A fun lighthearted manga that perfectly pays tribute to the boldness of the game. It's the perfect tribute and adaptation.
I really enjoyed this. Whilst I still think the second one was the strongest in the series this one comes at a close second. Despite the dlc not being the core focus of the story it's still really fun. 5 volumes in and I think the personality of the human characters have all been fleshed out really well. My favourite story had to be the cooking one as it really fleshes out Guchan and gives he something fun to do. Honestly this series may feel plotless but I think reading it might be a good break if you've been reading a lot of dark and tense books lately.
Would have loved to rate this five stars due to it's incredible incoperation of the dlc + 2.0 update content but when all is said and done there is one major issue with this volume and that's the pacing. I really wish the update and dlc stories were spaced out over mutiple volumes as it felt really overwhelming and way too jam-packed. I understand its suppose to just be fun lighthearted stories that take place in the Animal Crossing world but it was still a lot. I didn't like how we got Rumba's Animal Crossing Diary in the middle when it's previously been at the end and also didn't like how we only got dlc content right near the end of the novel. Apart from that though I generally did enjoy this.
With the negatives out of the way it's time to move on to the positives.
First the humour. I don't what it is but every volume I read Rumba's humour and comedic timing just keeps getting better and better. I found myself smiling and laughing at every single cut away gag or how overly dramatic and flamboyant Coroyuki was being during a portion of a story. His antics are dialed up from a ten to an eleven this volume. I also liked how it wasn't just Coroyuki carrying the volumes comedy. For the first time Guchan got some generally funny moments that had me laughing out loud, the Raymond stuff had me amused and Himepoyo taking on Tom Nooks role from the first few volumes was just hilarious.
Secondly I have to praise the incredible art. The incredible art style never changes. It pops out and fits in with the aesthetic of the game beautifully. Each page pops with beauty and are very eye-catching to look at. Thanks to how bold and authentic the art style is even without the words I'd mostly be able to tell what was going on. It's hard to say but I think my favourite art has to be from the Creating The Perfect Spooky house story as it stands out in the manga style and perfectly represents how it feels to make a home in the dlc game. I hope the art quality continues to be consistent in future volumes.
Finally I have to praise the amazing incoperation of the dlc content and 2.0 Update content. I'm aware with how jam-packed both things were it mustn't have been easy but Rumba does an absolutely fantastic with what she's been given. Even clever is the fact that she matches aspects of the update to certain characters from the manga. I won't spoil but it certainly creates some very amusing antics. I also think Katrina, Lottie and Brewster are incoperated perfectly with their personalities completely accurate. If your a fan of the 2.0 update and the dlc regardless of age you definitely won't be disappointed.
Overall another amazing volume of Animal Crossing stories from Rumba and I'm very excited to see what other volumes will do. Highly recommend.
As an Animal Crossing fan I love these cute short stories and it’s a great way for me to practice reading manga. I think towards the beginning of the book the artist went a little overboard with strange expressions but other than that I enjoyed it just as I have the rest of the series!
It's a mega Bloop Island update! (Get it, cause the cover shows the DLC content, and- and- I'll be quiet now)
And in this chaotic volume we have: Serious island makeover; a look at the future with Katrina; a weirdly placed anecdote about the author's island; chilling with Brewster; fresh salmon with Kapp'n; a cottagecore diary; a new villager, and a Happy Home Paradise adventure. (Niko is adorable, I wanna plushie of him so bad)
This was a fun read. There were a lot of hilarious moments in this book that made me smile (it's crazy what kind of shenanigans those four main characters get in to). Surprisingly, there were a few calming, heartfelt moments, which was honestly a nice change of pace.
A cute read, making me want to get back to my island and join my villagers! We meet a few new characters in this, they have a coffee at Brewsters, we meet Graham the hamster and Lottie the otter.
They also have their futures told by Katrina but all is not what it seems!
This book was kinda meh. I mean the series is cute but now I just find the stories kinda boring, maybe because I don’t really play animal crossing anymore…
