I enjoyed this story with the mixture of the treat to Pearl, the clues for the case about who shot Mason and why plus the mess of the relationship between Gideon and Pearl. I loved Pearl who was feisty and actually made some very acute observations which I thought showed the men up. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MF story with a little mature content at the end.

"The truth is, everything has changed"
This is my favourite of the series so far, Pearl and Gideon have lots of chemistry. And yes, there is baggage, pain and maybe even trust issues, but there is still an undeniable chemistry and a hunger for forgiveness, a need to have the future they planned and hoped for.
Pearl was the one to walk, but she is remorseful, regretted the decision almost immediately and has lived with the guilt of hurting them both for years, her openness about her mistake makes it very difficult to hold it against her. She is kind, thoughtful, respectful and genuinely nice, making it easy to like her, she also has a unique and fantastic way of looking at puzzles and the case. She offers up numerous unexplored angles for Gideon and Jasper, earning the respect of his team as well as his love and eventually his trust.
Together they get many of the answers they have been struggling to uncover, but equally these answers lead to numerous more questions......

Surprises, twists, seconds chances as the investigative team continues to look into Mason's shooting. Each book has a different couple as the underlying thread is about Mason.This is Gideon's and Pearls tale. I like Pearls intelligence and compassion. She is perfect for Gideon. This is book three in Dale Mayer's highly enjoyable "Man Down" series, each has a standalone story with a theme running through the series.
When physiotherapist Pearl Laverne returned to Coronado she was devastated to find that Gideon had been shipped overseas. Pearl and Gideon had been loved up for a long time and talking about their future together when Pearl, with no idea why, got cold feet and ran away, without even a goodbye, Pearl immediately regretted her decision and returned to make amends but was it too late ?
Gideon Warwick was part of Mason's hand picked Military Investigation Team, Mason, the leader revered by all the SEALs, had been shot, Tesla, his beloved wife refused to leave his side. When Gideon received a call from colleague, Jasper Mackintosh, asking for help Gideon was on the next plane back to Coronado, the last person that he expected to see was the woman who broke his heart five years ago.
Pearl wasn't sure whether their relationship could be rekindled but when she was in trouble, Gideon was automatically the first person that she turned to and Gideon, who, even though he needed answers, had never stopped loving Pearl, and was quick to go to her aid.
Pearl, through no fault of her own, was having problems at work making her ready to throw in the towel , when disturbing things started happening at her home, Gideon and Jasper began to wonder if it was anyway connected to Mason's shooting, if so how and why ? and who was behind it ? much to Gideons delight, Pearl was able to add her lateral view to the case.
This is a suspense filled, action packed story with plenty of twists and turns and of course a reawakening romance.

Gideon & Pearl
This new series is so great! So far, each book is packed full of mystery, danger, intrigue, and of course, romance.
The problem solving and ideas are interesting. The danger and suspense is throughout the entire story. Deep down, we have the focus on Mason’ recovery & Tesla’s pregnancy, but there are sevral secondary issues at play which makes this even more interesting. I just love this storyline with Gideon, while secretly heartbroken over Pearl’s abandonment, he is still open to continuing their relationship, but more on a level of growth since they were together last time.
Pearl, on the other hand, is still struggling with her own feelings and past behavior. She doesn’t feel worthy of Gideon and continuing a relationship with him. She doesn’t immediately share with him all the things she was going through immediately after and the years following her leaving. All-in-all, they still have feelings for each other and don’t know what they are going to do about it all. Confuse that with the shenanigans going on with the investigation and some things, like their feelings, have to be put aside before they can really look at a relationship.
This is a great page-turner and full of suspense. I look forward to the next installment in this series to keep this great thing going.

A mistake is not always unreversable it's possible to earn trust back and have a relationship better and stronger than before, sometimes the first time isn't quite the right one. Pearl isn't having a great time at work and after a really bad day all she wants is to go home, only something is going on there that has her calling for help. Gideon is the latest investigater brought in to help with Mason's case, however he also runs into someone from his past. I loved the complexities of this and how it twists and revolves, crossover points and some insightive thoughts actually start to make sense and progress. Imaginative, interesting, exciting and suspenseful plot with characters to get to know and like or those just the opposite. It's fabulous, fast and gripping right along with a rekindled romance to give my heartstrings a tug. Completely addictive read

I really enjoyed reading Gideon . This is a sensational suspense romance . It's full of intrigue and it's action packed . Gideon is called to help Jasper and his growing team to find out who is behind the attempt on Mason's life . Gideon is caught off guard when he runs into Pearl the woman he thought he would spend his life with till she walked away years ago . When Pearl arrives home to find an intruder in her home , she calls the first person she knows she can count on Gideon . Gideon and Pearl still have feelings for each other unfortunately Pearl has landed smack in the middle of Gideon's case . Gideon must protect Pearl so they can have a chance for a new relationship . This is definitely Suspenseful . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Wow! This series is full of surprising twists as the new investigative team is working to find out who shot at Mason and why. With each book, there are events happening that may or may not be related to Mason's shooting. And there are plenty of events in this story from a bullying co-worker, a boss who lets her get away with the bullying, Pearl's intuition that something is off when she returns home, dead bodies, and a second chance romance.
Pearl is able to lend a different point of view that Gideon and the team hadn't thought of in regard to some of the events and it helps them get on the right path to answers. In the meantime, as they spend time together, and with the encouragement of others, they finally talk about the possibility of moving forward with a relationship. I loved the glimpses into Tristans character and am looking forward to his story.

Years earlier Pearl decided to end her relationship with Gideon even though she hurt them both in the process. Realizing the grievous error, she went back hoping for a second chance only to find out he left town. Pearl is surprised to see him again but when she finds herself in danger there is no one else she would rather have by her side.
Gideon was hurt when Pearl ended their relationship, and he has so many questions about what went wrong. Seeing her again brings up all the feelings he has tried to deny but the one thing he does know is that he will do whatever is necessary to keep her safe.

Pearl and Gideon have a history from way back.. Pearl gets cold feet and she walks out on their relationship, and regrets it immediately. She returns to find that Gideon isn't there now, and thus begins years of regret that she didn't stay with him.
Pearl runs into Gideon through happenstance, and all the old feelings surface, but she doesn't feel as though she deserves a 2nd chance. She runs into some danger, and the first call she makes is to Gideon. He answers the call, and puts her safety above their past and the hurt she caused. Pearl is smart, and Gideon still loves her. In the end they get their HEA, but first they need to figure out why Pearl is being targeted. Did she see or hear something she shouldn't have, and doesn't even realize it. What a great read!.

This action packed suspense filled second chance romance military thriller will keep you on the edge of your seats and the characters will captivate you.When Gideon gets a call to come join Jaspers investigative team trying to find out who shot Mason and why.He's on the first plane he can get.Jasper meets him telling him about men meeting the one even while investigating Masons attempted murder he also tells him Pearl the only woman he's ever loved that broke his heart he says I'm over it but Jasper tells him maybe its time to get some answers .This story is full of suspense,danger even to Pearl and so much more. I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

This is the third book in the Man Down series and they need to read in order and Gideon is brought in to help with the mystery as to who and why Mason was shot.
He reconnects with Pearl, the woman who owns and broke his heart when she left 5 years ago. But when danger turns up on her doorstep he knows he will protect her forever. As they solve who is threatening Pearl they slowly put more pieces together about who is behind Mason's attack.
Good Story, well-written with wonderful likable characters. Loving this series.

Gideon is a new team member with a history of his own. I did not want this story to end! I fell in love with the characters who drew me in and didn't let go!
Normally I avoid any ongoing series even if each book has a tale of it's own but this one has me hooked. The satisfaction of each book is so worth the read! Thank heavens this series will go on with more of the same! I can't wait!.

Gideon and Pearl had a relationship years ago before she fled with fear of commitment.
Years on they meet again and it's awkward, there is so much going on. Pearl had issues at her place of work and Gideon is helping to find out who the sniper is as this story continues from previous ones.
I really enjoyed watching the author put pieces together of so much that was going on. Danger, murder and intrigue all made for a gripping story.

Gideon Man Down Book 3
Dale Mayer's continues her Man down series into the shooting of Mason in Book 3. Each book can be read on its own but the story lines are inter connected. This author knows how to write mystery and intrigue. She keeps the story moving at a fast and interesting pass so you don't want to put the book down. Try this series and enjoy. I can't wait to start book 4 tonigt.

2 stories in one. The main story about Mason for the series and then Gideon and Pearl's story. Lots happening and full of suspense, especially with Pearl's additional thoughts on things which makes the guys stop and think. (My type of woman lol) A little more is figured out. I can't wait for the next one.

I really liked this book. The chemistry between Gideon and Pearl was easy to see. It took Gideon a little while to get over Pearl leaving years ago but it was obvious they belong together. I also loved the camaraderie with the rest of Gideon’s team, especially Tristian. I can’t wait for his book.

After an awkward initial meeting it turns out to be a good thing as Gideon is there when Pearl needs him. Answering Pearls call turns out to be a second chance for them and a situation that could lead to answers but both will take time.

Gideon comes back to help with the investigation into The shooting and finds out Pearl is back as well. There break up was devastating. She’s got a lot going on around her that just doesn’t make sense until all the pieces all come together. Another couple and a few more tidbits in the ongoing mystery. This series is getting better. Gideon and Pearl's story was suspenseful and emotional. My heart ached for these two. Lot of twists and turns and raw feeling to explore as this gripping read unfolds.

I love this series so much. I loved Mason from the first books he appeared in and through the others. This is about Gideon and finding the truth about Masons injuries. He meets the feisty Pearl who is suspicious of what's gone on and the secrets that's surrounding Mason. An great read of which I can't wait for more.
