This is technically a juvenile book which is basically anyone under the age of a teenager. But I'm a Star Wars fan and I was excited to potentially learn things I hadn't know.
But as I read the book I got sadder and sadder. I saw the original Star Wars with my parents when I was a kid at was once the largest indoor mall in the US (the world?) but now has been torn down and replaced by an Amazon warehouse. My world was the first three movies. Until the next three came out which I didn't like at all. Kind of tainted my like of all things Star Wars. Then the last three came out and I was happy to see Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa again (General or Princess? can't remember). Overall I didn't care for the movies again because I didn't like any of the new characters, I just liked the originals and that alone was enough to make me have an interest and even someday watch them again. But they were a disappointment.
As I'm reading this book I'm realizing that the Star Wars world that I knew for so long and loved was only a small part of the Star Wars universe that had evolved. And that I didn't know or care about the rest (except for some of the stuff involving the original characters. Don't even recall the movies names.) I'd forgotten about the tv series about The Mandolorian, and the movies like Rogue One, Han Solo and I think there is at least one other. Plus there is the animated series called Clone Wars. I never was interested in any of these though I do think baby Yoda is adorable except when he eats frogs. Gross. The cuteness loses most of it's appeal then.
What I thought of as Star Wars that I loved was just a small part. Most of the new additions to the Star Wars universe I had no interest in and what bit of trivia I would have been interested in the book was stuff as of fan of almost 50 years I already knew. I felt deflated and a little depressed.
I would say that if you are like me and can relate to what I'm saying, this is not the book you're looking for, you can move along now. ;-)
If you like more of the Star Wars universe than I do, the more you like the more this is a book you should own. It's not just for kids.
A collection of random facts, behind the scenes tidbits, and out miscellanea about the Star Wars movies, shows, and theme parks.
I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but thanks to The Mandalorian, I have been watching a few more Star Wars series lately. (But I've only seen 4 of the movies, and all of those were decades ago.) But even as a mediocre Star Wars fan at best, I did find this a very interesting read. I like random facts and behind the scenes info, and this book is loaded with those. So hand it to a true Star Wars fan or just a random fact collector, and they should enjoy it.
Notes on content: Language: None Sexual content: None Violence: Stage battles are mentioned Ethnic diversity: Star Wars characters come from a variety of ethnic human backgrounds and many alien species. LGBTQ+ content: None specified Other: For those who might be wondering, there's absolutely nothing about spiritual/religious nods in the philosophy and "powers" in the movies.
I mean, yeah, here are 300 facts about Star Wars. Do you need them? You already know if you do or not.
Star Wars blew my mind right from the start (that Star Destroyer going overhead forever and ever) in 1977 when I first saw it in a theater at 8 years old (because how could it not?).
If you have a similar story, you already know a lot of this trivia, and the stuff you don't know is even more trivial than most trivia (probably because it's a "fact" from a video game).
As is the case with any trivia book, you don't need it, and there's not much to do with this information, but it's a nice trip down memory lane to read through it and look at nifty Star Wars pictures and drawings.
Did you need to know Jar Jar was originally going to be green? Is that information useful now that you know it? Nah. But it's fun to think of him looking a lot more like Kermit the Frog, right?
A must read for Star Wars fans young and old this is another fun entry into National Geographic Kids' "Weird but True" series. The style of these books also appeal to reluctant readers as well since they are chocked full of pictures and bite-sized facts.
What a fun collection of random Star Wars trivia. Some of them were actually super funny, like the one about Tarkin’s actor wearing slippers because he couldn’t stand to wear the boots. That made me lol.
Cute book, with some interesting and funny facts 😂 As a Star Wars nerd, I had to check this out when I saw it at my library lol Would make a nice gift for a kid who loves Star Wars ❤🌟
This was a fun read to share with my son! While we knew a lot of these facts, there were still plenty in here for us to be "oh wow, I never knew that!".
