He found her. His wolf claimed her. He'll do anything to save her.
Thirty years ago, wolf shifter and self-made billionaire Magnus Flink challenged and killed his sadistic alpha to stop him from torturing and murdering pack members. He's been a rogue ever since and wants nothing to do with pack politics. But now, a war is brewing between the four major shifter coalitions. And when a power-hungry alpha wields dark magic to kidnap the woman Magnus's wolf has claimed as mate, he'll have to stretch the limits of his abilities--animal and human--to save her.
Authors Note: This story is the prequel to The Norse Billionaire Shifters series. It was previously included in the 1001 Dark Nights Short Story Anthology 2020, which is no longer available. It is also included in the print edition of A Wolf's Hunger, the first book in the series.
USA Today Bestselling Author Asa Maria Bradley grew up in Sweden surrounded by archaeology and history steeped in Norse mythology, which inspired her sexy paranormal romance and urban fantasy series.
Booklist attributes Asa's writing with “nonstop action, satisfying romantic encounters, and intriguing world building” and Entertainment Weekly says “when it comes to paranormal romance with explosive action scenes, Bradley has that nailed.” Her work has received the honors of a double nomination for the Romance Writers of America’s RITA contest, a Reviewers’ Choice Award nomination, a Holt Medallion win, and a Booksellers’ Best Award win.
Asa came to the United States as a high school exchange student and quickly fell in love with ranch dressing and crime TV dramas of all flavors, two addictions she unfortunately still struggles with. Currently, she lives on a lake deep in the forest of the Pacific Northwest with a British husband and a rescue dog of indeterminate breed. Sadly, neither of them obeys any of her commands.
So keep in mind this is a very short story, I mean it’s only 30ish pages. So while there is some suggestive wording at one point there’s really no spice if that’s what you’re looking for. Otherwise it’s a fairly cute story about a rogue/lone wolf shifter pursuing the woman his wolf is claiming as his mate. There’s a little flirtatious banter, a little moment of intimacy, and some save the day fully shifted action all wrapped up in a mysterious and suspenseful plot line in the background of the story. I have to say, if this had been written as a full length novel so that theses little moments could be expanded on and the story had the chance to unfold naturally with the mystery in the background I think it would be quite an entertaining book. Not that this one wasn’t of course. It just left me wanting so much more. I wanted all of those moments in between that builds up the suspense and gives you an explosive ending as well as watching the connection between our two main characters develop and grow. It does end with a happy ending though and is a good pick for a quick read.
I enjoyed this human-shifter prequel/short story with a side of danger. Magnus is the billionaire CEO of a software security company and a packless alpha wolf shifter. Mina is a human journalist who is currently stuck writing fluff pieces for the magazine she works for. Magnus knows she’s his mate but Mina wants nothing to do with him because of her past experience with another wolf shifter. Until another wolf tries to kidnap her. The story gave us some glimpses of what the series will be about - Norse gods, dark magic, and pack wars but it was not enough detail to have me invested enough to keep reading. However, I may read the first book in the series anyway just because I am a fan of Norse mythology and of shifters.
Magnus Flink ain’t in this world to follow the politics of wolves, but he might be forced to when his to-be mate is, well, kidnapped. Jasmine is no stranger to the existence of wolves, she has a past and a promise to steer off their kind. But the Magnus guy chased her down and she decided to give him a chance in the six months later epilogue. This prequel, introduces important tidbits, I assume, for the real full length book. Just know there are enemies lurking and lessons to live in pack-like style, cause one day, you may need more help.
A delightful, short tale. Magnus has his eyes on a new acquisition: his mate, Jasmina Parker. On the other hand, she wants nothing to do with a wolf shifter after problems with her previous boyfriend. When pack politics take a turn for the worst, Mina is threatened. The ending is fabulous.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
Brilliant short story which I absolutely loved and would thoroughly recommend hoping that others enjoy it as much as I did. Magnus’s wolf is obsessed with Mina insisting that she is his mate. Mina knows about shifters as she had a controlling wolf shifter boyfriend before so she tries to ignore her attraction to Magnus. Can Magnus convince her that he is different from the wolf shifter she knew so they can be together.
A quick read that is a fantastic opener for the series. Magnus is the kind of bad boy that fantasies are made of. Arek and the pack politics are an interesting layer. But Mina and Magnus’ chemistry is everything. Do I wish it was longer? Yes. But it somehow feels full, story wise. It makes me want to check out the rest of the series.
Very short and it ended abruptly. There was no romance to speak of. She was avoiding him because another wolf had hurt her before. Then he rescued her from a kidnapping, and suddenly it’s over. She is just with him with no in between. There was no getting to know you or falling in love parts. Just didn’t work for me.
This is a very short, fun read that introduces us to the world of the Norse Warrior Protectors. I have actually read quite a few books in this series first. If you haven't, this is a good starting point, if you have then you'll probably already know that you'll enjoy this. There isn't much room for development here or a story to unfold, but it's still quite entertaining.
A quick, fast paced page turner. This prequel packs a lot into introducing this new series. Norse, shifter, fated mates are just a bit of what's in store for this series. It is a really good read and I look forward to reading more of this series.
Its 2 short!! I feel like it leaves alot of things out. It doesn't say much with only a few chapters. I seems things happened fast then saved. That's not much at all.
Incredibly short tease of a story, rife with editing misses. Well, if there even *was* an editor... If there was a homonym, the wrong one was chosen every time. Argh!
A Wolf's Desire by Asa Maria Bradley – A lady just can’t kiss a man in an alley safely! It’s a good thing her werewolf drives a fast car! Happy Reading!
