This is a very good book. Normally I would be skeptical about a book like this but when I read the blurb I knew it was going to be a fantastic adventure. It reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender where people can control the elements to help them live a better life. I'm also a huge fan of the X-Men comics about mutants who have poems that can help people live better lives also. The author does a great job of writing her villain and making him overconfident about what he can do with the power he stole. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who are fans of the X-Men comics and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
We need a fresh start If the damage is getting to be so much that we might need to jump ship in the near future, then perhaps we should spend our resources more wisely. I mean, like, leave the portals for planet-hopping travel…wheeee!
Hmmmm…what if there was an alien race on Earth that was causing climate change – so as to run off humans from the planet?
Next in series are ‘Shadow Island’ and Hidden Medallions’.
A super gripping story. Elementals are important to Earth. But Earth is dying. They need a new planet. They find one and the elders go to oversee it. But from the moment she has stepped on the planet, Sybilline has felt off. And the feeling only gets worse.
After her meditation shows her the truth, she knows what she must do. Many will die but she can save some. It has to be enough.
Okay. I liked this book. It's well-written, but it fell a little flat for me. It might have been better to expand the story out into a novel, but as it is, it seemed to be missing something. That and the ending was a bit too dark for me. I'm a bit too shaken to want to continue the story.
In my humble opinion, I think the story could've used more character development for a minor character named Ruchi who figures to be a major character later in the series. Giving her more attention to better develop her character might have made it easier for me to handle the dark ending. I wanted to care about something to make me want to continue with the story but I didn't relate well enough to Ruchi to care.
