a slight love interest, this book is plot heavy with several overlapping relationships throughout the story.

I do wish this had been written for an adult audience! Feel like I would love it even more- but as I do not generally read books intended for middle school grade, it was still very amazing! The characters and world building were interesting and engaging! Love Luci, Tiber, Vondra, Warwick and the dragons! Definitely has some evil bad guys and some redeemable (even if with their last breath) bad guys (or gals) - can't wait for the final book!

Frostsight (The Dragon Guardian Chronicles #2) by Jessica Deen Norris is another great book by this writer. I definitely recommend. It is so good I am wishing I already had the next in series... In a world ensnared by Shadows, Tiber and Luci race against time, chasing cryptic visions of an elusive dragon. Will they find it on time and if they do find it will it be enough?

Just as the first, the second book was just as fun! I enjoyed the fact that you get both sides of the story between light and dark the entire time. Getting the events from the side of the shadows just gave it something extra.
Definitely excited to eventually get answers to the questions that came up at the end. I was scratching my head for sure.
Always such a great adventure with this story!

Another excellent read! Here we get to see Tiber coming into his own and Luci working to overcome her own securities. The shadow fairies were a nice twist as was Luci's battle with Shadow. The end battle was crazy paced and action filled. Tiber loses Izzy. There is another 'Sight'.

Can't wait for the next!

I was ready to jump on to this as soon as i finished Firesight. Unlike Firesight, there was little showing about the dragon itself. I kept reading to see how it’ll evolve and see its powers, but to my dismay, ‘twas more of hunting for it the whole time. I was disappointed that even I already have the printed copy of Stornsight, I read another series.

The second good, solid book in the series. I recommended my wife read it and she’s an avid fiction reader. The characters continued to develop and the story was fast paced without being too fast. Sadly, I now have to wait for book three to see how the story ends 😀

A great, easy to read book. I love how the characters each have their doubts and fears but are not overly whiny sounding. This book was better than the first with my suspense and twists. Perfect for YA. No spice, which I like better, but a growing romance that I'm hoping to see more of in book 3.

Thinking about this book for the target audience it merits a solid four star review. For the preteen and teenage group it's full of action and heart. Just don't go into the series expecting a ton of world or character building like you would from a book aimed at adults.
