What a cozy and charming Christmas romance!

Evelyn is determined to marry soon before her secret is revealed and she is ruined in the eyes of society. But before she can arrange a betrothal to another man, first she has to keep her heart intact while stuck in a snowstorm with her brother’s best friend who cannot help but flirt with her shamelessly with her…and every other woman he meets.

Gilbert has been in love with Evelyn for years but he harbors a secret of his own, one which makes him unworthy of pursuing her. But spending Christmas alone with her at her family’s hunting lodge makes him want to forget all the reasons why she can never be his.

What to love:
Regency romance
Dual POV
Brother’s best friend
He falls first
Forced proximity
Slow burn
Secrets
Sledding
The baking!!
Gilbert’s flirting
The entire last chapter…and epilogue!

This one gave me all the warm, cozy Christmas romance feelings! Their time at the hunting lodge was just what they both needed to get to know the other person behind the mask they wear in public and oh, their story is so very, very sweet.

I enjoyed every minute of this one - perfect read for the holidays for any fan of historical romance! 4.5 stars

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

Oh, Evelyn and Gilbert, how I love you! These two are just the sweetest couple! Evelyn needs to wear glasses but doesn't because she doesn't want society's judgment/to find out her secret cause of her vision troubles. No one knows of her vision issues except close family. She needs to marry quickly before her secret gets out. Gilbert is Evelyn's brother's best friend and has been in love with Evelyn for a long time. He needs to marry for money and feels he doesn't deserve Evelyn. So, he teases her repeatedly. When they get trapped together, in a snowstorm, Evelyn sees Gilbert's Non teasing side and the connection is made between them.
Like I said, I love this couple. I loved how they each had a secret that the other didn't know. I love Gilbert's teasing/flirty personality! I found myself laughing so much at his antics. Evelyn can be a little too serious sometimes, because she is so worried. But Gilbert helps her lighten up and have fun. Some highlights include cutting evergreen branches, sledding, baking and fun party games. Watching them learn to trust each other was wonderful and of course the romance was great too. Overall, a great read and I definitely recommend!

I loved this darling novella! Both characters felt so real, and I was eager for them to open up to each other and connect on a deeper level. I think the author is particularly skilled with those little moments of touching that still manage to give you butterflies.

“There is nothing in this world I want more than you.”

Spunky and lovely Evelyn Wayford must marry, and quickly, before all of society learns her painstaking secret, one she fears will tarnish her future without question. Luckily, she has found just the man, and a Christmas house party is just the place to secure his proposal.

Evelyn seems rather confident in her plan, so long as her brother’s good friend Gilbert keeps his distance, as his flirtatious ways tend to be particularly distracting, as well how much he provokes her. Yet at rhetorical same time. Gilbert makes her heart race in equal measure. Despite her best efforts, just being near him always sends her heart into a tizzy…

Charming and handsome Gilbert Marshall has secrets of his own. Secrets that demand he marry for wealth regardless of where his true affections lie. If only his heart didn’t long for the one person he feels he cannot have, that he feels unworthy of. And if that knowledge was not enough, now he must endure the torture of watching Evelyn form an attachment to another man during her family’s house party…

@authormirandadnelson this is such a sweet quick read story with such heartwarming relatable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed how this story came together and I do think Gilbert and Evelyn make a delightful couple together!! The time spent at the hunting lodge was quite a sweet adventure. This book is well-worth the read!

Eeeeeeppp! Regency! Christmas! New-to-me author! I am in bibliophile heaven! And the close proximity trope is written to perfection! Happy sigh!

So, Gilbert (brother’s best friend trope) has been falling in love with Evelyn for years but he has a secret that prevents him from acting on his feelings. He’s created an annoying (to Evelyn) persona in order to keep his distance so this also starts out with a bit of enemies to more trope too. Eeeeep! But Evelyn also has a secret which, of course, complicates things even more.

The romance is so well paced. Unhurried, with lots of banter and playfulness…and fireworks! Loved how Gilbert and Evelyn gradually lower their guard and really get to know each other. And the way the author builds the suspense behind their secrets (especially Evelyn’s) kept me riveted. At first I thought she was being a ninny but when I realized there was so much more going on…well, just, wow!

All the lovely old-fashioned Christmas celebrations and games brought a nice, cozy ambience to the story. Such a different time, with much simpler and more innocent amusements! Kinda made me homesick for a past I never experienced!

A beautifully written, heartwarming holiday romance. Will definitely be hunting down more Miranda D. Nelson novels in my reading future.

“A kiss is the only cure to a racing heart.” Evelyn’s embarrassed laughter joined in with the others. “You are odious.”

This is such a fun brother’s best friend to more story that’ll touch your heart and make you smile! Oh my goodness I love Evelyn and Gilbert! Gilbert is a confident flirty tease who loves to get a reaction out of Evelyn. Evelyn is just so lovely, and a bit feisty too. This makes for some fun and swoony moments!

I loved the fun Christmas traditions, the forced proximity, the Christmas games, the flirty banter, and the chemistry betweeem these two. I really enjoyed getting to know them and the falling in love was the sweetest! Their personalities were so fun, and I enjoyed their secrets slowly being revealed throughout the story!!!!

Read for:
🤍A snowstorm
🤍Dual pov
🤍Brother’s best friend

🤍Christmas time

This novella was so fun and sweet, with such a tender love story!!! What an enjoyable read that’ll touch your heart, bring you joy, and spread Christmas cheer!

This is such a sweet story that gave me all the warm fuzzies! Evelyn is a sweetheart with a secret, and Gilbert is a serial flirt who secretly only has eyes for Evelyn. Their time stuck together in a hunting lodge during a snowstorm allows them to truly see the people behind the public personas they have both donned.

Gilbert and Evelyn are both so easy to love and root for. It has a particular plot point I don't read often in regency novels, so it was super interesting to see how it played out and affected the story. I enjoyed every moment and had such a hard time putting it down! That final chapter though 🤌🏼.

More to Love:

❄️ He's got it bad for her
❄️ Forced Proximity
❄️ Sledding
❄️ Baking
❄️ Broomstick Fencing

This was such a beautiful story. At times it made me laugh, it showed great emotion, and brought Christmas cheer.

Evelyn can’t stand her brother’s friend Gilbert. Gilbert hides his feelings for Evelyn by teasing and flirting. While on her way to a house party, Evelyn gets snowed in with Gilbert at a hunting lodge. Between trying to bring festive cheer and just passing the time they find themselves being more authentic with each other. Will they share their deep dark secrets? Or will those secrets push them apart?

Highlights:
Fencing with broomsticks!
Sweet baking scene
Evelyn’s brother Simon is wonderful (and deserves his own book!)

I love Evelyn for how resilient she is. She doesn’t let her limitations weaken her, but strives onward. I love how brave she is when it is time to be vulnerable.

I love Gilbert for how thoughtful he is and the value he places on the people around him. I love that while he puts up a flirty facade he is still a true gentleman.

How can I put into words how much I LOVED this book? There are books you read for fun and like. There are books you really enjoy. But then, like this one was for me, there are books that you completely fall in love with. Secrets in the Snowstorm completely stole my heart from the first page. How have I never read anything by this author before? That is going to change now!

This might just be my new favorite Christmas book ever! I couldn’t put this sweet story down. Well, almost. I did put it down once to put up my Christmas tree, something that made the book even more special. The romance between Evelyn and Gilbert had me smiling from beginning to end. I felt so bad for Gilbert because he was so in love with Evelyn, but he knew she couldn’t be his. I’m not usually a fan of books where one of the characters is already in love at the beginning, but in this book, it was perfect for the story!

Evelyn and Gilbert are trapped in a snowstorm, which causes them to spend Christmas together away from their families. I loved the little, sweet scenes like the sledding, baking together, decorating for Christmas, broom fencing, and pretty much everything they did together. Secrets in the Snowstorm was the perfect Christmas read to get you into the holiday mood! I will be thinking about this book for a long time.

Oh, my orange rolls!!! Secrets in A Snowstorm by @authormirandadnelson was an amazing Christmas Novella! I'm literally dying over here just over the bread baking scene alone!

Gilbert and Evelyn are hands down the cutest couple ever. They are so understanding of each other, and the way they tease each other is just so swoon worthy!!

Miranda really brought a snowed in romantic Christmas to life with this romance!! I absolutely fell into a world of snow, evergreen, and the most delicious orange rolls. Seriously, I got to go make some rolls now!

Run don't walk to get this absolutely amazing book that you will want to devour this Christmas!! Gift it to yourself or someone you love because everyone needs to read this book!

This book is the absolute definition of a cozy Christmas romance. When you mix Regency romance with a snowstorm, forced proximity, brother's best friend, secrets, Christmas activities, slow burn for the FMC and he falls first for the male. It is the perfect mix of of all that and more. Evelyn and Gilbert are sure to still your heart just as they did mine because their chemistry and overall romance is just so sweet and special. Reading their story, watching them come together thanks to a snowstorm makes for a delightful read.

I highly recommend this Christmas romance, and the rest of the Once Upon a Snowstorm romance series because they will sweep you away into the world of Regency, Christmas, Snowstorms and Romance. Well done Miranda Nelson! I so enjoyed this one.

What a cute, cute book! This Christmas novella was the perfect fit for my day today. I loved following Gilbert and Evelyn from the very beginning. The humor and wit was so fun, and I loved all the fun things they did together. Gilbert is hiding behind his mask of flirtation, while secretly pining for Evelyn. His character was so much fun and I loved seeing the true deeper side of him as well. He treats Evelyn so well, and I was so glad when he was able to crack through her “Gilbert armor” haha
A book I would definitely recommend for your Christmas list! It was such a fast easy read and is sure to make you smile.

Evelyn Wayford and Gilbert Marshall end up snowed in together at a hunting lodge for Christmas. He has secretly been in love with her for a long time, but his family's financial situation makes it impossible for him to court her. He's gifted with charm and covers up his real feelings by flirting with her. She likes him, but hates the flirting. Evelyn has her own secret to keep. She hides the fact that she wears glasses, as well as a more serious one.

Geared more towards young readers. The entertainments they came up with to amuse themselves were rather childish, but she was no bluestocking, and he wasn't a scholar, so their options were limited. 3.5 rounded up.

Her plans for a secure future are thwarted by a snowstorm. While Evelyn is grateful to find shelter from the storm at her Father's hunting lodge, she's very displeased with the presence of her brother's friend. Can they survive the storm with her reputation still in tact? Can they tolerate each other's company enough to survive this unwanted time together? Can she keep her secrets hidden?
This was a clean, sweet book. It was really cute. I liked the characters and thought it was refreshing to have a heroine that wasn't just trying to make a match but that had a reason for doing so. Read it and you'll see.

closed door romance

This Regency Christmas novella wrapped me in cozy candlelit ballrooms and impossible choices from page one. Evelyn’s race to secure a respectable future while battling her own secret made my heart ache and cheer at once, and Gilbert’s steady charm slowly melted my defenses. It is romantic, witty, and full of that warm seasonal sparkle that makes a short read feel completely satisfying.

Delightful

I am enjoying these delightful stories. I especially loved the bantering between Evelyn and Gilbert in this one, and the ribbing between Evelyn's brother Simon and his best friend Gilbert. It took a snowstorm and forced proximity for Evelyn to see the real Gilbert and to fall in love. As always, my favorite parts are the kissing and the HEA.

Romance - Sweet and Clean
Violence - None
Language - Clean

This is a sweet Christmas story. It's not a love-at-first-sight kind of story. (Thankfully) The characters were well written, and the relationship between the 2 characters grows and develops naturally and does not seem forced or rushed at all.
I really enjoyed this one, and I would definitely recommend it.
