And the shifter yearning for love but too afraid to trust in fate.
SYL
My control is shot, almost at breaking point. I want to kiss, to touch, to bite. But that’s not a future I get to have. So I close my eyes, and feel. Soft words and eager hands. My silver-haired fae with his dirty mouth, and my hot as sin witch with storm-grey eyes. I want to soak up every second of it, hoard those memories for when it all ends. Because I don’t do casual. I’ve wanted a mate for as long as I can remember, spent my days hoping for fate to send me the one person meant for me. But she didn’t. She sent me two. Neither ready for the lifetime commitment I’m offering. Losing one mate would break my heart. Losing both will shatter my soul beyond repair.
Moonlight Magic is an MMM paranormal romance with a little angst, a little hurt/comfort, and all the pining and UST. Expect: magic, suspense, loads of shifter possessive feels, and a swoony HEA.
This story is set in the popular Dark Forest Pack world, but no prior knowledge is necessary to enjoy this standalone full length novel.
Annabelle Jacobs lives in the South West of England with her three rowdy children, and two cats.
An avid reader of fantasy herself for many years, Annabelle now spends her days writing her own stories. They're usually either fantasy or paranormal fiction, because she loves building worlds filled with magical creatures, and creating stories full of action and adventure. Her characters may have a tough time of it—fighting enemies and adversity—but they always find love in the end.
She has such a talent for writing shifters that let you see that the animal inside isn't something separate but instead is an intrinsic part of them.
The wolf isn't its own thing, it's the instinctive, wild, and emotionally driven inner part that makes them a shifter.
And poor Syl's wolf is telling him something the more logical part is finding difficult to come to terms with, because shifters only ever bond with one person, right?!
While the paranormal police continue their investigations into the illegal magic that made up a lot of the plotline in the associated Dark Forest Pack series, there's the incredibly strong romance happening here with Syl, police witch Wyn and the Fae Guard Chylath who's been told in no uncertain terms, not to fall in love this side of the Fae Gate!
Whoops 🤣
I absolutely adored this book. The relationship development between all three of them is beautiful and filled with deep longing, UST off the charts, and so much pining while trying to do the right thing that it zings off the page.
The suspense element works well, without completely taking the book over, there's twists and turns and some clever use of the growing bond between them to help when things hit a very dangerous stage.
I'm thinking this is possibly the last visit in this series to the world of the Dark Forest Pack, which is a real shame, as it's been utterly fantastic and such a brilliantly developed one.
But, I'm still holding out hope for a redemption arc journey for Zane, former owner of Midnight, and the witch blackmailed into helping the bad guys of book one.
Please Annabelle, give Zane his happy ever after too!
#ARC kindly received from the author, I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Bond. Soul bond. It's two pieces, right? If I close my eyes, I can see the silhouette of a heart; when split, it's two halves. But is that the only way? Not if Jacobs has a say. Soul bonds are special and thrive when cherished. Shifter bonds are powerful and all-consuming. Syl has simple dreams. He wants a mate and would be over the moon to be so lucky to find a soul-bonded mate. When he discovers fate not only granted him one soul-bonded mate but TWO you'd think he would be twice as happy. The problem is, his potential mates aren't as keen as he is. Syl thought it was bad to long for a mate, but to see a future with two soulbonds and not have them? He would have been better off not knowing. Or would he? Turns out his simple dreams are anything but.
After a couple of bad books I needed a good one, and I knew one by Annabelle was going to be a sure thing. It was a delight. A wonderful combination of adventure, intrigue and sweet romance that is easy to get into and easy to get carried by. And Wyn, Syl and Chiyad make a very sweet triad. I am surprised it's not listed as part of the dark forest pack series, as it takes place after the events of the last book in it with characters from it. I don't personally think it stands alone outside of the series. I have read them all before so I was able to enjoy it fully but I doubt a reader who hadn't would be able to
Yummy! Angsty, emotional, and so spicy 🔥. Not going to lie: I ate this story up. This is another great fated mate(s) book By Annabelle Jacob's. I absolute recommend.
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
It took me a while to re-immerse myself in the world of the Dark Forest Pack, but once I got my bearings I was captivated by the high-stakes adventure these characters took me on. Wyn and Chylath were police partners investigating the illegal doings of a group of witches, and what started out as a simple quest spiraled into something much larger and more sinister than either of them could have imagined. It was fascinating to follow along as they searched for clues, brought in additional resources to help track down their suspects, and strategized late into the night. Syl was one of the extra resources they deemed essential to their case--a top tier tracker with enhanced shifter skills that gave him an edge when hunting for people who didn't want to be found. I could tell that there were sparks between Syl, Wyn, and Chylath from the very beginning, but the three of them were very cautious when it came to exploring what might be between them. For Wyn and Syl, their hesitation came from their desire to have a serious, lasting relationship, while Chylath held back because of the pending end of his contract and return to the fae world that would sever any fledgling relationship he built. Something kept pulling the three of them together, however, and in between their work on the case I watched as they struggled and agonized and came to terms with the idea that fate may have picked not one but two perfect people for them to love. The second half of the book was where both the romance and suspense picked up--the investigation heating up in parallel to Chylath, Wyn, and Syl's physical relationship. I was compelled and captivated by both, and by the time the story reached its peak I was fully convinced of their love for each other and desperate to see them outsmart their enemies. The case got incredibly dicey right at the very end, and all three men proved just how much they were willing to sacrifice to keep each other safe. I felt like I was about to fall out of my chair I was so on edge as I watched it all play out, but thankfully Wyn, Syl, and Chylath defeated the big bads and safely made it to their happy ending.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
We are back in the captivating world of the Dark Forest Pack where Moonlight magic picks up from the events of Loving Jake, the series' finale. While Moonlight magic can be enjoyed on its own, diving into the preceding Dark Forest Pack series enriches the experience, providing a deeper understanding of the intricate web of relationships and dynamics at play.
In this instalment, we follow Wyn, a witch in the Paranormal Police Department, alongside Syl, a wolf shifter from the Dark Forest pack, and Chylath, a Fae guard, as they continue the investigation on illicit trade of magic that was the overarching plot line in the aforementioned series. Despite the instant and undeniable attraction between them, they struggle to understand it. And as they discover the truth behind their connection, they face seemingly insurmountable obstacles alongside their own internal conflicts, adding layers of complexity to their growing bond.
Once again, Annabelle Jacobs expertly blends romance, suspense and action, effortlessly drawing readers into the narrative. The dynamic between Wyn, Syl and Chylath is charged with Jacobs's trademark blend of unresolved sexual tension and deep yearning. Making their journey a delicate balance of navigating obstacles and grappling with their own desires, but luckily leading to intense and all consuming bond.
Returning to familiar faces from the Dark Forest series is a delight, and witnessing the bond forming between Wyn, Syl and Chylath is truly satisfying. As the lines between duty and desire blur, readers are treated to a lovely tale of love, loyalty, and magic.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my unbiased review.
Annabelle Jacobs just took me for a Wild Ride, and I loved every minute of it. I was very skeptical going into Moonlight Magic, and it was mainly due to the way the book begins. It felt like I was missing some very critical information. However, I very happy I continued to read Moonlight Magic. Annabelle states that this book can be read as a standalone, but if you want prior information on the pack I would recommend reading the other books in the ‘Dark Forest Pack’ universe.
Moonlight Magic starts off with a confrontation between two packs, and a paranormal police force. This initially introduces us to the three main characters: Syl- Member of the Dark Forest Pack, Chylath- Fae Guard, and Wyn- Paranormal Police and level 2 Witch. It also begins the initial bonding between the three individuals.
Chylath and Wyn feel the connection between the two of them, but Chylath refuses to do anything about it due to his promised with his Queen. While those two are dealing with their feelings, Wyn is leading an investigation on the selling of dark magic objects. They are having difficulty finding leads so they bring in Syl. Syl is one of the best Trackers in the Dark Forrest Pack. As time goes on, all three of them uncover information and secrets that leave everyone horrified. This is while they are trying to figure out what they want to do with their relationship, and how to make it work. In the end let’s as the bad guys gets what’s coming to them. The boys also get their happy ending as well.
Overall, Annabelle’s work left me wanting to know more about the characters and the universe they live in. I’m giving this book 5 stars, and I cannot wait to read more works by this Author.

When I first started getting back into reading a few years ago, paranormal shifter romances were some of the first stories I started reading. I’ve read so many different types since then but those still hold a special place for me. The Dark Forest Pack series was a random recommendation one day on my kindle and since then, a series I’ve enjoyed book after book.
This spinoff book takes place after Loving Jake, the last book in the Dark Forest Pack series and follows Wyn, Syl and Chylath, characters introduced in this series. The tension and the angst between these three characters was just so well done. The push and pull between what they want versus what the expectations/complications are of a relationship between a wolf shifter, a witch and a fae who is destined to return to fae lands just really came off the pages and I couldn’t wait to see how this all played out.
I enjoyed reading all three characters and how they seemed to mesh together and understand one another but Syl was the one that I absolutely cheering for. The hope for a soul bond with a mate has been such a big part for him, something he’s waited for and considered might not happen. And then it’s there and just a little out of his reach and it’s different from what he thought it would look like.
And then add this angsty goodness on top of the background mystery of a rogue alpha using illegal magic and missing witches. Definitely didn’t want to put this book down until I saw how it ended with a well earned and deserved HEA for all. I also enjoyed catching up with characters from the series. This was certainly a great addition to the original series!
I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was a good addition to the Dark Forest Pack world. This book continues on from the events that happened in Loving Jake, the final book in the series. Wyn is a high level two witch and him and his partner Cara, also a high level two witch are working on the case of finding out who is using/selling illegal magic. Chylath, a fae guard and recently come through the gateway as appointed by the High Fae to help assist with the investigation. He’s been given orders that in no uncertain terms that he can fall in love with someone on the other side of the gateway because after Dathal and Axel did the High Fae won’t allow him to stay as they don’t want to lose another Fae Guard.
It’s obvious from their first meeting that there’s attraction between both Wyn and Chylath and during the alpha standoff Chylath uses too much of his magic to try and calm the tensions so things don’t explode into violence. It becomes too much and he collapses both Wyn and Syl, the best tracker that Rys has in his pack catch him and protect him while he’s incapacitated. There’s a brief moment where the three are connected before it disappears. Syl believes it was wishful thinking because he really wants to find his fated mate but he can’t have two though, right? Chylath knows that nothing can come of the attraction between them so he decides to at least get Syl and Wyn together as they both can’t do casual.
Chylath gets Wyn to ask his boss to see if Syl can become a consultant as it would be good to have a shifter working with them when needed during their investigation, instead of pulling others from their current cases. She agrees and It’s a way for them to work along side Syl, as Chylath also briefly felt their connection. The tension between the three of them is palpable and their chemistry is completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell. The final battle was very intense and touch and go and makes both Chylath and Wyn realise that there are way scarier things than a soul bond, meaning that they’re sealed together forever. I’m looking forward to reading more books from Annabelle Jacobs in the future. I’d recommend this book, the Dark Forest Pack series and author to others.
******I received a complimentary copy of this book through GRR. I would still happily review this book even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******
This is a great addition to the Dark Forest books. I know it says it can be read as a stand-alone but I think you gain so much more if you read the others first. Not only is the story line connected, you understand the secondary characters and the reason for some of the behaviour so much better.
While the story about the illegal magic is coming to an conclusion, this book is primarily a story of three men who feel they can't be together but also can't keep apart. The book is very much UST for a while but it's actually beautifully written. Their head over heart approach is taking time to overcome and you can feel with them and wanting and hoping for a solution.
Especially Sly does battle with the idea how a fated mate can actually mean fates mates. The way he has to learn to adjust his whole thinking about what it means to him as a shifter is a joy to read.
All three have others in their corner, the support is great to read and especially how Rhys (the alpha of the Dark Forest pack) is helping Sly is just beautiful. The differences between a shifter, a fae and a witch are written well, their individual magic is done great.
It's a book I found hard to put aside and while I love the ending, I just want more of the magic of the Dark Forest pack and their people.
This story is set in the Dark Forest Pack universe. It follows the fated mates/instant attraction tropes. A good addition to the series, there's some serious heat in the book between the fae, Chylath, witch Wyn and wolf shifter Syl. There's also a truckload of angst and pining. The fae ruler can't lose another fae to the human realm without losing face in her kingdom and she insists that Chylath doesn't get involved with anyone. Both Wyn and Syl want a relationship, but can't deny their attraction to the fae. I love the dynamics of a triad; how all the pieces fit together. The obliviousness between the characters, the 'I would know my mate upon meeting them... right?', is a standard feature in this trope. As is smirking friends who realize what's going on before the mains. The continuing hunt for illegal magic users helps raise this tale above the ordinary. And I loved the sweet moments of support the three offer each other. Excellent writing and continued worldbuilding. I haven't read the other four books in this universe, this definitely can stand alone. But now my interst is peaked and I'm going to read them from the start. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my review.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Quick note: I have not read the other books set in this world before I reading this book. Although I did enjoy this story without the having read the other books, with so many of the characters from previous books having roles in this story (and references to their stories) I did feel like I was missing some important backstory during reading.
Having 3 main characters can be hard to pull off, especially a triad romance situation, but I thought this worked well in the story. It's told from all 3 POVs, and I liked getting to see all 3 perspectives as the story developed. I liked all three of the characters and they definitely came across as distinctive voices. The romance between Syl, Wyn, and Chylath was a bit of fated mates mixed with slow-burn/UST, that strangely worked (without me getting frustrated with the characters for being idiots).
The police case became almost too much of a background plot in the story. I wasn't really invested in the outcome, there were certainly parts of it that I felt either dragged or missing something (possibly background in a previous story).
Overall, it was a good story and I definitely want to read more of the Dark Forest Pack stories.
Unfortunately this was a little under 3 stars for me. The “action” plot was interesting and intriguing but I didn’t like the romance. It felt like the Chylath and Wyn show sprinkled with Syl. There was progression in the relationship between those two and Syl was mentioned as being missed and missing but that was the extent of it. We are at 74% and they’ve only had a handful or less of interaction with Syl but Chylath and Wyn are roommates and work together so they are literally around each other and building their relationship more. The only thing Syl brings is the soul bond. I felt sorry for Syl because i was told not shown that he was “important” and I don’t feel it. So while I enjoyed the underlying plot, the romance left me scowling. With the way Syl was desperate and excited to meet his fated mates, I feel like he was a secondary character in his own book. It’s honestly quite annoying that Syl will say something and then either Wyn or Chylath will speak for both Wyn and Chylath, so they are all together but there’s a big sense of Syl on the outside. A perfect example of Syl talking to Chylath:
“I love you,” Syl says quietly {…} “We love you too,” I say, and Wyn murmurs his agreement”

Set in the Dark Forest Pack world, Moonlight Magic gives readers a first-hand account of the harrowing events that happen near the conclusion of that series. Don’t worry if you haven’t read it - this story won’t leave you feeling lost. I do think it adds to the overall impact and enjoyment if you have, and I was happy to see how the characters and alpha conflict storyline fit into the big picture.
I’ll start by saying I 100% loved this and couldn’t be happier to be back in this world. Annabelle Jacobs creates a paranormal universe that’s absolute magic with just the right amount of tension, action, conflict, and romance. I love how she brings witches, shifters, and fae together, working to strike a balance in their tumultuous world. But when fate itself threatens that balance, things get that much more interesting.
In this interconnected standalone, Wyn, Syl, and Chylath - a witch, a shifter, and a fae - are brought together by their communities’ combined efforts to investigate a crime. Each has a special gift to lend to the cause, and Jacobs wastes no time layering personal complications with their professional obligations. She begins building their triad through their obvious attraction, and it continues through their forced proximity and shared experiences.
This story is definitely a slow burn, largely due to the circumstances but also because their differences create a measure of uncertainty. They’re drawn together, calmed and comforted by a connection they don’t understand yet can’t ignore. I enjoy this aspect of fated mates - unlike the wham shazam moment some PNR series favor, Jacobs lights a fire and lets it smolder until it slowly consumes them all.
If you love PNR, definitely give this one a try. Annabelle Jacobs is a favorite when I need a paranormal fix; her stories are well-crafted, consistently delivering action, intensity, and sweet, spicy romance every time. I can always count on her worlds as a worthwhile place to lose myself for a while.
*I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book*
Three men come together working on the same case. Syl, a wolf shifter, wants nothing more than to find his fated mate. He wants to bite, kiss, and feel. Wyn, a witch, is not sure what he wants. He knows he feels something, but is not sure he should act. Chylath, a fae, knows he cannot get involved. He is aware his time is limited and he must return to his own realm. They do not want to lose another fae to the human realm. First though they must investigate the manufacture and use of illegal magic.
These three together were fun. They seemed to be the last to know what everyone else already realized. They offered each other support and helped each other get through the trauma coming their way. It was a beautiful from beginning to end as these three men realize what they mean to each other. We did see our friends from prior books and their work and support helped further the search for the illegal magic users. This is one very enjoyable read with lots of action, both in and out of bed, as well as romance at its best. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and this is my unbiased review.
A gripping paranormal poly romance! I loved all three MCs, and their relationship(s) were very well developed. The emotional connection and the chemistry between all three men were absolutely spell-binding. I also like the blend of romance and character growth with the more action-filled scenes and the teamwork involved in sorting out who’s behind the illegal use of magic. Chylath and Wyn don’t feel the “fated mates” pull in the same way as Syl does, being a shifter, which makes sense, but my heart still hurt for Syl. The throuple’s relationship doesn’t feel unbalanced though or anything but strong and loving and amazing once they are all on the same page. And there is definitely “something” drawing all of them together, albeit sometimes subtly, from the very first chapter. The worldbuilding in this series is incredible. I love returning to it with each new story. The many secondary characters are well written, and it’s especially lovely to reconnect with the MCs from the previous stories. And then there’s Zane … Fingers crossed he gets his own story too!
This book's Amazon description indicates it can stand alone. I don't completely agree, because characters and events from previous books are involved in this book. While it 'could' be read by itself (I did), I think I would have enjoyed it more if I has the knowledge from reading all the books. That said, this is still a fun and enjoyable (and sexy) romp. I'm not a big fan of can't-control-ourselves fated mates stories, so I appreciated that the trio of MCs weren't all 'soulmates forever' at first glance. Though there was a strong connection, they had different views on forever love and different internal and external pressures. I love a good, hot threesome, and these guys deliver. Plenty of action, mystery, and suspense, too.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
There is some serious pining going in this one, The angst is strong between these three guys and the tension is a tad intense. Wyn, Chylath ,and Syl have so much insane chemistry from the very beginning that their denial of that bond physically hurt to read about. Yes it has a happy ending but it is a near thing. Syl is all in once he realizes the truth and his willingness to ignore it for the others is noble but I admit that I wanted him to fight for it. Chylath is so defeatist about it all as if their situation is totally hopeless. And Wyn…Anywho this is a fitting end to this series and it’s worth a read.
This is a fun PNR focusing on paranormal law enforcement and a trio of different paranormal drawn to each other.
Moonlight Magic was my first Annabelle Jacobs read and it worked as a standalone, but I now want to go back and read the previous series this is a spin-off from!
In this, you'll find: ✨️MMM PNR ✨️Fated mates ✨️Witch law enforcer ✨️Fae guard visiting this world ✨️Wolf Shifter hoping to find his fated mate ✨️Paranormal law enforcement ✨️Some violence ✨️Drugging of a drink ✨️Kidnapping, inc. of a child ✨️Imprisonment & forced slavery ✨️British setting ✨️A HEA
While the author states you don't need knowledge of the previous books, I respectfully disagree. I feel like there is a lot of information that is presented in previous stories that is relevant to this book, these characters, and the overall plot. Just my opinion, but I highly encourage you to read the previous stories. They're quite good.
As far as this particular story, I truly enjoyed the characters, although I don't feel like we got to know Syl as well as Wyn and Chylath. I felt like his character was almost a side-note at times, and that made me sad. The plot development was extremely well-written, and kept my interest peaked. I was so very happy for all 3 in the end. A truly enjoyable entry in this series.
So, if you haven't read any of the other books in this series, I wouldn't worry about it - I hadn't, and though that meant a tiny bit of confusion at the beginning (just trying to catch up with all those names!), it otherwise is absolutely fine.
Otherwise, this book has really made me want to jump in and start the series from the beginning. I love the pack/witch/fae dynamics in this, as well as the throuple at its centre. They're all ready to fight for each other right from the get-go, even if they don't know why, and though Syl is probably my fave, I love all of them.
(And Axel, too - he seems fun!)
Special shoutout to this being set in the East Midlands! Yay!!!
"Ignorance is bliss, after all." ...................true, up to a point !!!
I enjoyed this book very much - low angst and packed with feelings....which each of them tried to ignore !! Go figure !! hehehehehe Loved the characters and found family - and you could read this one as standalone (if you don't mind knowing who gets paired up with whom) ..... there is an ongoing storyline but it kinda makes sense in this story. And it's not hi-level steam .....very slow burn..... I can honestly say the author has taken edging the reader to a new level !!! Great story with plenty of feelings and suspense.
I had a hard time putting this book down! Wyn, Syl, and Chylath were very different from each other but they fit. It is instant attraction with a fated bond, but I liked that they considered the barriers to being together and their own feelings before acting on their attraction - so much UST!! While the focus was on the relationship, almost as much time is spent on figuring out the police case.
You do not need to read the Dark Forest Pack to enjoy this but I’m definitely going to go and read those soon.
Wyn, Syl and Chylath are each interesting, likable characters and together they have a connection that manages to pack plenty of sweetness and chemistry and longing into pretty much every interaction. There’s a solidly intriguing plot as well, which I won’t spoil for you here, and overall, this is an enjoyable addition to the Dark Forest Pack world (technically not part of the series, I don’t think, and definitely capable of standing on its own, but a familiar landscape for readers of those books).
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Moonlight Magic by Annabelle Jacobs is a wonderful combination of adventure, intrigue and romance that is an easy read to get lost in. This is a great addition to the Dark Forest books but can be read alone. This book is primarily a story of three men who feel they can't be together but also can't stay away from each other. It is instant attraction with a fated bond. Wyn, Syl, and Chylath - a witch, a shifter, and a fae - are brought together by their communities’ combined efforts to investigate a crime. This was a really great story.
I'm not a big fan of Wolf Shifter romance but this book looked promising. I enjoyed this one as much as I could. But it was a somewhat slow burn, and I had to skip through some scenes and chapters. after 60% of the book, the story finally started to feel interesting and by the end I quite liked it. Syl, Wyn, and Chytlth were good together their connection was palpable. But I don't think there is going to be a re-read in the future.
#ARC was provided by GRR and this is my honest review.
The main characters in this MMM paranormal romance are Syl, a wolf shifter, Wyn, a witch, and Chylath, a fae. They work together dealing with the illegal use of magic and missing witches. During this time, their emotional and physical attraction to each other continues swirling them closer and closer together. The characters, world building and story development are wonderful. Syl, Wyn, and Chylath's HEA is hard won and spicy sweet. This is another well-written Annabelle Jacobs romantic adventure story.
This book is set in Annabelle Jacobs Dark Forest Pack world and can be enjoyed as either a standalone or as further reading that has some of the characters from the previous books in. I have read some of the other books but it’s been a while and I didn’t remember much about them and I was easily able to follow the story. I love triad books but the relationship can be hard for a writer to balance but this one is terrific and includes a lot of suspense on a number of different levels.
I adore fated mates and almost wish it was a real thing. I loved these three men and how they came together on their own before knowing about being fated. I love poly stories and I enjoyed seeing three different species come together and how they bonded. This was a really great story.
This is a spin-off from another series but for the most part I understood what was going on without having read the first series myself.
