Incredibly cute romance book. The plot was all you could hope for in a wholesome romance.
There are no spicy scenes for those who prefer it or not. The mention of them kissing is as spicy as it gets.
Character development is excellent.
Wasn't crazy about her booking agent. I feel like she should have known what happen 🤣 that's just me being over invested.
The ending is a dream, and I'm sure it's one every girl wishes she found herself in, in real life, not just fantasy 😆

This is a very sweet cozy little romance set mostly in Tuscany. I listened to this on audiobook and the narration was very good. A predictable but still very enjoyable story about coming back from personal loss and finding the confidence to get back to living. There is a lot of wonderful description of Tuscany and the easy going lifestyle of the Italian countryside. It made me want to leave all of every day life behind and head to Italy!

I loved this book so much I’ve booked a little holiday to Italy! The setting is a perfect backdrop for people who are too busy and need to learn to live a little. Gorgeous descriptions of Tuscany in the summer- the place, the food, the wine. And, of course, a little (!) romance to add to the occasion. Such a lovely summer read - I’ll be taking this with me to read again while I wander around Florence.

Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard is the gloriously entertaining new romantic read from Carrie Walker you are going to love.

Abi Mason had had her heart smashed into a million tiny pieces when she had been in her early twenties. Devastated and determined never to go through that pain ever again, Abi had decided to put all her time, energy and focus on her career. Who needs a man when you’ve got the corporate ladder to climb? Abi’s resolve to stay single and to never go beyond the first date seems to be working brilliantly – until she goes on holiday to Tuscany and meets a dashing American who turns her whole world upside down!

Tony is handsome, charming, attentive and has made her feel things she hasn’t experienced in a very long time. As Abi finds herself slowly breaking her own rules and coming out of her comfort zone, will she stop keeping her heart under lock and key and take a chance on love? Or will her fears and insecurities end up costing her the love of a good man who will give her the world?

Carrie Walker’s Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard is a delightful contemporary romance full of wit, sizzle and humour that will leave you with a great big smile on your face. With two great characters you will root for, hilarious repartee and a gorgeous setting that will make you want to pack your bags and book the first flight to Italy, Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard is a dreamy romance by Carrie Walker you don’t want to miss.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pack your bags and uncork the laughter in this delightful romantic escapade!

After getting her heart broken in her early twenties, Abi Mason vowed to live by a simple (but non-negotiable) rule: no second dates. Who needs a boyfriend, or anything else for that matter, when you have a career to think about?

But life has other plans: with some unexpected time on her hands, Abi finds herself on holiday in Tuscany. Among sun-dappled vineyards and olive groves, Abi meets dashing American Tony, and it seems the universe is conspiring to force her out of her comfort zone...

If Abi can break her own rules, could this unexpected Italian fling lead her to a happiness she never dared to dream of?

My Opinion

Let me start my review by saying that this book as a stunning cover - I was just drawn to this book. With some lovely descriptions of Tuscany, you will feel like you are on holiday - especially if like me you are reading this on a miserable day. This was a fun and easy book to read. After the first few chapters I didn't want to put the book down.

Whilst this is the second book in the Holiday Romance series the books are very easy to read as standalones. Carrie Walker is another author that I have added to my must read list.

One of my favourite things about reading is armchair travel and when the SquadPod were offered the chance to read Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard I jumped at the chance to be transported back to the place I fell in love with while on honeymoon last year.

Ever since the loss of her husband when they were young Abi Mason has protected herself from further heartache by keeping busy and with a firm no second date rule. Her career comes first and she has no time for romance.
When she gets an unexpected break in her schedule her best friend convinces her that it's finally time to visit her in Tuscany, where she meets Tony, a charming American who tempts Abi to break her own rules. Could Abi have found what she didn’t know she was looking for?

Upbeat, funny, and moving, this sizzling romcom was the perfect summer read. Carrie Walker’s evocative imagery transported me to the gorgeous vistas of Tuscany, and I could see the lush green hills, feel the scorching sun on my skin, and taste the cold, crisp wine. It feels like the ideal place to fall in love. But Abi doesn’t give in so easily, and I enjoyed the will-they-or-won’t-they aspect of the story.

Abi is a great protagonist who was easy to relate to and root for. My heart ached for her and all she’d been through, Walker expertly conveying the devastation of losing the person you thought you’d be with forever, and the fear of going through that kind of loss again. But like her best friend, Holly, I was cheering her on and willing her to open up her heart to love once again. And with Tony on the scene how was she going to resist? Tony is a dreamy love-interest. The chemistry between him and Abi was clear from the start and it was impossible not to be rooting for them to get together.

So if you’re looking for a charming and escapist summer romance, then this book is for you.

This book was adorable and absolutely perfect for this time of year. I read it with the sun shining behind me, and I swear, I had the goofiest smile on my face the entire time. It was just that good! Set in Italy, the descriptions were so vivid and dreamy—I genuinely felt like I was right there, soaking up the summer sun, sipping on wine, and indulging in some delicious Italian food.

This is the second book by Carrie Walker, and if you’re in the mood for a cozy, feel-good romance with lovable characters, I highly recommend both Escape to the Swiss Chalet and Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard. Definitely read them in order—Holly and Abi are best friends, and each book tells their story.

I especially loved getting to know more about Abi—her background, her passion for makeup—it made her character feel so real. But what I adored most was the theme of living in the moment. We’re always chasing something, constantly staying busy, and sometimes we forget that life is short. This book was such a beautiful reminder to pause, take a breath, and just enjoy—whether it’s with family, friends, or even by yourself.

And that’s exactly why I loved this book even more. 😍

I want to move to Tuscany right now!!! I just finished Carrie Walker’s second novel and I think I love it a little bit more than her first!

Abi is a phenomenal make up artist but her first foray into the silver screen ends abruptly so with time to fill, she’s off to see bestie Holly in the Tuscan countryside. Abi is a go-go-go kinda gal so slipping into the relaxed Italian way of life is a shock to the system but I think she got used to it – I certainly would !!! Pancakes for breakfast, yoga, wall to wall sunshine, sunbathing by the pool? Sounds absolute bliss if you ask me!

The friends Abi makes on her break are so real! I loved how she rapidly grew to care about those around her but who wouldn’t, they’re a super friendly bunch and I want to share a glass of vino with them myself! I must admit, Tony did draw me in as a bit of a crush. He was so smooth and suave. His demeanour was just perfect despite the nature of his visit.

I fell in love with Walker’s writing when I went to the Alps with Holly. Going to Tuscany with Abi just solidified my adoration for this writer’s stories. They transport me lock stock to a place where I can have a bit of fun and having never been to Tuscany, I felt I was there. I was surrounded by people who were so warm and caring, I couldn’t help but feel all fuzzy-like. So Carrie, where are we going next???

Make-up artist Abi was only in her twenties when her happily ever after went awry. She is unwilling to let herself fall for another man, so sticks rigidly to her no-second-dates rule. A bit of fun... a one-night stand... that is all she needs. Who needs a boyfriend anyway, when she has ambitious career plans?

But when her big break working behind the scenes of a big movie falls through, she decides it might be time for a holiday away from her busy routine, and it just so happens that her friend Holly has been begging her to come for a visit in intoxicating Italy.

A holiday on a Tuscan vineyard is everything Abi was looking for - sunshine, scenery, and delicious food. She even hits it off with a handsome Italian-American stranger right away, throwing in some welcome spice too. What she does not expect is that Tony turns out to be the man who might just persuade her to break her rigid dating rules. Is it time to open her heart to love once more...?

Carrie Walker carries you off to beautiful Tuscany for a rom-com escape filled with Italian delights! As Abi allows herself to relax and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of her adventure, Walker brings Italy alive with wonderful descriptions of landscape, culture, food and drink that will have you longing for a holiday on the hillside in San Gimignano.

But the real beauty of the story lies in the characters. Abi makes a great protagonist, and Walker writes nicely about the personal and professional sides of her life. There are really engaging storylines of romantic suspense with man-of-mystery Tony; a puzzle to be worked out around shenanigans on Abi's work front; and compelling dramas at the vineyard, that can only be solved by a pulling together of the local community members who become Abi's friends - and a fabulous 'revenge' twist in glamorous surroundings that will have you chuckling; and a full on, heart warming finale. Perfect!

It is a joy to be at Abi's side as she is finally able to confront her ghosts, remember who she used to be, and find a way to open her heart to the prospect of love once again over the course of her holiday, via the bumps in the road that are part of every good rom-com journey, of course. Walker touches with sensitivity on some deep subjects in the process too, especially when it comes to family, friendship, loss, and the dark side of the entertainment industry.

I consumed this little gem in one delectable bite, and thoroughly enjoyed my jaunt to gorgeous Tuscany. I cannot wait for my next holiday with Carrie Walker!

Escape To The Tuscan Vineyard by Carrie Walker

⚠️ CAUTION ⚠️ If you’re craving to visit the Tuscan region, then reading this book will make you want to book a flight like right now! This book is full of the perfect summer itinerary in Toscana, covering San Gimignano, Sienna, Florence, with a hint of Pisa.
The book follows Abi Mason (I want to say Abigail?), a professional make up artist who likes to keep herself very busy with her endless back to back gigs suddenly finds herself paid but free for an entire month thanks to a double booking at a movie set. Abi loves to run a tight ship, keeping her flat immaculate, running her daily 5k and eating the same portion controlled breakfast. Her only rule, no second dates!
Her bff Holy convinces Abi to visit her in San Gimignano and spend sometime unwinding. Staying at a gorgeous vineyard complete with a pool, cute puppies, an endless supply of sun and a good-looking Italian man (Tony), what more could Abi want, apart from breaking her own rule and spending a lot of time with Tony, exploring Tuscany, doing fun Italian things. The story unpacks the reason behind Abi’s self imposed rule and not wanting to know anyone more than the casual hookups, and her fear of bikes and vespas.
It was hard to keep the book down after getting fully immersed into la dolce vita!

Things I ❤️ about the book:
🛵 The obvious: summer in Italy!
🛵 Loved reading about the FMC unapologetic about her dating life.
🛵 The super cute BnB vineyard and the Vendemmia festival!
🛵 Tony sounds like an absolute dream (almost too good to be true)!

Things I 🥵 about the book:
🛵 Abi’s best friend Holy! She was non existent considering she was the one who had invited Abi to Italy in the first place!

I would highly recommend if you like me, love anything and everything Italian!

What a delightful summer read! Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard has everything I love about contemporary fiction: a plucky lead character, an exotic location, and a romance that's sprinkled with a healthy dose of organic comedy – the kind that comes from people and situations and never feels contrived.

What I loved was that Abi isn't perfect but is beautifully flawed. A bad relationship when she was young has given her very believable trust issues, and watching her untangle herself from her history was both endearing and funny. Especially once she meets Tony, who might just be worth some mental - and emotional - unpacking.

I also appreciated that Abi's friends were really supportive of her – even pointing out that she does things for other people all the time, and therefore should let them take care of her for a change (I'm looking at you, Holly.) Her visit to her friend is, of course, the catalyst for the bulk of the novel.

Similarly, I enjoyed the villain of the piece. Blake was written brilliantly – just the right blend of smiles and sleaze.

Author Carrie Walker's breezy style is ideal for this type of story. It's light without being frothy, and the characters, while living in a somewhat heightened version of reality, are also extremely relatable. (I laughed out loud at the opening scene with Abi and her mother.)

Overall, this is a solid rom-com with some great moments.

Goes well with: limoncello, on a balcony, at dusk.

As we patiently wait for summer to arrive here in the UK, how about being transported to the baking hot Tuscan countryside with a charming romcom? Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard is a delightful escapist read that cannot fail to make you smile.

Abi knows all about heartbreak, and as a result chooses to throw herself into her career as a make-up artist and never form attachments by never going past a first date. But things become a little complicated when, with an unexpected gap in her work schedule, she goes to Tuscany to visit her best friend - and meets someone who may just turn her well-ordered life upside down and reopen her heart.

This is just such a lovely story - it is hard not to be enchanted as you are swept up into village life in Italy, with the sights, sounds and food all vividly brought to life. Abi is a delightful protagonist and watching her begin to come to terms with all she has endured and let herself move on is a delight. Her romance with the charming but slightly enigmatic Tony has a few bumps along the road, and I enjoyed the way in which her personal and professional lives ultimately collided in a rather satisfying way - and the “baddie” got his comeuppance! With the cutest ever ending (who can resist a poem from a dog ….!) this is such a heartwarming read that is escapism at its best!

*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review*

This is a cute story where make up artist Abi is forced to re evaluate her views on love and not always being able to control everything after she is given a month paid leave between contracts. She visits her friend Holly in Tuscany, Italy and soaks in the sun and Italian culture. Abi meets Tony who sweeps her off her feet and is a breath of fresh air in contrast to her past relationships, he is the epitome of a gentleman. Together they explore themes of grief and moving on from a tragic period of their individual experiences.

The plot is simple and the attention to detail in immersing the reader in Tuscany is good, but I would have liked more character development to understand Tony’s character in more detail and look beyond his attractive exterior. The fact that he works in film is not really touched upon and would have made the ending stronger. I think this needed Tony’s POV to create more chemistry in their growing friendship and romance.

Overall, a fun and easy to read book with low stakes that had me envious of Abi spending two weeks in beautiful Tuscany. Once the story got going I didn’t want to stop reading.

The Tuscan countryside stands proudly at the centre of this delightful story where it weaves its magic on a couple of work obsessed strangers. Abi is still nursing a broken heart after a traumatic relationship and has built a shell around herself so that her strict regime keeps her safe from further harm - or so she hopes. It is as if part of her life has stood still and she has filled the vacuum in her life with a busy schedule of yoga, family, friends and most of all work. Forced to slow down, Abi finds herself visiting her dearest friend and as she meets the locals, her life seems to open up, slowly but surely.

There are some lovely characters in the story. Life on the vineyard is idyllic and Abi makes some lasting friendships. It is an uplifting story with humour added and goes along at a pace. As an escapist romcom, it can't be beaten but there are some important messages within about slowing down and savouring the moment as life can be short. Full of the sounds and colour of Tuscany, you are taken on a trip there with Abi and I loved the descriptions of all that gorgeous sounding Italian food.

In short: a great holiday read

This novel took me to Italy!

If you're looking for your next summer read that will transport you away then look no further. Carrie has once again awed me with her amazing writing and story telling skills. From the first chapter I was entrapped in Abi's crazy life. I really enjoyed this fmc and kind of related to her outlook on dating which may have been why I loved this book so much, however life has funny way of giving you everything you didn't know you needed and as with this book we get to go on a fun adventure while Abi figures that out.

This is such a feel good read, I tend to devour books like this that have a unique plot line as well as lots of interesting twists and turns. The romance was amazing as well as this authors sense of humour, there's never a dull moment during this whole read. If you haven't read a book by Carrie yet you need to drop what you're doing and pick one up because they're always a good time!

Carrie Walker - Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard

Thank you so much to Carrie Walker, Head of Zeus and Rachel’s random resources for gifting me a paperback copy of 'Escape to the Tuscan vineyard' in exchange for an honest review.

Oh how I wish I could escape to Italy for a month like Abi, reading this book transported me too one of my favourite places in the whole world. The culture, the people, food and art, this book captures the magic of Italy so well. I found Abi's story of rediscovering who she is now rather than the fearful version she had become really inspirational and taking that leap into the unknown can be so scary but the rewards can be beautiful. The characters radiated warmth and true friendship I hope this is the start of a series as I would love to revisit the family dynamic in this book.

QOTD ❓ Have you been to Italy?

I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

This is a contemporary romance. On first impressions, the protagonist, Abigail, seemed a very warm and fun character, but I had the feeling that she was searching for something more in life. So I was excited to follow her as a reader, on her trip to Tuscany.

I read this on a dreary rainy day, and it provided me with the escape I needed, as well as a touch of metaphorical warmth and sunshine. It made me smile, and in places, it spoke to me more deeply than I was expecting, as there were some moral messages that resonated with me at the time of reading. It was a lovely read, perfect for relaxing in the summer sunshine, or to lift your spirits on a rainy day.

Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources, NetGalley, and to the author and publisher, for the opportunity to read and review this.

I thought this was such a fun read so easy to fall into and not want to come out again as I was so absorbed. Just the idea alone of two weeks on holiday somewhere glorious is an idea of heaven, so if I can’t go in reality , I may as well join Abi in these pages and get my escape here.

I can more than happily say I got my own little piece of heaven in the pages of this book, Carrie’s descriptions of Tuscany were so wonderful I felt like I was basking in the warm sun myself. I really loved Abi and could really relate to her and loved watching her growth as she embraced a change and moved forward.

Overall, I loved and more than enjoyed this story, the friendship, second chances at love ( giving yourself a second chance too) and life, it’s just a wonderful escape.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is another easy romantic read from the author of Escape to the Swiss Chalet. For all lovers of a romantic getaway from it all story this one won’t disappoint as it has all the ingredients to enable you to wile away a few hours in the Tuscan countryside wondering will she won’t she with a handsome Italian/American.

The different characters and their relationships to each other are beautifully described and we would all love to have a best friend like Holly in our lives.

For me this is the type of book I want to read when I want to escape the reality of life for a while and don’t want to read anything too taxing or thought provoking. From this perspective Escape to the Tuscan Vineyard ticks the boxes on all levels. Now all I need today do is book myself a holiday in Tuscany and check up on the Vineyard B&Bs.

This was the perfect summer read and I loved being transported to Tuscany.
The setting of the book and the descriptive writing really made me feel as if I was there and it was the perfect backdrop. The villa among the vineyards sounded so idyllic and I could almost imagine myself there.
I really liked Abi's character and felt a real connection with her. I liked the journey that she went on and it allowed for character development, which was really nice to see.
The relationships within the book were just perfect. Friendships, both new and old were lovely to see but I really liked the relationship that Abi developed with Tony, as it allowed her to really move on from her past and question her choices and lifestyle. Tony was just amazing 😍 and I really liked the twist at the end with who he really was and the ending was everything I wanted for Abi and was just perfect.

What a gloriously summery book this is, set of course in a Tuscan vineyard.

Abi is given some unexpected time off work and is persuaded to visit her friend Holly out in Tuscany,.

Just one problem Abi doesn't do relaxing, holidays, and tends to be set in her routines

So she decides instead to write the ultimate Tuscany to do list and intends to knock it out i a few days, say she has done Italy and go home.

Well until it becomes rather apparent that it is easier said than done, and that she may just have half an attraction to one of the other guests.

I enjoyed watching Abi slow down to the Tuscan way of life, and immerse herself in a new lifestyle, all the while wondering what will happen after this month off.

It's a gorgeous summer read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to Aria and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Let me start by saying I love the colours and design of this book cover. It makes me want to escape to Tuscany myself.

Abi Mason likes to be in control of everything, so when things go wrong at work in her busy London job and she is put on gardening leave, she decides to take a trip to Tuscany to visit her best friend Holly under some duress. Having sworn off men for life after having her heartbroken, she has a firm rule, no second dates (if you don't let them in, they can't leave you). She gets more than she bargained for when she meets the dashing Tony. Having kept herself career focused, Abi has managed to steer clear of love but somehow she seems to be breaking all her rules.

This book makes a lovely summer read, it's about friendship, starting over with some beautiful scenery, delicious food and likeable characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Aria for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It is one of those books that made me wish you could give half stars as I would actually rate it as a 3.5.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ - It was just okay, didn’t move me, but don’t feel like I wasted me time reading it either.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Really liked it. Will read more by the author and other books in the series.

This is the second book by Carrie and it didn’t disappoint. Love it all, the scenery, the characters and the plot. It’s funny and makes you smile. Love the writing too, easy flowing and quick to read in one sitting. It makes you want to jump on a plane to Italy now.

Abi works as a makeup artist, when her job is double booked in London, she’s goi g to visit her friend in Italy. She doesn’t like change so it’s unnerving for her. Love her lists though. 😂 She ends up on a plane to Italy and loves it, she might even meet a lonely guy.

It’s a happy, sunny romantic rom-com 5 star read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

It's a lovely story about friendship, loss and second chances set in romantic Tuscany. The author quickly immerses you in Abi's life as a make-up artist who never dates more than once and has a supportive female friendship group. When her latest job ends unexpectedly, she decides to see her best friend in Tuscany and finds her holiday to be a life-changing experience. I like the descriptions of the culture, food and locations. I enjoyed the insight into life as a make-up artist. I enjoyed Abi's emotional journey as she recaptured her zest for life and love.

A summer read book full of clichés about Italy and Tuscany. I couldn’t empathize with any of the characters. Aby was just a normal character without any trace of deep personality. In the beginning there were couple of storylines that they could really feel explore though the story… like her relationship with her best friend or the lost of her first husband. However, every secondary character lacks of personality and they serve only to fill the dialogues with the main character.
In summary, in summary, this book could have lot more of potential.

Such a wonderful escapist read.

I loved Carrie Walker's first book so I knew to expect armchair travel, warm-hearted explorations into love and relationships and some laugh-out-loud antics. This book didn't disappoint! I loved the portrayal of Tuscany - a location I love and thought was captured beautifully. And it was fun to peek behind the scenes of a makeup artist's life. It's also SO romantic.

Highly recommended.

Cute and vibey, just not my cup of tea ☕️ The story was very slow and uneventful and very much «tell don’t show» (aka wayy too descriptive, my gen Z-over-stimulated brain does not handle that well). I generally found the story rather millenial-core, which is not a critique AT ALL - it was just not for me personally to enjoy✌🏼

Took me back to Tuscany

We love Tuscany, but haven't been back for a while. What a delight to return to a typical agri-turisimo with a rich array of characters and a twisting storyline that kept me enthralled throughout. A first read of Carrie Walker but certainly not the last. Charming escapism - just what the doctor ordered.
