The Diabolus Chronicles' penultimate book.

Find the daemon. Bring down the angels. Never give up hope.

Silas and Pitch have been torn apart by the nefarious Morrigan and their maleficium.
Traiterous angels have revealed themselves, and monsters from the past have reemerged.
Time is running out for a daemon held prisoner by those plotting to overthrow the Lord of Arcadia.
A desperate hunt is underway to find Pitch before the angel behind the deadly attack in Sherwood Forest does more than loosen a daemonic tongue.
The existence of the halo is a secret no more. Nor are those who will go to any length to wield its power.
But the Order are keeping Silas on an infuriatingly tight leash. They want him to remain safe in their secure York compound, while the search for Pitch spreads across the British Isles.
Safe is the very last thing Silas wishes to be, while his prince is in the hands of their enemy.
Silas promised Pitch he would never abandon him, never turn his back on all that it meant to love Tobias Astaroth.
Every moment that passes feels like a betrayal of that promise.

When the Order make a shocking decision that renders him more prisoner than Pale Horseman, Silas is tested like never before.
Finding Pitch will push the deadman to his very limits, forcing him to face a truth he's long fought to conceal.
And who will Silas find when he at last reunites with his stolen love?
The daemon he lost in Sherwood Forest, or a tormented soul beyond saving?

Note to self: don’t start any Pitch & Sickle books during the holidays if you don’t want to seem like an antisocial twat 😅

Phew, this series has been just, wow. I’ve tried so many times to describe it but every time I try I get too excited and go off on tangents and rhapsodies that I worry my friends and family just don’t get it. I’m going to try even harder now because The Simurgh just blew me the fuck away! 🤯

The book picks up right where we’d left off after The Herlequin, Pitch has been taken and Silas is beside himself in a fancy house belonging to the Order. Silas isn’t the same man from the first book, he’s stronger than before and after everything he’s ready to go get his man, getting to said man is wasn’t easy (thanks Lucifer/Reginald 😒) but I loved seeing so many of the characters I’ve come to love working together to help Silas reach Pitch. And this book really gives you more from other characters with POVs beyond Silas and Pitch, it added a whole new level to my stress at times but goodness I loved every second of it.

This book gets heavy at times, especially for my sweet baby Pitch 😭 I had some seriously visceral reactions when Gabriel has him, but seeing him get his strength (and sass) back was exactly what I needed. Though somebody needs to get the poor daemon some sweets, a corset, and a bath asap; I really want only good things for him 🥺

I have loved watching Silas come into his own through this series. DK Girl did it right with this series when she made him our jumping point into this world. Bumbling around with Silas as he learned what the fuck was going on, who he was, and what it’s all meant has been the best way I can imagine navigating the series. Now that we’re in book seven Silas has things figured out, he’s fucking Lord Death and all of the big bads he encounters don’t stand a goddamn chance. It’s absolutely brilliant, though I still think he deserves a bit of a break. Seriously, by the end of the book all I could think was “give these men a bath and some sexy times!” because goodness they deserved it after alllll that shit!

I’m already ready to devour the next (and final?) book so that I can restart the entire series again, because this series is easily one that I’ll keep coming back to. This world and these characters have gotten under my skin and I’m not prepared to leave them behind just yet.

Many, many thanks to the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. I’m seriously honored to have gotten a copy of the Simurgh for me to fawn all over ❤️

(sigh) She did it again. Beautiful world-building, interesting characters, and a pair of lovers who just won't quit for each other. At last the 'wildness' within Pitch is revealed. And at last they're together again, along with a motley crew of people who have become their very own found family. I did not see this last part coming. They're such intensely unique people with incredible individuality and opinions and behaviors, including some dislike for others even within their group. You know, sorta like real life. And it was because of those dislikes that I didn't see the found family coming. But here they are. In all their sarcastic, belching, weirdly adorable caring way.

God I love Tyvain! LOL

And there was a new point of view in this book, bringing some added insight to the actions behind certain characters. Absolutely riveting.

D K Girl did it again!
This series is so completely compelling.
The development of not only the two MC of this series but of how each of the characters change not only their loyalties but what becomes important to them as time goes on. The character development is so well thought out.
I also adore the way she weaves historical references and folklore throughout all of her books as well. It’s clear she spends a great deal of time pulling these little nuggets out of time to not only bring her books to a new level but also gives the reader something to study up on whilst waiting for the next release in the series.
I truly believe in my heart that she is the one to beat in this genre!
No one does it better.

Such a great read! I was distraught at the end of The Herlequin, with my beloved Pitch in such grave danger! But this book, which is the chronicle of his rescue and so much more, was such a joy to read. Prince Vassago is such a fantastic character, I can't even begin to describe what he means to me. He is so many contradictions but it all makes perfect sense.
I loved the way this story developed and the revelations regarding the angels and Lucifer himself, and Pitch and the Simurgh.
It was all very mythic and beautifully described. A joy to read over the Christmas Holidays.

Another amazing Pitch and Sickle story! I could not get enough of it and there were so many times I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next, but of course real life and adulting got in my way. I love one another can get me so invested in the outcome of the characters. It makes me so excited for the last story in this series and to see where Pitch and Sickle will end up. I'm hoping in whatever way, even if it isn't the most traditional, that they get some sort of happy moment ending at least. I can't wait!

Another wonderful page-turning instalment of The Diabolus Chronicles. I did suffer through one heartbreaking scene, where I contemplated having stern words with D.K. Girl ;). Instead, I continued my journey with Pitch and Silas into a fantastical world that is so vivid and beautifully envisaged. The world-building in the entire series is phenomenal and one of the reasons I keep coming back for more. That, and my attachment to these wonderfully diverse and enigmatic characters. I can't wait for the final instalment, although I'm not sure my heart can take it.

AND YOU'LL LIVE THE STORY , IF YOU SO DESIRE.

A long journey, well taken. Another chapter to your brain itch. The collection of new "mythos" kept me researching in breaks from the story. I couldn't read it continuously, but had to take periods to ruminate?
The Diabolus Chronicles is near epic in the telling. It takes energy to read, but I suffer from a willingness to suspend disbelief , and therefore must labor with "my friends".
Gifted author.

This is a very good book. One which starts slowly and builds into a story you just cannot stop reading. I liked it a lot, I have to say. I just couldn’t put it down. Is there a book eight I wonder. Highly recommended.
