I was a little torn about how to rate this one. I picked it at random, so didn't realize that it was part of a series. This only matters because the primary mystery isn't solved in this book, there are only clues and leads given. That's something that bothers me a bit, but it's my own fault. I really liked the characters and I thought the writing was good, but I found the lawful-good character traits of the hero kind of annoying. And inconsistent. I mean, he's flexible enough to take the rap for killing an abusive asshole and to figure things out for his drug addicted foster brother but he's still supposedly rigid and into absolutes? I just don't get that. I mean, it could have been the heroine misunderstanding his character, but...I dunno.
