3.5⭐️ a quick and heartfelt read. Was really good and a lot of parts stuck with me. However, a lot of the story didn’t apply to me so that’s why only 3.5 was very good tho

The Metamorphosis of You is a collection of poems divided into four phases, resembling the four phases of a butterfly before it has the ability to fly.
I would recommend this book to anyone going though a rough break up, but also to those who have never felt enough, to the people that have always felt like they had to do more, the person who has always felt like they had to become another person in order to be loved by someone else.
I resonate with a lot of the poetry in this collection, and loved it so much, it was beautifully written.
“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞, 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦, 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧.”

To heal. To change. To grow into the more healed version of yourself. I absolutely loved this book. It resonated with me so much, and I recommend to anyone who feels like they’re ready to change into a butterfly, but fears that they never will. It’s never to late to heal, and to allow yourself to do so.

1.5 ⭐ "will you love me when my flowers start to rot when my lakes turn to ice and my roots begin to freeze will you love me when I'm cold when my hands begin to shake and my voice starts to tremble
will you love me in the winter when nights grow long and the sun is rarely seen will you love me even when I struggle to see that spring is just around the corner" this poem was the only thing saving this book from having just one star.
Every other poem was mediocre and very simple, there was plenty of words misspelled. When I read poetry I want my soul to weep because of the beauty of it not because of the grammar 😭it felt like she was just stating facts instead of writing poetry
"You deserve a healthy love
A stable love
A gentle love
A grounding love
A comforting love
A healing love
A calming love
An abundant love
I hope you find it"
Just not my type of poetry, if you like uplifting and healing statements this is for you.

"isn't it ironic
that when you were gasping for air
because you felt trapped by my presence
I was gasping for air
because without you
I could not even breathe" (pp.33)
----
"I had so much love to give
when you said you didn't want it
I was not sure what to do
but then, a voice told me
"give it to the one who needs it the most"
so I gave it to myself" (pp. 57)
----
"I paused for a moment
and thought about the way I loved them
and suddenly, I realised I was proof
my very existence was proof that
the love I sought existed
that it was possible to find unconditional love
because I myself loved unconditionally" (pp. 101)

I don’t know if it’s just that I’m not really a poetry girlie or whether I’ve just yet to find the type that truly speaks to me but this was just meh. I didn’t find the writing anything to write home about. The one plus I can give it is that it was definitely much better than Rupi Kaur’s work which I read a few years ago. Funnily enough, the introduction stuck with me more than any of the poems:
The butterfly goes through
four stages in life
and it is only during the last one
it has the ability to fly
Maybe this is how it works
for us humans too

One of the better poetry collections dealing with heartbreak that I've read. It was original, had fine metaphors, and deep reflections within it.
Compared to some other books concerning the same topic, you can tell that this is the authors' own experiences, and reflections that are written into poetry. It seems well thought through and has a fine way of dividing the poems into different phases of grieving.
Relatable and beautiful. One of the books I will return to in the future.

Amazing book I feel like this book has answered so many questions and feelings I have in my life especially pertaining to heartbreak. Relationships can be so complex and difficult and unfortunately there isn’t a perfect guide on how to navigate through it but there are people like Susanne who create content that can help you feel seen and understood. Many happy years while reading. Beautiful book ❤️.

Definitely would recommend this book to someone going through heartbreak or something similar
It highlighted the different phases of heartbreak and honestly?
It made me feel like my feelings were valid and everything I was going through was normal
It made me know that healing isn’t a linear process but it’ll definitely come in the end

3.5 ⭐️ rounded up. I thought this was a great book of poems and there were so many meaningful ones that stuck out. However I don’t think I was expecting it to all be about relationships and as someone who has never been in one I just couldn’t relate to much of the collection. Definitely going to be something I save in case I need to revisit these poems one day though.

3.5 🌟
I think this book would be amazing for people dealing with a challenging breakup, or lingering feelings related to lost love. As that doesn't really apply much to me, I didn't find it immensely profound, but inspiring in its own way. Quick but good read.

I always catch myself turning to poetry, especially ones that help me find some comfort in sitting with lingering/unresolved feelings - this was a short and sweet read. Simple yet beautifully raw. I really enjoyed it!

I don’t normally read poetry but this book resonated with me in a way nothing ever have. I feel like it healed somepart of me i had long forgotten. I recommend this book for people letting go and fearing to gang on again.

Sweet and Simple
Although the message was powerful, this book of poems was easy to read. It allows the reader to overcome heartbreak and find a wholesome love for one’s self and for other.

I think it is always brave to put yourself out to the world, especially through poetry, that being said, I didn’t really feel anything from any of these poems, this is kind like the definition of ‘poetry’ you’d see on instagram or Pinterest.

Been going through a rough heartbreak and this book helped a lot! Recommend to anyone who is going through heartbreak or has been heartbroken before.

it's really important to know the difference between "then" and "than" if you're going publish a book

Stage 4: the butterfly was the best part! This I feel like would be good to read for someone who is going through a breakup or challenge in life.

Beautiful
The honest and whimsical journey of love, the structure of each poem was a delight to read and adapted perfectly to match the tone of each stage.

I am too apathetic for heartbreak and romantic relationship kind of love. I might appreciate this more if I were young and dumb in love

Awful. It’s made up of shallow, Instagram-style quotes rather than real poems, with no depth or need for thought or analysis. Fans of Rupi Kaur would enjoy it, but I found it lazy.
