A brief but helpful book that has some good things to say about verbal, nonverbal, physical, emotional, and spiritual intimacy in marriage, framed within the context of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
The book is co-authored by a husband and wife and the husband is a marriage and family therapist. This book is appropriate and useful reading for a single or engaged person preparing for marriage, or for married couples. It addresses the subject of sexual intimacy in marriage with clarity but also with the reverence and respect due such a sacred topic. Among other things, the authors describe in clear terms the stages of the human sexual response cycle, including the differences in the male and female experience, but also avoid the kind of explicit or graphic sexual descriptions and imagery that are common in many other books about sexuality in marriage.
I would recommend this book to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are trying to prepare for marriage or improve their marriage. I would also recommend that that audience read Purity and Passion: Spiritual Truths about Intimacy That Will Strengthen Your Marriage by Wendy Watson, One Flesh, One Heart: Putting Celestial Love into Your Temple Marriage by Carlfred Broderick, and Love is a Choice: Making Your Marriage and Family Stronger by Lynn G. Robbins.
