Elemental Wars

Rate this book
Elemental powers. Deadly games. No escape.

Hayze and Aura have broken free. Only to discover they’re nowhere close to being in control of their fate.

The time has come for them to take down those responsible for the chaos that’s been raining down upon them. But with each Elemental power they learn to harness, Mother Nature steps up her war. And life in the Quadrants is getting even more difficult as the divide between the capitals widens.

Hayze and Aura desperately cling to the only thing that feels real—their love. But how can you love in a world drenched in deceit? How can you trust in a Game you’re destined to lose?

And how can you hold on when everything around you is falling apart?

Heidi Catherine writes fantasy and dystopian novels, which gives her a chance to escape into worlds vastly different to her own life in the burbs. While she quite enjoys killing her characters (especially the awful ones), she promises she’s far better behaved in real life.

Other than writing and reading, Heidi’s current obsessions include watching far too much reality TV with the excuse that it’s research for her books.

I can not wait until book 4! This series really messes with the characters. It reminds me of Peeta "Real or not real" only it's happening at the moment. Who knows whats real at this point. I wouldn't trust the leaders as far as I could throw them, but they do talk a good game. Hayze is a good guy and could easily become book boyfriend material if more people read these.

Rush right through

These two authors are the best at this genre in my opinion and can't write fast enough for me! This story continues to surprise me and I go deeper into each character and even felt a tear come down my face (wait what?). Can't wait for the final book in the series.

This is book three of the Elemental Games series and the contestants from each of the Quadrants have been split apart and only Hayze and Aura, the Fire Element pair are together at last, along with Pace, one of the Water Element pair, as Aura chose to end the Elemental Games. But what awaits them on the other side of the walls is armed guards and drones, waiting to force them back into the leader’s sick game. They have all been through so much as they battled through each of the deadly scenarios n the games, learning to use their elements, most of them anyway. They have all died and watched loved ones die, in this cruel virtual world they were forced into. The four leaders represent each of the elements and quadrants, Adalan, Infernos, Cyclonis and Oceania, want them to pledge allegiance to them and do what they were born to do. As we find out later there have been many previous Elemental Games, but this is the first one in which any of the contestants have managed to use their elements. The leaders say they have won the games, but fail to tell them what comes next, no matter what they ask. All they tell them is that they are the solution to humanity’s survival!

They refuse to do anything without knowing what the leaders want from them and decide to fight their way out. Some other people from the Alliance, that wants war with the leaders and the elite, try to help, but are poorly matched against the leaders armed guards and drones. It is a good diversion at least and they manage to get away and find themselves within the Sect, where Pace wants them to find Tempo, the other water element member. They don’t want to leave anyone behind, it’s time for all the Elements to be united and they will be stronger because of it. After they find Tempo, they will need to locate Jewel, the remaining Earth Element member after Geo died, then the Air Element pair of Skylus and Atmos. When they come across a very alive and uninjured Rateen, who works for the leaders, they realise they are in fact, still in the game, where none of them can really die! They may have managed to escape their pods, where their real bodies are kept, but the leaders are still manipulating everything that surrounds them and what they come up against. Once they have Tempo, they break out into the Terra Quadrant, still being pursued, finding assistance and also betrayal. They also rejoin with Skylus and Atmos, who had been hiding out there. Only Calla, the Earth trade master can assist them in finding the location of Jewel’s pod, somewhere in the trees of Terra.

But conditions change rapidly, shortly after the Alliance appear once more against, as a large group of guards also arrive, with the earth moving below their feet and torrential rain beginning to pour down, causing a landslide and multiple deaths! It seems Mother Nature is at war with the Quadrants and soon all will be destroyed. Each quadrant faces difficulties with the changing weather, with arid conditions in one, to wild fires and sandstorms, flooding and earthquakes, and water everywhere with icebergs creating danger, in others. The leaders have promised the people that the group of eight teens are the Elemental Solution, who will stop all the excessive weather events that plague each quadrant. This is the solution they invented the games for decades ago and finally they have found some teens able to harness the elements as hoped, before their whole world is destroyed. No matter how hard they fight to get out of the game, the leaders have been planning every possible move and outcome for decades and they are soon trapped in a room, all but one of them, with the four leaders who want to force them to their side and control them for their own ends. The leaders want them to go back into the games until all eight have proven they have elemental powers or not. Those that don’t are killed! It is time for the teens to turn the tables on the leaders, but they soon find what they faced is not something they want to make another suffer, even if they were the ones who made them all suffer in the games. They may have to accept an offer, but on their own terms this time, as they hold the upper hand. If their world, their loved ones and all four quadrants and capitals are to survive, they must unite and use their elements to tame Mother Nature once and for all. If not, one of them will survive much longer.

I can’t wait for the finale of this series to find out what they do next, whether they can get the leaders and the rebels to work together for survival of all, or if the leaders will stab them in the back yet again. Aura and Hayze are free, or are they? They are at the Sect and have faced down the Sect leaders and said that they are done with the Game. But not everything is as it seems. They will face deceit and lies and betrayal. Not everyone will make it through and when they discover the truth of what is really happening will they be able to summon the courage to face it? Twists and turns abound, like the wildest rollercoaster ride ever. Looking forward to the conclusion.

We are back in book three and Aura and Hayze may have broken free but we still find ourselves on this out of control thrilling rollercoaster ride! The struggle between right and wrong battles on as the deadly games proceed and the secrets, lies and deceit continue. Twists and turns keep us on our toes and glued to the pages as these authors do what they do best and have us hooked and unable to stop reading. A fantastic addition to this incredible series!

They need to escape the game, and end the torture of it's struggle, but what will the cost be? They have been through so much, and bonds have been formed, can these bonds be broken by the Sect leaders? I loved this addition to the series and the challenges, dangers and emotions they face. I look forward to the conclusion and finding ou those remaining answers.

This is a fast paced story, full of twists and turns.
Is also full of hope and love, and in the same time, full of hurt and despair.
As we get closer to the conclusion of this story, we see that not all are what they seem.
In fact a lot of things are not as expected. And a lot of questions arise.
This story get better and better!

Elemental Wars is the third book in the Elemental Games series. These books really need to be read in order or they will not make much sense.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series but was extremely disappointed in this book. It quickly became repetitive and almost a rerun of the previous books. It does have some good moments but mostly I skimmed as it was so predictable.
I hope this is a blip and the next book lives up to the promise of the first two.

Ever hear the phrase “caught between a rock and a hard place” well that’s what Hayze, Aura and the rest of the Elementals find themselves. The struggle between right and wrong surrounds the teens as they struggle to end the games that also won’t doom everyone they love. Heidi and Tamar are the ultimate dystopian fantasy writers and they never disappoint. I absolutely love this book and series.

Aura, Hayze, Pace, Atmos, and Skylus search for the pods where Tempo and Jewel are being held after breaking out of the simulated games. Their way isn't easy. This story has plenty of action and violence, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

I don’t know how Heidi and Tamar keep doing this!!! Every book they write has such incredible & unique twists and turns. You never see them coming and you’re left on the edge of your seat with your mouth wide open. This book was so good and that ending. The next one is going to be very interesting. I can’t wait to delve into it.

Another addictive dystopian thriller from Heidi and Tamar in this fabulous series. It's full speed and totally absorbing from the opening chapter and the pace doesn't lessen! There are some really unexpected and clever twists, and I'm already eager to read the final instalment!

after reading the first 2 at a snails pace, I figured I'd finish the series, but no. I DNF this one at 17%. It's going nowhere. The plot was lost a long time ago.
