A really cute Christmas story when Evergreen Winter swaps her ramshackle caravan for a Christmas Tree cottage. It does not stop there because her temporary role of Mrs Santa Claus thrusts her into the path of romance alongside a reluctant but dashing Mr Claus.
Yes a lot of twinkle twinkle and full of Christmas cheer with a very predictable but satisfying ending and a lovely journey to take you there.

Stunning... phenomenal... very Christmassy... absolutely amazing ... didn't want to put it down... unable to think in full sentences it's that good... loved it so so much... .gutted the series is at an end.... utterly brilliant.... one of my favourite all time Holly Martin books.
I couldn't get enough of this book, when I wasn't reading I was thinking of the characters, and I just loved every single word of it.
Holly Martin is a master of the Christmas romance - this is full of festive cheer, festive feeling, had me longing to be in Christmas Tree cottage alongside Santa and Mrs Claus, as they had breakfast with and did bed time stories with the visiting children. I wanted to go to the Christmas market, and to ride Ever's horse, and to just be in Wishing Wood even more so than the previous two books.
Oh this can be read as a standalone but then you would be missing out on two other equally fabulous book, as this is a series to devour - each focusing on a different brother.
It was finally Heath's turn and from the moment Evergreen shows up, you just get an inkling of a feeling and I loved the pair of them any time they were in the same scene. And Evergreen's backstory is just heart-breaking, while Heath certainly became my new book-boyfriend. I fell for him completely but then again all of the brothers are fabulous.
This is just all around a book that if you love a romance, or Christmas, or Holly Martin, that you will want to add your your Christmas list this year. It's warm, it's romantic there is great chemistry and I loved hearing about Ever's job too, and all about her cloak and caravan.
Also really enjoyed being able to get the latest update from Meadow, Bear and Star, Indigo, River and Tierra, as well as Amelia - having loved getting to know them throughout the series, and I just feel so at home with all of these characters.
If you can't tell I absolutely loved this, which may be an understatement and am already looking forward to reading Holly Martin's 2023 releases!

Wat heb ik weer ontzettend genoten van dit boek! Misschien is dit wel mijn favoriete deel uit de serie, maar ik zit dan ook helemaal in de kerstmood. Dit boek heeft daar zeker aan bijgedragen. Vanaf het begin zit de kerstsfeer erin: Holly Martin is goed in de omgeving tot leven brengen, waardoor je zelf het idee kreeg door de heerlijke boomhutten te lopen, feestelijk versierd met alle lichtjes en kerstversiering.
Dit boek gaat over de oudste Brookfield van de drie broers: Heath. Zijn twee jongere broers, River en Bear, hebben afgelopen jaar de liefde van hun leven gevonden en zijn inmiddels gelukkig getrouwd. Maar Heath heeft het geluk helaas nog niet mogen vinden. Totdat Evergreen Winter het erf op rijdt en zijn hart in vuur en vlam zet. Evergreen is een heerlijk personage met een enorm warm hart. De jonge vrouw in de reizende pipowagen zet direct al zo’n cozy beeld neer dat je niet anders kan dan haar leuk vinden (pluspunt, ze is enorm fantasy-fanaat en meerdere verwijzingen naar Lord of the Rings en Eragon maakten mijn fantasy-hart ook gelukkig).
Zoals ik niet beter weer van Holly, hebben haar personages ook altijd een diepere laag: een verhaal om te vertellen. Zowel Evergreen als Heath hebben een verleden die te maken heeft met verlies en verlaten worden door ouders, waardoor ze elkaar ook goed kunnen begrijpen en tevens elkaar kunnen steunen. Dit zorgt voor een bijzondere band tussen de twee.
Alle kerstactiviteiten in dit boek maken het vervolgens helemaal af en zorgen ervoor dat dit verhaal je het perfecte, hartverwarmende kerstgevoel geeft. Ik heb enorm genoten!

Dit verhaal is het derde deel in de Whising Wood serie, en persoonlijk is dit by far mijn favoriete deel.
De kerstsferen van dit verhaal hebben hier zeker aan bijgedragen, maar ook de personages in dit deel vond ik een stukje krachtiger.
De voorgaande delen hebben we gelezen vanuit Bear, River, Indigo en Meadow.
Nu is het de beurt aan Heath en Evergreen.
Heath is door de voorgaande delen al een wat bekender personage, maar Evergreen is een volledig nieuw personage.
Heath komt in de voorgaande delen ook al regelmatig naar voren, maar in dit deel kreeg zijn personage echt de volle aandacht.
Ik vond Heath als hoofdpersonage een erg prettig personage met goede karaktereigenschappen.
In de voorgaande delen heb ik hem wel wat beter leren kennen, dus zijn karakter was niet helemaal vreemd, maar in dit deel werd voornamelijk zijn verleden nog wat beter uitgelicht en verklaarde dit op bepaalde vlakken ook wel zijn manier van handelen.
Evergreen is als nieuwe, tijdelijke bewoonster van Wishing Wood ook een nieuw personage in deze serie.
In het begin moet ik even wennen aan haar naam, omdat ik haar naam af en toe verwarde met Everdeen, zoals Katniss Everdeen uit The Hunger Games.
Haar personage kreeg voor mijn gevoel een goede introductie in het verhaal, waardoor ik snel aan haar gewent was en ze ook een prominente rol aan nam in het verhaal.
Ook wordt er net zoals bij Heath ook dieper ingegaan op haar verleden, welke ik kort gezegd vrij indrukwekkend vond. Verder vond ik Evergreen als personage lief, gevoelig en meegaand.
Ik vond dat beide personages geschreven zijn met veel diepgang wat ook weer een positieve invloed heeft gehad op mijn kijk op dit verhaal.
Over de schrijfstijl heb ik eigenlijk voornamelijk alleen maar lovende woorden.
Door in te gaan op de verledens van de personages heeft Holly er meteen voor gezorgd dat dit verhaal de diepte in ging en dat het niet een simpel, oppervlakkig verhaal bleef.
Je leest dit verhaal vanuit het vertelperspectief, geschreven vanuit Heath en Evergeen.
Dit is een prettig en afwisselend tempo geschreven, waardoor je situaties telkens vanuit twee oogpunten bekijkt. Dit gaf telkens een interessante blik op het verhaal.
Het verhaal gaat dus zeker de diepte in, maar het is wel vlot en goed samenhangend geschreven
Hierdoor leest het verhaal zeer gemakkelijk weg, en heb ik het ook binnen een paar uur uitgelezen.
En ja, het woord “kerst” zit al in de titel, en dan verwacht ik ook wel dat het thema kerst genoeg aan bod komt. Dat was gelukkig ook zeker zo.
Aan kerstbomen, kerstfilms, lekkernijen en nog meer kerstgerelateerde dingen ontbrak het zeker niet.
Door de gedetailleerde beschrijving van de omgeving waande ik me ook direct in de kerstsferen,

Jag älskar att vara tillbaka bland trädkojorna. Men mina förväntningar grusas lite denna gång, tyvärr. Det är för mycket påpekande om att Evergreen (den nya karaktären) och Heath hae haft en fruktansvärd barndom, men att de kan välja att leva ett anna liv.
Jag älskar också Evergreen som karaktär, ja, förutom tjatet om barndomen
Men jag gillar hur hon är annorlunda, udda, men ändå passar perfekt i sammanhanget. Särskilt när det gäller allt juligt. Jultemat i boken är starkt, mysigt och roligt.
Tierra och Star är lika sköna som tidigare med sitt raka, oblyga sätt.
Har du läst de andra två delarna i serien ska du absolut läsa även denna. Den är mysig och fin, trots allt och man vill ju veta hur det går för alla.
Betyget är en mycket stark 3:a.

The Wishing Wood – what a totally stunning setting, the tree houses and the sparkling lights, and I’m so glad I chose to visit at Christmas. As I haven’t read the earlier books, I didn’t know about the dynamics of the extended and eclectic family who own it – but as Evergreen found herself wrapped in the warmth of their welcome and embrace, I knew I was going to enjoy every moment of being part of it for a while too.
Evergreen arrives at the Wishing Wood, in her caravan home drawn by Clydesdale horse Thunder, to take on the role of Mrs Christmas during their celebrations – and to use her skills as a make-up artist to turn Heath Brookfield into a suitably convincing and jolly Santa. Family life is something she’s not used to – her own life experience has made her wary of letting in anyone she might become fond of – but this one draws her in from the very beginning. And when her dilapidated caravan becomes impossible to live in, she agrees to move into Christmas Tree Cottage for a while – warm and dry, sleeping in a comfortable bed for a change. And she finds herself increasingly drawn to the lovely Heath – until she begins to wonder whether their growing feelings for each other are real, or whether he might just see her as another of the charity cases that he frequently takes on.
The chemistry between this couple is exceptional – we see it from both their viewpoints and get to know both of them really well, to take them both to our heart, and as things begin to heat up (to a degree that, for me, was just perfectly judged) I became entirely invested in wanting a happy ending for them both. But if the romance is beautifully handled, so is the family side of things – I never thought I’d want to be part of a Christmas Hullabaloo, but this one was absolutely wonderful. The different relationships are fascinating – had I read the first two books, I might have found getting a handle on them a tad easier, but the author unobtrusively and very quickly brought me up to speed – and, rather unusually for me, I particularly loved the very real and endearing younger family members.
And the warmth the whole family radiates throws into sharp relief everything Evergreen has lost – a really emotional story that sometimes moved me to tears, slowly revealed, but with hope that the future might be rather brighter if she’s willing to make the right choices. But the whole book is filled with joy too, with love and warmth and kindness – along with plenty of the loveliest touches of humour, often with the children at its centre. On the Christmassiness scale, this one’s right at the top end – with a touch of real magic at times helping the characters find their way when they’re really in need of a helping hand.
So, another author whose future books I really must add to my reading list – this one really was just gorgeous. Do you still have space on your Christmas reading list? If so, this is a book I’d wholeheartedly recommend (oh, go on, spoil yourself – try the whole series!).

There is something magical about Holly’s books. When life has you in a bit of a doldrum they pick you up and show you that people can be kind, warm and caring. In The Christmas Tree Cottage it is Heath and his family that embody that as they show Evergreen that not everybody let’s you down and some people will help you without requiring anything in return. They just do it out of the goodness of their hearts.
The appearance of the legendary white stag gave this a touch of enchantment and the bedroom noise descriptions from the children and the interference of Amelia added the humour that I love so much.
Evergreen was a wonderful character and the chemistry between her and Heath was hot enough to melt snow and steam up my glasses. All the characters from the previous two books are also featured and it was lovely to see all their story arcs completed in the final book. Although I will be sad to let them all go along with the very special setting of Wishing Wood.

Holly Martin really knows how to do a Christmas book! Not only is this book the third in my favourite Holly Martin series so far, it also made me feel like I was wrapped up in my own Christmas bubble.
The Wishing Wood series has the most lovable characters slotted into the most lovable setting. Can I please go and live in one of the tree houses?? Or become part of this family?? No? I guess I’ll have to settle with reading these books over and over again then.
I felt all kinds of festive warmth reading this and I’ll bet that anyone who picks up this book feels exactly the same.

Holly Martin has been a favourite author for many years now, and I love Christmas books, so I snapped up The Christmas Tree Cottage as soon as I could.
It’s just wonderful to return to Wishing Wood again. It’s such a beautiful and magical location. This time, the Christmassy atmosphere was palpable right from the start.
I loved Evergreen Winters from the very first moment she appeared on the page. I love her hair, and her caravan, and her horse, and who she is. Heath is also a lovely character, who we’ve obviously met in the previous books in the series. It’s great to finally get to know him better. I loved the plot too, the way they all just accept Evergreen into their family. And I love Star so much, she’s brilliant!
Overall, this was such a wonderful, heartwarming, and Christmassy romance. Like a big warm hug. I can’t wait to read Holly’s next book, The Little Beach Hut Hotel.

Wat moet ik nog zeggen over de boeken van Holly Martin? Ik houd gewoon van deze fijne, beeldende schrijfstijl en waan me steeds weer in een sprookje als ik haar boeken lees. Hoewel het deel drie in de serie wederom zoetsappig is stoorde ik mij daar absoluut niet aan. Het was wederom een heerlijk weg te lezen verhaal met de nodige humor.

Gewoon heel fijn om weer lekker terug te zijn in wishing Wood. Het derde deel dat gaat over de derde broer Heath. Het speelt zich weer af in het sprookjes achtige wishing Wood. Dit keer speelt het zich af in de dagen rondom kerst.

"Julmys på Wishing wood" av Holly Martin utgiven av Lavender lit förlag. Åtta dagar före julafton kommer Evergreen med sin fina clydesdale häst Thunder, som drar hennes röda gamla cirkusvagn, fram till Wishing wood. Heith Brookfield, den sista brodern som är singel, möter upp henne. Heith blir förvånad, då han förstår att han med hjälp av henne, ska klä ut sig till tomtefar och Evergreen ska vara tomtemor. Evergreen arbetar nämligen som makeup artist. De ska utklädda träffa de olika barnen som befinner sig på den mysiga semesteranläggningen vid några tillfällen fram till jul. Efter jul är det tänkt att Evergreen ska resa vidare. Men ju mer Heith träffar Evergreen, ju mer vill han att hon ska stanna. Han försöker därför involvera Evergreen i sitt liv så mycket han kan. Allt för att få henne att stanna och se om deras förhållande kan utvecklas till något mer. Dock är Evergreens förflutna lite komplicerat och hon är rädd för att inte få förhållandet att fungera. Ska Evergreen ändå ge Heith en chans trots allt, och låta julmagin göra resten?

Man önskar verkligen att man var en del av den mysiga familjen Brookfield. Äkta julkänsla infinner sig medan man läser, och lägger sig som en varm filt runt en. Författaren lyckas få mig förtrollad med de målande miljöbeskrivningarna och den kärlek de olika familjemedlemmarna delar mellan varandra. Där kommer då Evergreen med sitt bagage, och känner sig för första gången på länge involverad i en familj, vilket så klart skrämmer henne. Men den stiliga och charmiga Heith, och en magisk och vacker vit hjort, visar henne att det är dags för en förändring. Hoppa upp i mysigaste soffhörnan med en kopp choklad, läs och njut! Denna ljuvliga smällkaramell får ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️/5.

This is book 3 of 3 to the Wishing Wood series. Whenever I pick up a Holly Martin book, I always know that I am in for a treat. Her characters are delightful gems, always well written and just heart warming. The sort of book you can curl up with and forget about your own life worries.
Book 3 focuses on Evergreen and Heath, a well as Heath’s daughter Star whom we met in previous books and is also Meadow’s daughter. It was another delightful heart warming story from start to finish. Lots of drama going on as always, some of which truly makes one laugh out loud. Holly really does know how to write a story. We also got reacquainted with all of the other characters from books 1 and 2, which I love when an author does that, as it’s nice to know what they are up to and it means I don’t have to say good bye to them just yet.
I am sad that this is the last book to the 3 book series, but it has been a truly wonderful series, have loved every moment of it.
The narrator Penny Andrews is one of my fave narrators, as she always does a brilliant job, in bringing all of the characters alive, making each one unique in their own way.

This is book #3 in the Wishing Wood series, although it can easily be read as a standalone book. This series focusses on three brothers – River, Bear and Heath – with this book focussing on Heath’s story. I’ve read the previous two books and found the setting of a luxury tree top holiday village called Wishing Wood absolutely delightful! We return to Wishing Wood on the approach to Christmas, and the delights of grottos, Santa and Mrs Claus and Christmas activities makes you feel so festive – it really is the perfect Christmas read!
As well as meeting characters from the previous book, we also meet Evergreen Winters who arrives in her rickety caravan being pulled by her Clydesdale horse, Thunder. What an entrance, and she certainly makes an impression on Heath, the only one of the brothers who is still single! I really liked Evergreen’s character! She was so different, confident and fun, but she also had a sad background story which did tug at the heartstrings throughout the storyline. Of course, there is a romantic interest for Heath, and this wouldn’t be a Holly Martin book if there weren’t some hot and steamy sex scenes to warm you up!!
The book flowed along at a lovely pace. The location is just perfect, and I found myself really wishing I could stay in one of those treetop houses! It felt super Christmassy with all the fun, games, food and family times, and all of the characters added to the delight of a heart-warming storyline. Sadly, it’s the last book of the series and I really shall miss my trips to Wishing Wood! I’ll also miss all of the characters, who I’ve become quite fond of over the last three books – especially Amelia, who has always been my favourite! What a wonderful book to complete the series though! Loved it!!

In het derde betoverende deel van de Wishing Wood-serie gaat het verhaal verder met Evergreen Winter, een zelfstandige vrouw die haar dagen doorbrengt in een rode caravan, voortgetrokken door haar trouwe paard, Thunder. Als ze een tijdelijke klus aanneemt om de vrouw van de kerstman te spelen, wordt haar wereld op zijn kop gezet door Heath, de knappe maar buitengewoon lieve man die de rol van de Kerstman speelt.
De chemie tussen Evergreen en Heath is voelbaar, en je merkt al snel de vonken die tussen hen overspringen. Het is dan ook heerlijk om over de dynamiek tussen Evergreen en Heath te lezen. Maar wat dit boek bijzonder maakt, is de strijd die Evergreen voert om zichzelf te beschermen. Het wordt al vrij snel duidelijk dat Evergreen het nodige heeft meegemaakt en haar hart maar al te graag wil beschermen tegen pijn. Haar innerlijke strijd maakt het verhaal realistisch en wekt mijn nieuwsgierigheid naar hoe het zal aflopen. Heath daarentegen is zijn charmante zelf; hij is een liefdevolle en zorgzame man die altijd klaarstaat voor de mensen die hem dierbaar zijn.
Ook in dit derde deel leer ik nog steeds nieuwe dingen over Wishing Wood. Het is een betoverende plek, en zoals alle evenementen die rond kerst worden beschreven, zou ik willen dat ik er zelf naartoe kon gaan. Dit deel heeft een feestelijk tintje, vol met festiviteiten en heerlijk eten. Dit verhaal was weer net zo gemakkelijk te volgen als de voorgaande delen en zorgt ervoor dat je meteen in de kerststemming bent. Mijn vriend merkte ook op dat ik het hele boek met een glimlach op mijn gezicht heb gelezen; het was dan ook een heerlijk verhaal om in weg te duiken!
De kerstboom vol wensen is een prachtig verhaal vol liefde en zelfontwikkeling, met een vleugje humor. Het boek brengt je alvast in de kerstsferen, maar je zou er ook op andere momenten van het jaar van kunnen genieten. Een absolute aanrader voor iedereen die van kerstromans houdt!

It was lovely to return to Wishing Wood and this visit was Heath’s story. This book was brimming over with fairy-style tree houses and Christmas Tree Cottage sounded magical. When Santa and Mrs Christmas can’t make it to Wishing Wood they send their friend Evergreen in their place, when she meets Heath she is immediately attracted to him! Beautiful, feel good and uplifting read with fabulous characters.

I want to start off by admitting that I haven’t read the two previous books in this series, but I don’t think that matters as this can be read as a standalone.
I was looking for an easy, fun Christmas read to kickstart the season and in a sense this book delivered that. But I didn’t enjoy it.
Almost immediately (we’re talking a page or two in) I felt like I’d picked the wrong book, but I had to keep going because I don’t DNF things.
The writing style really irked me, it felt as though it was written for children. Now, I’m all for an easy read, but when one sentence goes on and on and on and the dialogue seems forced it really puts me off. If that’s your thing, you’ll probably love this, it’s just not my cup of tea.
The characters names were fun but again seemed a little too much when paired with the over simplified writing style. It was giving children’s book.
This is totally personal preference, and is often the case in a seasonal book, but I really didn’t like the insta love trope. The book is set over a few days so it just didn’t sit right with me at all. Again, this added to the forced dialogue issue as the characters were just info dumping, revealing out of character things, jumping from one emotion to the next, etc.
I think the book had really good potential, and the storyline itself had some really nice parts, but it needed to be set out over a longer time period (perhaps even just Thanksgiving to Christmas) to make it flow and seem a little more natural.
I did love the idea of the Christmas treehouses though, and the backstory of the characters definitely added a nice touch of emotion.
Other readers have said that they felt this book didn’t live up to their expectations of this author, so I’ll definitely read another book of theirs in the future and hope they’re right!
All in all, a nice book to read over the holiday season, and perhaps one to read after you’ve finished a heavy book series and want to give your brain a festive break. 🎄🧑🎄

De kerstboom vol wensen volgt, zoals elk boek in de Wishing Wood-serie, een nieuw koppel en dit deel gaat over Evergreen en Heath, die dit jaar samen voor kerstman en -vrouw spelen.
Ik hou enorm van de setting in de gehele Wishing Wood-serie: een vakantiepark vol magisch-uitziende boomhutten waar iedereen van droomt om een nacht in door te brengen. Toch wist ik van te voren al dat dit boek niet mijn favoriet zou zijn. Ik heb het namelijk niet zo op Holly Martins schrijfstijl. Naar mijn mening gebruikt ze veel te veel dialoog, zonder de emoties van de karakters mooi te beschrijven. Daarnaast irriteerde ik mij eraan dat Heath en Evergeen elkaar pas 30 minuten kennen, maar meteen al hun gevoelens en geheimen op tafel leggen. Sorry, maar ik vind dat echt totaal niet realistisch. Zelfs niet voor een cliché kerstboek.
Wat ik wél erg leuk vond aan De kerstboom vol wensen zijn natuurlijk de kerst-vibes. Het verhaal zit vol met kerstvreugde, kerstig eten, kerstige activiteiten en magische sneeuw. Die dingen zorgden voor een aantal schattige momenten tussen Heath en Evergreen, maar ook tussen de hele Brookfield familie. Ondanks mijn kleine irritaties toverde dat toch een glimlach op mijn gezicht.

I've never read anything by this author before so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was slightly disappointed. It just didn't grab me. It all felt a bit rushed and unbelievable at times.
I will say that I mainly read fantasy but I am trying to branch out so I may not be the intended market.
That being said, I did like the setting and some of the characters did grow on me.
