Now the New York Times Bestseller is adapted for the youngest readers.
Owen and Mzee's true story of friendship continues! Owen the baby hippo, who was separated from his mother during the devastating tsunami in Southeast Asia, chose Mzee the giant tortoise as his friend--and the pair's bond only continues to grow.
This story of survival and hope has captured the hearts of people the world over who marvel as the two unique friends spend their days together. As any good friend knows, you don't need words to show you care.
Craig Hatkoff is the co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival and of Turtle Pond Publications. Both Owen & Mzee: The True Story of a Remarkable Friendship and Owen & Mzee: The Language of Friendship are New York Times bestsellers. He lives with his wife and their two daughters in Manhattan.
This book has nice pictures but it didn’t impress my soon to be 3 year old. I understand that there is a big back story to Mzee and Owen but I think it would be better told for an adult who loves animals. A full story of them with professional photos of the two through out. I just really can’t picture this being any small child’s favorite book. For them, of course a hippo and tortoise would be best friends and they would probably talk like people and go on adventures together.
