Rowling conceived the idea of Harry Potter during a train ride, until the 1997 UK publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone , The Making of the Potterverse tells the history of one of today’s most beloved sagas—in print, on screen, and in real life as waves of Pottermania swept fans young and old.

Covering the phenomenon through the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix , this book covers all of the major and minor news events centering on the world of Harry Potter, interweaving quotes from the films’ cast and crew members—among them Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint; directors Chris Columbus ( The Sorcerer’s Stone , The Chamber of Secrets ), Alfonso Cuarón ( The Prisoner of Azkaban ), and Mike Newell ( The Goblet of Fire ); producer David Heyman, and behind-the-scenes personnel who bring the magic to life.

Chronology in report form

Do you want to know the basic facts about the growth of the Harry Potter phenomenon? If you want just the basics without delving below the surface, this book will work for you. There are minimal attributions and virtually no exploration of the underlying forces which led to the success of the Harry Potter franchise. For what it is, this book works. You might find it quite shallow, however, if you are looking for a deeper exploration of the novel as a multigenerational social phenomenon.

I received this book from a friend of mine who knows how much I love JK Rowling and her famous literary "offspring", Harry Potter. I zipped through this interesting little book quickly and its a nice addition to any Potterphile's collection.

The book charts the history of Rowling's creation from its earliest beginnings by using articles and interviews with the author and stars of the celebrated movies. The articles/interviews are an insight into the popular series from its meek beginning, its burgeoning popularity to its overwhelming appeal and worldwide adoration. There are lots of little tidbits and trivia that will appeal to fans of Harry Potter fans, young and old.

A recommended quick read for fans who love the magical world of JK Rowling.

very interesting and detailed insight into the first ten years of the world post-potter! it was fascinating to see how early on rowling was facing controversy with book bannings and accusations of promoting satanism. also great to see some transcripts of the cast and crew at press conferences that i hadn't read before which were great to read! overall a nice quick book to help me replenish my potter cravings :)

Simple in its contents: The book just gives bits of info about how Harry Potter overcame the literary and filmographic worlds, over the course of a few years. But nonetheless, a great read for Harry Potter fans.

Chronological information/month by month on Harry Potter from 1997-2007 - not as interesting as Harry, A History

Gold book with some useful informations. Nothing really new though, and too many pages of interviews transcripts in my opinion.
