This book had me nodding, chuckling, pausing to reflect, and whispering “God, abeg o” more times than I expected. 😩🤲 Obanosa is a believer who has decided it’s time to marry, to finally meet his God-ordained “daughter of Zion”. Simple plan, right? Except life (and God 👀) has other ideas. Because the woman he’s led to is not quite the picture-perfect “Jesus Girl” he imagined. So now the dilemma is:👉🏽 Do you follow God’s leading or your carefully curated expectations?
I really enjoyed how Oyindamola Oyebade tackled the subtle tension between faith and desires, between what we say we want spiritually and what our hearts actually cling to. I liked how human the characters felt, flawed, sincere, trying, sometimes confused. 🥹 The only reason thing I wish was done better was the dialogue. Some conversations felt a little stilted, borderline funnily awkward in a way that made me think, oh well, maybe the characters are just not good conversationalists. 😅 The book is definitely thought-provoking, relatable, and very relevant for young Christians navigating love, marriage, and “divine leading”. If you enjoy Christian romance with introspection, faith conversations, and stories that gently challenge how we define a “Jesus girl” or “kingdom spouse,” this one is for you. 🫶✨
