Corinna Bechko has been writing comics since her horror graphic novel Heathentown was published by Image/Shadowline in 2009. Since then she worked for Marvel, DC, Boom!, Image, and Dark Horse, among others, on titles such as Planet of the Apes, Star Wars: Legacy, Savage Hulk, Aliens/Vampirella, Invisible Republic, and Green Lantern: Earth One. She was recently short-listed for the Aeon Award for her prose short Sooterkin. She is a zoologist by training.
Damn fine SW comic book series. Sorry to see it end, but at least the main story plots were resolved and resolved well.
And you know what? I am not convinced there will not be new "Legends" stories someday. Crazier things have happened in the publishing world of franchise fiction. In fact, I predict there will be more. Perhaps more Legacy II stories.
In the meantime, I am enjoying all the cool new things happening in the SWU. I mean, Star Wars comics are now available on Marvel Unlimited!!
This series doesn't have a very firm overall arc, but doesn't matter, this volume of comics makes up for the rest. It's got great dialogue, grasping art and some really inventive content (uh a planet where acidic glass shards rain from the heavens, yes please!)
Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3 finds Ania accused of a crime that she didn't commit and rockets to the top of that list on the Empress Marasiah Fel's order! The antics that result from this put the bigger mission of Ania, Sauk, AG-37 and Jao Assom on the line with them constantly having to defend themselves from the ongoing rush of Bounty Hunters coming after them! This adds to the books relentless feel of pace and energy, that adds to the other tones of the book, and that will keep you on your toes from the start of Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3!
Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3 is relentless in its pace from the beginning with plots twists and different characters with agenda popping up all over the place! Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3 will keep you guessing at to what is going to turn out and the has more twists than you can blink at! At the same time we continue to gather more insights into the workings of the Triumvirate and who really is in power! The Triumvirate really have a thing for catching up with Ania! At the same time we also get more backstory into Ania and what she was up to during the war which comes right back to bite her in Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3!
Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3 art is epic tying in the script perfectly! Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3 takes a epic canvass approach to the pains that dovetails perfectly with the script and gives everything an epic feel to it! :D Star Wars: Legacy II Vol. 3 is full of different tones, heroics, adventure and action right from the start! You will be up late with this one! Make sure you have the next one!
Ania Solo is wanted for the murder of an Imperial Knight. It’s news to her, though, which means someone is trying to frame her. When she conveniently has a run-in with an ex-boyfriend and disappears, the authorities figure it’s confirmation of her guilt. Her friends have questions, but they know Ania’s no killer. Imperial Knight Jao Assam risks everything to find evidence proving her innocence, and Darth Wredd uses the opportunity to fulfill his evil schemes…
Book 3 of Star Wars Legacy, “Wanted: Ania Solo” continues the fun and exciting adventures of the (it’s assumed but never verified) great-great granddaughter of Han Solo, who is carrying on her ancestor’s tradition of getting into trouble. Writer Corinna Beck and artist Gabriel Hardman created an enticing series, which unfortunately ended after only 18 issues under Dark Horse Comics.
It’s considered old canon, but I hope Disney/Marvel someday takes a look at some of these “Legends” for possible future reboots.
Wanted: Ania Solo may be somewhat unnecessary in the grand scheme of the whole Legacy storyline, but I'll give credit where credit is due and say that it's a vast improvement over its predecessor.
Hardman's illustrations are much better than Thies's and even Bechko's writing seems to have been reigned in with a much more concise, cohesive structure this time around. The plot still jumps around too quick (as people have said, it was probably Dark Horse's attempt to get this series out before Marvel took over), and it's still not as strong as the first iteration of Legacy, however I enjoyed this 3rd volume and can't wait to see where Bechko and Hardman decide to conclude their series.
2.5 stars honestly. Again more filler. Introducing the bounty-hunter-whip-lady last minute and then giving a backstory dump trying to make the reader retroactively care about this “big reveal” comes off lazy or at the very least unplanned (a reoccurring sin of modern star wars storytelling). Again the most intriguing plot point is the 2 dimensional villain Darth Wredd (I seriously can’t get over how bad that name is!) I should say I enjoy most of the ancillary characters: Mon Cal guy’s got a nice story arc, IG-88 wannabe is entertaining, young Jedi guy is a blank slat and older Jedi guy started off strong in the first book but became sidelined after that.
In this instalment Ania is being hunted by a bounty hunter due to a murder she claims she didn't commit. The bounty hunter has more riding on her capture than simply the collection of a bounty.
Exciting, set on a planet with crazy weather and with some great revelations and developments. Shame the artwork isn't more to my liking.
So I really enjoy the action in this, and the art is still really good. But I still feel like I don't really know Ania Solo. We meet her love interest Ramid, but don't really know much about their past.
Wanted: Ania Solo is the solid penultimate novel in the Legacy II series. Ania finds out there's a bounty out on her. Before she can even explain to her friends why, she is kidnapped and her friends must decide, is she even worth going after?
The artwork and design were excellent, the realism adding to the grit of the story. I was also fond of the TIE Bomber-styled ship as a throwback to earlier times.
The detriment I felt was the choices (or lack) of color palette on the outpost planet. The green/yellow made for something my eye just wanted to slide off. Then, to put that on the cover, when there were other more interesting and vibrant choices, was quite strange. I highly recommend a read if even for the full art pages at the end.
This is book 3 of 4 in the Legacy II series. It's better than the other 2; while the story is still a bit erratic in sequencing, it’s more cohesive. Too, the art is more unique, with different angles and persoectives.
Ania has a bounty on her head for killing an Imperial Knight. This fact confuses her and her friends. A very annoying bounty hunter is after her with a vengeance.
Ania, AG, Sauk and Jao come across a seemingly dead ship in a minefield. But there are live people inside, including a Very Important Person from Ania's past.
Actually, a lot of her past catches up with her here and we learn a lot. I just wish we knew of AG’s promise to Han!
The plot is really starting to move quickly now and I suspect it is because they were on a tight schedule to get this series finished before Dark Horse lost the license. The story suffers a bit as a result, though the plot and characters are still enjoyable. And this is another volume where there are some nice surprises for the reader. Unless I am mistaken, there is another new artist in this volume and in my opinion, the art has slowly deteriorated from excellent to just fine which is kind of a shame. That being said, this is still an enjoyable series and I read through these issues quickly because I enjoyed them.
This is all considered non-canon now and falls under the category now listed as Legends or alternate timeline. Personally, this timeline will be canon but even without factoring that personal opinion in, I loved seeing the far future of the Star Wars family names we have all come to love and hate. If you are a Star Wars fan, I highly recommend checking out this graphic novel series. If you are not a SW fan but love science fiction and graphic novels, I recommend checking it out, it is set up far enough in the future that having no knowledge of SW characters really will not hamper you enjoyment.
Ania's past is getting to her when she suddenly finds herself proclaimed a criminal responsible for killing of the Imperial Knight. This brings with it groups of bounty hunters and one is very determined to capture Ania ... but not for the reasons you would expect.
Again, very good story from the Legacy series. I like that authors are truly trying to flesh out the characters in this series and give the story a more serious tone.
Art is very good and something you dont see that much in Star Wars comics (in a good way).
Recommended to all fans of Star Wars and space opera in general.
I'm still enjoying this series and really like the characters. It just feels like it is a little pinched in the (unfortunate) rush to finish up the Dark Horse titles before the license goes to (did I mention that I feel that it is unfortunate?) Marvel.
I feel like 3 stars is way too low but yeah I'm bad at rating. But I like this series. The story isn't as grand and exciting as Legacy I but the characters are way less annoying. And not Cade Skywalker so it's already a huge improvement in that regard
