Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.

The Little People, BIG DREAMS series focuses on average people who achieve great things. The book does a good job covering important stages of Stan Lee's life without making it overwhelming, while also making it easy to understand. This would be a great choice for a younger reader who's interested in comics, especially Marvel.

I adore the fun illustrations and young reader-focused bios of famous people in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series, including this one on Stan Lee, creator of the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and other beloved super heroes. Also includes a timeline of Lee's life and historical photos that bring readers a full sense of this creative genius. Recommended!

The boy who loved to read and wanted new heroes created them in his mind and soon created a whole superhero universe for everyone.
The illustrations by Ana Albero are fun, simple, brilliantly colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Quarto Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you! Expected publication 2 July 2024

Love the Little People, Big Dreams series of books! This book is another cracker to add to the collection!
(I didn't realise that Stan Lee was a soldier in WW2!)

The illustrations are pretty poor in this book - very very loosely looks like Lee - feel like the illustrations have not been as good in the more recent books.

Nevertheless, It's a brilliant book and another classic in the Little People, Big Dreams series!

I am a big fan of the “Little people, BIG DREAMS” series, and have read a good share of them. They are always very well written and informative, but not overwhelmingly so.
I am also a fan of Stan Lee and enjoyed finding out more about him. A great book for both young and old!

Thank you to netGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

I feel like this one does a good job of illustrating the breadth of the people Maria covers in this series. I learned more about Stan Lee, but I wish I would have learned more. It felt more surface-level than some of her other ones in the series.

‘Stan Lee’ by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with illustrations by Ana Albero
is a biographical children's book from Little People, Big Dreams.

Little Stan Lee grew up in New York and was an avid reader. When he wasn’t reading, he was writing his own stories. His break came when he got hired by Timely Comics. Then he began creating his own characters and the rest was history.

I love this series and I’m glad to see them do one of my favorite famous people. The art is bright and colorful and I loved the nods to Stan Lee’s co-creators and creations.

Stan Lee is America’s comic world sweetheart.
Happy this book highlights his life with pretty great illustrations of its own.
I do wish there was a bit more of what creating comics entails for kids who may want to be writers, illustrators & artists themselves.
Also the writing is not always the most kid friendly.
They’ll understand it enough tho.
The detailed pictures do add to the story marvelously.
Definitely recommend this book, especially kids who love superhero’s so they can get an idea of who & how the worlds & characters they adore came to be.
This book was made available to me on NetGalley to read & review.

It is a brief biography of a legendary artist who gave this generations a gift of Marvels, Stanley Martin Lieber aka Stan Lee. This is in form of a comic and illustrated well while telling world in brief about his life in making.
I have read Maria earlier also, so felt connected with her writing pattern.

It is good to know how a simple boy with the hobby of reading books & from writing news story in local newspaper become so famous among 2 generations in continuity. I didn't know that Captain America was not his character. Creating superheroes among common man to made them realise that it could be possible, was his biggest achievement, as all of his characters are ground to earth initially and very common in society to even notice. His wife suggested to do so and he made a regular wandered a world savior in present modern era for children of western world. His journey took wings when he met Jack Kirby. And then, 'The Fantastic Four', 'Spiderman' (my most favorite), 'Hulk', 'Thor' and many more and not to forget everyone's favorite 'Ironman'.
After comics, his writing got screenplays and there was Marvels Entertainment. But fewer people knew initially that he played cameo in every movie based on his comics.

This is an inspirational illustrated book for children to learn from someone who out of regularity made himself world famous. To learn for how a creativity & self-belief is enough to give one superpowers.

Stan Lee is a new biography for young readers in the Little People, Big Dreams series. These are all delightful and exuberant little books which cover the lives of famous cultural, science, arts, and innovative icons while maintaining an age-appropriate level of detail. Due out 2nd July 2024 from Quarto on their Frances Lincoln imprint, it'll be 32 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

A powerhouse of creativity, inclusiveness, enthusiasm, and flourishing despite all odds, Stan Lee went from being a scrappy son of Jewish immigrants in NYC to creating or co-creating an amazing stable of superheros and turbo charging the silver age/renaissance of superhero comics in the 60s to the blockbuster franchises for Marvel down to the current day. Nearly everyone loves comics and he was an absolute titan of the genre.

Written by Isabel Sánchez Vegara it's easy to read with clear accessible language. The energetic and colorful illustrations are well done. The art by Ana Albero is appealing and colorful and supports the text very well. The art is rich in small subtle details which invite readers to take a closer look.

Well written and appealing, all of these little books are worthwhile and enchanting. This one is a worthy addition.

Five stars. This would make a superlative reading circle book, classroom library book, or gift. Stan Lee was an intelligent and beloved figure and has become an icon for a more hopeful and cooperative future, encouraging reading and literacy, honor and doing what's right, and this little book is a nice introduction to his life and work for the youngest generation. As always, there's a short timeline in the very back of the book with some suggestions for further reading.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

Little Stanley Martin Lieber grew up in New York City. As a child, he loved reading books, poems and newspaper strips. And when he didn't have his head in a book, he was writing stories of his own. HIs dream was to write a great book, like the ones he read. His first success was when he competed in a contest at the local newspaper and placed in the top ten. His first big bread came when he got a job at a small comic book publisher, filling ink wells. He then became a text filler writing for the Captain America comics. At that time he began using the pen name, Stan Lee. Although his career was interrupted by WW2, he continued to create characters and write for them while in his bunk at night. When he returned home after the war, and with the help and encouragement of his wife, he began to create his own superhero comics and The Fantastic Four was born. Working with artist, Jack Kirby they created Spiderman, the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and more. He also encouraged fans to become part of a larger community. Using his foundation he encourages and teaches kids the skills of reading, writing and drawing. Stan Lee's stories shows us that you don't need superpowers to be a hero, but creativity, passion and belief in ourselves that makes everyone extraordinary. Check out the timeline and facts at the back of the book as well as other books recommended to learn more about Stan Lee. The illustrations by Ana Albero give this book a look perfect for the man being highlighted. Although I had heard of Stan Lee and knew he was involved in creating comic books, I had no idea that the characters I am familiar with came from his creative mind. I definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys learning about famous artistic people or to motivate that young writer or artist in your life.

This is one of the books in the Little People, Big Dreams series which I've seen absolutely everywhere, but only just started working my way through! (I know ....where have I been!?)

I'm loving reading these books as picking people I only know a little or nothing about means I learn new things....
However, I could not resist this particular one - I absolutely adore Stan Lee!

I can't say that I knew too much about him - but I (and the family) are obsessed with all things Marvel and it was brilliant to read this one out loud to my youngest.

We loved that Stan started out as an inkwell filler in his first job - just look how far he came!

My son was a little sad that his name isn't Stan Lee really - but I feel that it's so close to his real name that it was ok.

Apart from loving Marvel and Stan, I also have a passion for reading, so it was great to see how he grew up constantly with his nose in a book! And funny that he would read the food labels if he had no book around - I'm sure many of us can relate to this!

This was a super quick read - full of information - but told in a way that was interesting and fun.
The illustrations were great too, with lots of detail to look at and prompt discussion with younger readers.

This series is actually amazing and I really must add more to my tbr - there are over 100 books in the series already and, like this one, many more still being added.

Great for school libraries, classroom learning, home education shelves and for any of us adults who just love reading!

Stan Lee by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara explores the life of this vibrant personality. Oh, but I grok young Stanley's reading packaging labels if nothing else were available. I recall, as a child, reading cereal boxes or other packaging at breakfast or lunch. Either because I didn't have a book, or (more often) my book had been taken away as ‘punishment’. This love of reading would lead Stanley to a writing career and a pen name of Stan Lee. Not as creative as it could've been, but hey. He even continued writing during World War II, sending stories back home to his publisher. Stan Lee opened the door to new worlds for people to explore. I love that he always had cameo appearances in the Marvel movies!

The entire Little People, Big Dreams series is an awesome introduction to biographical reading for young audiences. Not only that, but they focus on the most inspirational of people from science, entertainment, sports, politics and more. It’s also a very diverse series.

At the end is a section with more detailed information on Stan Lee's life, suitable for older readers. Inspirational and educational both, this entire series is great, and full of delightful art to engage younger audiences!

Well, seeing as you don't always get artists in this series that are exactly appropriate for this young age range (as I proved when showing what might happen if youthful explorers were allowed to google Beyonce lyrics – https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... is proof), it certainly makes sense for Stan Lee to be here. Alright, primary school kids ought not perhaps to have seen all of the MCU, but the comic worlds he invented are certainly a bit more suitable than some. And the way this swiftly and briefly shows his life fits in perfectly with the ethos of the franchise, conveying the fact he was a simple, humdrum son of immigrants who changed the world by imagination, hard work and making superheroes that were a bit more human than some you could mention. It's a progression here from being a humble reader, to a kid trying out his craft on a local newspaper writing competition, keeping at it and at it all through his military service, and ending up in control of millions of thoughts, words and comic book panels. Here the art doesn't exactly copy anything from his teams but it's not a million miles away, so this will certainly appeal to young comic fans and more. A healthy four stars.

I really like this short Stan Lee bio comic. It is the perfect length for anyone who wants to learn more about Stan The Man Lee.

Stan Lee the comic book is a short awesome graphic novel biography about Stan Lee. We get to see where he grew up and how he started writing comics and then eventually become the head of Marvel Comics. We also see how he becomes the face of Marvel comics and a larger than life personality.

Stan Lee is a great comic to read as a jumping off point to learn more about Stan Lee and the history of the comic book industry. I’d love to see more comics like this one about more comic book creators from the history of comics.

I really enjoyed reading Stan Lee. I hope more graphic novels about comic book creators are published. I love the format as a way to learn about the history of comics and the creators behind your favorite super heroes.

You never know if a comic book like this one can inspire a child to create their own comics and do something special like Stan Lee.

Thank you so much Quarto Kids/ Francis Lincoln and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

This was amazing, I didn’t know about how Stan Lee started and it was really fascinating to learn exactly how he started his career, his dreams. I love that he’d always had this dream within him to write but he never realised how important what he was going to write would be.

He created so many characters, worlds and superhero’s that have meant so much to so many people, it gave people a comforting place to be. To see these regular people he created become superhuman and save the day. His work has been and always will be inspiring and comforting for many.

I really enjoyed getting to learn more about him through this book, young children would enjoy reading about him, what he does many children dream of doing, so to see how he managed to do it, where he started will help inspire them to continue making their own pieces of work, writing, comics.

I think Stan Lee is an interesting addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series of biographies for kids. I bet there are a lot of kids who don't necessarily know who he is - but the definitely would recognize the characters and world that he created. This is a great way to introduce those kids to the creator of their favorite superheroes and to demonstrate the importance of creativity and perseverance toward a particular goal. This story was a well crafted narrative that highlighted important lessons from Stan Lee's journey throughout his life and career.

The illustrations are unique and colorful. They serve to enhance the story and support what is written on each page. I really enjoyed this story and it definitely makes a good addition to the collection. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC to read and review!

Stan Lee is one of the many picture book biographies I have read in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series. Written with kids in mind by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, encouraging them to dream, she makes the point again and again that most of the famous people you read and hear about started in humble circumstances--just kids! She wants kids to dream big.

So, you know, this is about Stan Lee, one of the comics greats of all time. Like so many of the bios, they would not be known or cared about by little kids--Dylan, Dickens, Einstein, are mostly adult interests, so they know who will be buying these books, but as a comics guy I do like the story of Stanley Lieber who became Stan Lee, and kids would know some of the MU films. Thank you to NetGalley, Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and the author for the ARC!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I just discovered the Little People, Big Dreams book series and find them a great way to introduce non-fiction to the younger set. I wish this series had been around when my kids were little, as well-written early reader books about real people are hard to come by.

The story of Stan Lee reads like a comic book, so this illustrated early reader biography hits the right notes. I like that this book gets to the major points in Lee's very extraordinary life and impact on not only comic books, but popular culture as a whole, and that a more in-depth biographical timeline is included at the end.

Enjoyable read that covers one of my favorite childhood creators.
This new title in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series focuses on a much beloved comic writer, Stanley Lieber aka Stan Lee. The art is very interesting and engaging, with the background characters making funny faces as pages go on. The coloring is bold and energetic and I think this one matches the cover very well!
My only criticism could be the one dimensional narration of the book and how they don't include his stories/the original art of his comics at all, making the book a little flat.
Overall it's short, sweet and fun to read!

Much thanks to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing, and Maria Isabel Sanchez Vergara for the ARC! (less)

It's wonderful to see an effort to teach kids likely too young to care, who Stan Lee was. It's an admirable effort, and the information is fairly accurate, if sparse.

Unfortunately I doubt this is doing enough to stand out aesthetically for much of anyone to pick up on notice. The art is unremarkable and average, even for children's book. It's not likely to catch the eye, and probably not going to keep a young child's attention even for it's short pages count.

At a distance, you wouldn't think "STAN LEE". The title is tiny, and he's missing his trademark 'stache. It's more like than not to go unnoticed in discount bins. The heart is in the right place, but the production isn't.

I enjoyed this book and I thought that it was another great addition to this fabulous series that just keeps getting better and better with each new addition.

This book features Stan Lee and it gives a very brief overview of his life for kids - and quite a lot of them will know his creations I am sure!

A great book for kids and one of my favourite series for little ones, I loved the illustrations for this one, it really brought his story to life.

It is 4.5 stars from me for this one, rounded up to 5 stars for Amazon and Goodreads - another great addition to the series, fabulous images and easy to follow – highly recommended!

In another installment of Little People, Big Dreams, readers learn about the iconic Stan Lee. The book takes you through his time as a young adult when the writing bug was first discovered. Then, we travel through his beginnings in the publishing world and how he established himself as a writer. I enjoyed learning about his start and how it influenced all of the superhero stories I have come to love. There were a few times when it jumped in the story, and I felt I had to go back and see if I skipped a page. That’s the reason for only four stars.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Always love books by this author, who made efforts of highlighting the ordinary life of a person. Just like Stan Lee, who wrote about ordinary people with their superpowers. A normal kid who enjoyed reading and treating all jobs, even mundane ones, as extraordinary. The result: a lot of people know him by his works and his involvement in the making of the said books' movies.

This was such a cute biography of Stan Lee for the kiddos. I loved the art style and the emphasis on how 1 kid could grow up to have such an impact on the world. My favorite part was that real photos & facts were included at the end of the book so kids can connect what they read with what actually happened.

Part of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series, this book focuses on Stan Lee, a famous writer in the comic book genre. I knew the name, but didn't know much about his background. This brief biography gives all the highlights of how he turned his dream into reality. An inspirational journey. On the downside, I wasn't super enthusiastic about the illustrations, I found them a bit too raw and unrefined. But otherwise, it's nice and entertaining.
