It plays with a few different taboo tropes with the age gap, best friend’s parent, and office romance, but I didn’t feel like they fully integrated with one another. I also found the flow to be rather choppy and the story jumped around a bit. Things happened with little to no context and I’m still kind of confused how we got from point A to point D. However, I’m curious enough about the author’s work to want to see what can be accomplished with a longer book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Exceeding Her Goals - Even though Ember had been lusting after her best friend’s daddy for a while, her priority was to commence her medical career at the hospital where he worked. However, the moment Ember started her job, their previous arms length relationship changed, as they embarked on a secret relationship. Fortunately, they soon had to reveal their secret after Ember found out she was pregnant, but luckily the response to their news was positive.
This was an okay read, but I felt like the story didn’t flow effortlessly and like there was something missing. I will still be happy to recommend it.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Not sweet or clean. Ember manipulates Laura, her best friend, into asking Laura's dad to get Ember a position at the hospital where he works. Mainly because Ember wanta to be close to Laura's dad, who is a Dr there. Besides calling him Dr Taylor throughout the book, the story doesn't seem well put together in other ways either Sometimes it appears that the names of the persons speaking were swapped - making it a confusing read. Other facts haven't been cleaned up e.g. she studied biology and became a medical doctor. DNF
Ember is Laura's BFF. Ember has become an intern doctor and wishes to only work with Laura's dad, Dr. Taylor at the same hospital. She has been in love with him for a long time. She is placed with a different doctor but gets to see Dr. Taylor a lot. She is placed with a different doctor but gets to see Dr. Taylor a lot. Somewhere in the middle I got confused---are they dating? she's pregnant? how did they get a HEA? Book needs rewriting and better editing. Book sent via Bookfunnel...I am leaving an honest review.
This is a new author to me. The book was well written and had wonderful characters in the book. Once you start to read the book you just didn't want to stop reading it. When reading the book it felt like you were right there in the storyline. To learn more about this wonderful author please check out her Newsletter. I definitely would recommend this book to everyone. Can't wait to read more books from this author.
Ugh. I so wanted to enjoy this but let's be honest it was stupid. No way would a hospital be run like that. No way 2 doctors would have allowed Ember to get pregnant that fast. Oh, I could go on and on.
Ember is a new doctor and has feelings for her best friends dad. He's one of the senior doctors at the hospital Ember works at. It's technically a mostly clean book as everything that occurs is mentioned briefly after the fact however there's a lot of unethical and morally questionable actions that no one had a problem with that made it difficult for me to enjoy. There are a couple of mild curse words. I received a free copy via Bookfunnel. Review voluntarily given.
