Dark Horse doesn't seem to have an age rating on the cover of the book but I assure those of you reading this that I could find no reason why this book could not be rated for All Ages. The book is an assortment of short stories (which at first was was fun jumping from one tale to a drastically different tale but it was also a bit tiring to read to many stories at a time.) Something I find funny about this book is it is called the "Unofficial Hatsune Mix" but the story and art are by KEI which are the ones that made Miku Hatsune so I am not sure how that makes this unofficial not that it matters. I just found that amusing. :)
The book is split into 3 parts and each chapter is a track as if each of the stories is just another song Miku and her vocaloid family sing together(is life kinda like a song sung with others? Thats a funny thought.) Each of these parts have not only a nice full color track list so you can find your favorite stories in a hurry but also some really nice artwork in full color to feed your eyes with graphic candies. :)
Since the book has 3 parts I thought I might share a favorite moment in each part (After all there are 31 stories between the three of them.) In part one I would say My favorite story is Wandering Mix which has Miku upset that their computer is so slow that is is hard to edit music on it and jumps into the internet to find a good home with a nice computer. In part two I would have to say the Love Mix with Miku and Len are making a commercial for a chocolate manufacturer around Valentines Day and Rin is a bit jealous. Finally in the third part of the book I would have to say the Sports Day Mix was one of my favorites as I watched Miku and Rin go head to head with there teams for the grand prize and the only rules are there are no rules so prepare for some truly bizarre cheating. :)
This Unofficial Hatsune Miku Mix is a good manga if you’re into this kind of stuff. If you aren’t that’s fine, but I suggest you start off with this book first. I liked how the author of this manga made all the characters fun and hilarious. But they obviously can’t do all that stuff which is what makes the book somewhat unrealistc. Nonetheless, it’s a funny book and, despite how large it is, very easy to finish. You won’t put it down and you’ll have a fun time reading this manga.
It's probably one of my favorite books because of the main character who I love, it's really long though and unless you were really into it like I was, you would not be able to finish it in one sitting. A theme for this might be your friends are always there for you.
This was a very beautiful volume with absolutely no substance. Giving skit energy but I found it to be more cutesy than actually funny and there are some chapters that with problematic body image takes that I wasn’t a fan of.
Talk about a fun read! I'm getting back into a bit of a Vocaloid Rennaisance of sorts, and it led to me scouring the internet to try to find a copy of this manga, which was the first time I'd ever seen anything Vocaloid in printed form (that wasn't strictly song lyrics or doujinshi.) Imagine my surprise to find it was already out of print, especially given the fact Dark Horse had been the company to bring it to an English-speaking audience! I guess it really flew off the shelves.
In terms of story (or more accurately, stories) this oneshot volume reads like a collection of cracky short stories more than anything else. None of the shorts connect to form a cohesive story or plotline, and the vast majority are humorous in nature. There are a couple of very sweet, heartwarming shorts in there as well. The art style of the manga is fun and feels a bit more streamlined than I'm used to seeing, and the color art pages included are gorgeous and vibrant!
Overall, I think this is a fun volume for any hardcore Vocaloid fan to own and read, and it's definitely more light-hearted if you're looking for something to perk up your mood. I highly advise searching websites like Half-Price Books, Thriftbooks, Book Depository, Alibris, or Abebooks to find a copy. If you try to search for it on Amazon, chances are high that the copies they're going to show you are pricey; you'll have better luck on one of the other sites.
So when I went to the store and picked this up, I was expecting something phenomenal because of all the good feedback it’s gotten from anime and manga fans. It was sort of an impulse buy, to be honest.
I had never actually read into this book. I definitely think I should’ve started with the anime or official manga. For me,, this book was soooo slow. I got to maybe one quarter of the book before throwing under the bed where it would never be found. I’m sure a ton of people would like it though, and that’s about the only reason I’m rating over one star. And, to be fair, if I do start the anime or official manga, I will probably like it a lot.
Though, on a good note, I really like the art style and wish it was a better manga that I would enjoy. The concept of vocaloid is also really creative and I wish that I had liked this more.
I actually really enjoyed this one. It's really cute for those of you who just want to relax and unwind with some vocaloid. It features many different short stories with different vocaloids. There's also very nice colored artwork in the pages. I really like the way the characters are portrayed, and besides the main 5 (Miku, Rin, Len, Kaito, and Maiko) theres also a few more, just way less often. Theres Kasane Teto sake, gakupo shows up, for like, 1 panel. Theres also Haku, I remember seeing her, can't remember where. I think it was in the race. Anyways, it's a super cute book, with super cute stories almost guarunteed to make you at least giggle. Very nice 5/5
I was actually pleasantly surprised! I think I didn’t read it sooner because I had anticipated such a deep need to understand then characters beforehand, which to be honest did help me get through it better. I play the game on PS3 on my twitch account (twitch.tv/dangerous_kaos) and it has helped me gain a better understanding of what the manga was portraying. I would recommend to anyone who is also a Hatsune Miku fan. It definitely is very intuitive about the game mechanics, and I got to understand the characters better than I did before.
Not even rating this. I have no idea how to feel about this. One second I'll be enjoying the art and the overall plot of some of the stories and then suddenly there's just something that makes me cringe or shouldn't even be there necessarily (for example fan service). Like actually I went from "Oh this is funny and cute :D" to "Oh she's not wearing clothes D:". Sometimes I didn't even know what was going on. But anyways that was something. It WAS mostly filled with comedy or heartfelt moments so I'm glad there was only a few moments that were not ideal.
Honestly a really cute and fun slice of life comedy starring the crypton vocaloid gang I can definitely see someone enjoying this without being into vocaloid but it’s definitely a book for people who are vocaloid fans and tbh if you’re reading this you most likely are one anyway. One thing I love about this book is the art it’s really cute art and the writer/artist who has done some of the really popular vocaloid art (most notably miku’s first art) does really well I love just seeing a whole manga just full of his art even having some pages of just random art is cool ngl I really like miku with glasses it’s cute. Another thing I think is cool is the random appearances of lesser known (at least at the time) vocaloids
I was hyped when buying this book, purchasing it a week after it hit shelves.
I ended up reading it 2 times, once by myself then 1 with my sister. I loved it both times!! The vocaloids were perfectly characterized (or at least in my opinion they were). You even get some glossy pages with just full color vocaloid art.
I definitely recommend this to any Vocaloid Fans out there who haven't checked it out yet.
As a big Miku fan, I loved to read this. It's especially aimed for vocaloid fans, so if you like to read manga, but you are not really into vocaloid I don't recommend it. I love the fact they called it UNOFFICIAL hatsune mix, that makes sure nothing in this manga is canon about Miku and the other cryptonloids. Miku can still be anything.
This was so refreshing Cute short stories I used to listen to a bunch of Miku Hatsune back in highschool. So the memories and fun times when I cosplayed as Miku were brought back while reading this manga.
Chimba Miku x luka real hasta la muerte y que dejen de ser tan mk que ese otro man que no me aprendí el nombre no se merece a ninguna de esas diosas 👎👎. Okey know being for real is a hilarious manga with a beautiful extra paint pages, totally worth to read

Oof! I could not even finish this book. I read it for about 45 minutes and had to give up on it. There is no point to it at all. The short stories are all just a few pages long. I’m not sure who this is even aimed at but it was extremely unenjoyable
Well I really wanted to read it because it's made by the vocaloid legend KEI, and it was fun! Except for some questionable fragments. There's two specific moments I'm thinking of, but I'm not in the mood to explain.
really nice to read just for fun :3 basically it's a bunch of really short chapters featuring the main 6 cryptonloids so if you're looking for like a deep story about the vocaloids just go on ao3 or sometjing
