Principles of Auditing & Other Assurance Services [with ACL Software CD]

Rate this book
Whittington/Pany is our market leader in the auditing discipline. While most textbooks use a cycles approach, Whittington/Pany enlists a balance sheet approach - making it particularly straightforward and user-friendly. The 19th Edition of Principles of Auditing & Other Assurance Services provides a carefully balanced presentation of auditing theory and practice. Written in a clear and understandable manner, it is particularly appropriate for students who have had limited or no audit experience. The approach is to integrate auditing material with that of previous accounting financial, managerial, and systems courses.

This textbook should be titled "How to beat a dead horse". If you have trouble reading technical writing, don't worry because the author will keep repeating himself with slightly rephrased sentences. Eventually he will beat his points into you, if you don't give up first. This textbook could have been cut down by half and been just as effective but NOOooooOOooOOooo! Mr. Bigshot Academic had to create complex, run-on sentences to impress his colleagues. McGraw-Hill needs to dump this guy ASAP.

I have been teaching this textbook for many years, since the first publication. I found this textbook the most teaching and learning orientated. My students thoroughly comprehended the diversity of topics included in this book, and they found the supplementary materials interesting and enhancing their learning particularly in professional perspectives.

YES! I am FINALLY finished with this super boring textbook!! Why did I then give it three stars? 1 star for boringness, 5 stars for being the best resource to for my class averages out to 3 stars. While very informative and will likely be my resource for studying (eventually) for the CPA exam, it will permanently cure your insomnia!!!

It was a good textbook used by my auditing class. We mostly went over the homework questions, but the text is too dense.
