“ …for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” – 2 Nephi 25:23 Of the tender mercies of the Lord, the most precious of all is the gift granted to us through His Atonement – the ability to be reconciled to God. Through His grace, we may be saved.
This is an audiobook, a shortened version of the book.
I seem to remember that this book came about after there was a death of a son and healing that needed to take place. And how the Savior was able to help in their grief, when surrendering their will to God.
From a hypothetical sunday school lesson these thoughts on grace came up. "I have been thinking of the word AFTER. It seemed to the student that the teacher had avoided giving a direct answer to the word AFTER, as in "AFTER ALL THAT WE CAN DO." The learner determines that maybe he had placed the emphasis on after in the wrong place. That maybe grace is offered, in spite of all we can do. It could be also, "not withstanding all we do we are saved by grace?
The audiobook is selections from the book. It is full of poignant stories about how grace helps individuals through devastating losses. No doubt the book goes into grace in more detail.
Great insight into the concept of Grace and the Atonement. While I don’t fully comprehend Grace or the Atonement, I think I have a much better understanding now. As I see it we are all saved by Grace and not just in the sense of salvation also exaltation. Without the Grace of Jesus Christ we cannot possibly attain salvation or exaltation - we cannot do it on our own. As we accept Jesus Christ into our lives and strive to do his will we will come to know Him and love Him which then moves us to become more like Him and thus move closer to exaltation. None of this would be possible without the Grace of Jesus Christ.
I am beginning my search in understanding the principle of grace in my life. This book was an excellent book to begin with, not just for the incredible insights provided, but also for the bibliography which will give me direction.
Some great insights into the atonement and the grace of Jesus Christ. The effects of the atonement in our individual lives allow us to receive grace for grace as we come closer to becoming like our Savior.
This shed some great light on grace, something that as LDS we seem to forget or not understand. I don't know how doctrinally sound it is but it definately gets you thinking.
