Baker's Rise Mysteries #10

A Stitch In Key Lime: A humorous English village cozy mystery

Rate this book
Join Flora, Reggie and the residents of Baker's Rise in this tenth instalment of the popular series, where it's a case of knitting needles at dawn in the biggest crafting competition the village has seen!

Excitement abounds amongst the ladies of Baker's Rise as a TV crew arrive to film an episode of the popular "Yarn Wars" show. The usually tight-knit bunch are quickly at odds, however, in their quest to be crowned the contest queen and life on set is far from being a ball.

Unfortunately, it's a case of knit one, purl one, kill one as somebody doesn't seem to be following the proper pattern. Certainly, the discovery of a dead body is enough for more than one contestant to drop a stitch and for the whole production to unravel.

Will Flora be able to thread the loose ends together before one of the villagers is stitched up for a crime they didn't commit?

Packed with twists and turns, and enough purls of wisdom to keep you hooked, this new mystery will certainly leave you hungry for more!

Note From the Since the same quirky cast of characters appear in each book, the stories in this series are best read in order!

R. A. Hutchins is a British author of both cosy murder mysteries and even cosier romance. What her books all share in common, though, is a strong sense of place and strength of community as well as an endearing cast of characters.
In Rachel's contemporary romance, you can normally find themes of hope and new beginnings, loss and mental health, though her characters are always guaranteed their happily ever after and her stories have more than a splash of heady romance!
Rachel's favourite hobbies are reading, walking along the beach with her family, visiting new places, and seeing her flowers grow in the spring and summer months. Rachel particularly enjoys going out for coffee and cake when it also involves catching up with good friends. Now living in northeast England, Rachel has fond memories of the nine years she spent in Scotland.

Bittersweet

A Stitch in Key Lime (Baker’s Rise Mysteries book 10) by R. A. Hutchins

Knowing that this was the last book in the series meant this was a bittersweet read. I’ve loved my time in Baker Rise and I’m sad to leave. Flora, Adam, Reggie and the residents feel like old friends.

These books are the epitome of cosiness (despite the murders!). With the idyllic setting and tight-knit community, they’ll have you feeling as though you’re standing alongside the characters.

This book’s mystery kept me on my toes guessing who did it and how it would unravel.

I also really enjoyed how the author brought up mental health in men.

There are so many things to enjoy about this series and I’m sad to be leaving it behind - although I am looking forward to joining Niomi and Reggie in the future!

The last in this delightful cosy mystery series is set in Bakers Rise. Flora, Adam, their Foster daughter Naomi and Reggie, the parrot, are now in their new home at The Rise. Flora's life, for the past couple of years since she moved there, has been dogged by murders in the village. She's hoping things will change!

With the popular show, Yarm Wars, coming to the village, something as innocuous about knitting and crochet can't bring with it murder, surely? However, when someone close to the show is found dead, Flora and Adam are once more thrown into things.

Each book is a standalone mystery, but the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.

I have really enjoyed this series and am sorry to see it end, but the author teases a new series with Naiomi and Reggie, the parrot ascenttal characters.

Oh, the perfect ending!

Except I didn't want the series to end! (Although, realistically how many murders could happen in one village?)

The arrival of Yarn Wars creates tension and competition between villagers and when the murder occurs, I worried that worse would happen. Fortunately, despite some embarrassment and rather hilarious moments - including one of my favorite Reggie scenes - the villagers pull together every time.
Flora and Adam create the family they've both longed for with Naomi, with a few tense bits every parent will get. (I do wish I could find my version of Adam.)
A perfectly lovely series that I inhaled at the rate of a book a day.
Now, on to the Daisy series.
