I thought my past was behind me, but when a fire nearly claims my life, my only hope for escape is with a firefighter whose haunted eyes promise more than safety.
Lucas Heart is the man I owe my life to. After a suspicious fire leaves me nearly dead, he’s all I can think about. When he walks into my store and asks me out for a drink, it’s like a dream come true, and I can’t say no. The attraction between us is undeniable, but so is the pain we both carry. As our hearts entwine, I'm left wondering if this connection can lead to a love story as fiery and unpredictable as the flames that brought us together or if it’s destined to burn out as my past comes crashing back into my life.
If you love strong men who are a little rough around the edges but always seem to melt like a big marshmallow for the women they love, firefighters, and small-town romances set in the mountains, then check out Lucas and Sylvia's story today!
Lucas is an OTT instalove standalone novella and is the first book in the Scarlet Blazing Hearts series. Four firefighter brothers have made their home in the small mountain town of Scarlet Ridge. They're heroic, hot, and ready to love. They won’t ever cheat, are hopelessly devoted to their women, and will always do what it takes to guarantee a HEA with zero cliffhangers.
Ren Booth writes steamy, instalove stories featuring over the top heroes who are a little rough around the edges and the curvy ladies who make them melt. She doesn't write cliffhangers or cheaters and a happily-ever-after is always guaranteed. Ren lives deep in the Appalachian Mountains with her hubby, a couple of kids, and her fur babies. When she's not reading or writing, you can usually find her making memories with her loved ones.
Lucas is a fireman, the oldest of four brothers who followed in their father’s footsteps. The fire department received a call about a barn fire only to discover it was a prank call. Another fire was going on at a duplex around town. The brothers saw the smoke and responded where Lucas saved Sylvia. Sylvia believes the fire was no accident. Lucas asks her out. Both of them have a heartbroken past and are scared to move on. Could they be each others saving grace? This is such a heartwarming story about a second chance at love. They are perfect for one another and help each other move forward. Expect danger, chemistry, and steam. Lucas is such an alpha male protector. Sylvia is vulnerable and scared.

** 3.5 Stars ** Lucas Heart was one of the firemen responding to a fire where he rescues Sylvia who almost died until he resuscitated her. Lucas cannot stop thinking of the woman he rescued, and he finally asks her on a date. Sylvia is convinced that her psycho brother-in-law Brady Leary had started the fire as an act of revenge since he blames her for his brother’s death. Brady thinks she poisoned his brother Nick to get the life insurance payment, even though the autopsy and toxicology report say that is not how he died. Brady swore he would never let Sylvia live a long or happy life because she took that opportunity away from his brother. And now he is making death threats and leaving her messages. Will Lucas be able to keep her safe? Or will her stalker continue his vendetta until he finally succeeds?
Lucas is book 1 in the Scarlet Ridge: Blazing Hearts series. It is a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, protector, curvy girl gets her hunky firefighter romance. Sylvia is a sassy, curvy girl who runs a gift shop in town. Lucas is a hunky firefighter. The two meet when Lucas rescues her from a fire. The two feel an instant connection, but both have experienced heartbreaking loss in their pasts. Can they help each other to heal? The chemistry was hot 🔥 hot 🔥 hot 🔥. I just wanted these two to get their second chance at happiness. After a little drama, we got an amazing HEA. I'm looking forward to this whole series and the hot Heart brothers!.

I went into the book knowing it had insta-love, but this had the potential to be such a heart-melting slow burn.
I loved stories of characters healing from their past and learning how to love again. I wanted the story to be longer.
I'm not a fan of details not being described to me, like what people look like or the environment. I don't like to fill in the blank. I wanted to be submerged in the story, but I wasn't able to. The characters were flat, and I was told they had chemistry and attraction over being shown it.
MMC/FMC- Lucas and Sylvia POV- 1st person dual Genre- Contemporary Romance Length- novella Series? Y Safety? Definitely Triggers- Arson, Violence (punching, etc.) Language, Explicit Erotic Content. Tropes- Everyday Hero, Love After Loss, Rescue Romance, Sleeping Beauty, Firemen Are Hot, Heroic Fire Rescue. What I liked- though it was short, it was a complete story. And gotta love hot fireman brothers. What I didn’t- not a lot of chemistry. The attraction was told rather than shown. Verdict- this story is fine, but not great.

This was a fun insta-love series opener and I really liked Lucas and Sylvia. Sylvia has a bad past that follows her to her present/future and I was surprised at how that came to be and how it was resolved. That being said, both Lucas and Sylvia suffered great loss and were perfect for each other in their tentative reaching out to each other. They found they really could trust each other to fully dive in and the dreams were a fun connection. All in all, this was an entertaining read with an intro to a wonderful family :D
This is a curvy girl (apparently?), instalove novella and the MMC is a firefighter. Obviously you’ve got instalove, forced proximity, there are some triggers so; CHECK YA FUCKIN TRIGGERS PEOPLE.
Smut was like 2/5 on the spice scale, and it’s a HEA in a series of interconnected atandalones.
This was good for the vibes but honestly… I don’t see the point in advertising it as a curvy girl romance when it’s mentioned in one sentence that Sylvia is slightly bigger? Lucas was okay, no major red flags besides running head first into his relationships.
I found this story interesting, because of the past that had followed Sylvia and what both she and Lucas had been through respectively. I believed in their connection and chemistry and I enjoyed seeing them come together. I could have happily enjoyed a longer version of this story, but still enjoyed this version. I am looking forward to reading the next story from this series.

Thought I’d grab this book on stuff for Kindle day. I have to say that I thought it was a cute little read and I did really enjoy the storyline, especially both characters having lost their significant others before finding each other. I think my only critique would be that, obviously I know that it is a novella, but it moved an extremely fast pace. However, that being said I still loved the book.
Lucas is a sweet second chance novella with endearing characters and a bit of action. Main characters Lucas and Sylvia are each king and compassionate people grieving traumas from their pasts. They make the cutest pair with their selfless hearts and rampant insecurities about whether they are ready again. It’s ingenious how the author weaves them together and keeps readers engaged with the plot while also dropping hints about what could be coming. The sweet scenes are so touching.
Good bones to the story , Characters are interesting the plot is easy the book is read in a short amount of time couldn't ask for more from a book. It's a 1st of a series I gatheredFire fire firefighter Fire firefighter brothers working together Father was a fireman I'm sure I'm sure Some some people were read all the books in this seriesPeriodic.
Lucas and Sylvia both have lost their first loves. After he saves her from doing fire, they have an instant connection that leads them to taking a chance on love again. Short story, intro to other characters Easy to read and characters are unique in their own way
Breezed through this sexy short!! Excellent quick read that definitely had me feeling the heat! Highly recommend to anyone who likes strong protective alpha with a soft spot for heroine
The story and characters were great, but I wish this were more than a 74 pg novella. Even just another 100-150 pages with a little better pacing and this would be a 5 star. Nonetheless, it's a cute story
It was way too quick. I know it was meant to be a novella, but some of it was like whiplash with how quickly things happened. The smut was amazing; wish the story had a bit more.
This is my first book read by this author n it was ok. Its not what I expected. I'm not a fan of widowed spouse n the death of someone's true love. It's too heartbreaking. I hate when characters have to compete with a ghost. N feel like they come in 2nd to a ghost. Not a fan. Overall it was ok.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Lucas and Sylvia. The story keeps us turning the pages with danger, instant connection, letting go of the past heartbreak and steam.
