bookazine celebrating the 60th anniversary of the world’s longest-running science-fiction programme. This 224-page bookazine explores Doctor Who’s impact on its fans, the viewing public and popular culture across 60 chapters of all-new material. Presented in an exclusive slipcase and lavishly illustrated with hundreds of rare images. Packed full of exclusive contributions from some of the finest writers of the official Doctor Who Magazine, this is the essential souvenir of a television milestone.
A beautifully presented bookazine in honour of Doctor Who's 60th anniversary. This book covers every aspect of Doctor Who you could think of, from video games to Big Finish, and even auctions. It's a spectacular love letter to the show from the makers of Doctor Who Magazine.
This 'bookazine' is absolutely stuffed with interesting content, enough for the newbie and the dedicated Doctor Who fans. There are chapters on the beginning years of the show, features on the various pieces of merchandise (everything from action figures to themed cook books), music, comics, fandom, etc. All eras of the show are covered, in loving detail. My favorite pieces from "60 Moments In Time": - The Laws Of Time (a fun discussion on the lore and continuity of the show) - Meep! Meep! (covers the Doctor Who Magazine comics) - On Target (an article on the series of novelizations, both old & the relaunch versions) - Pod People (if you love the "Redacted" podcast, you'll love this) - Signal To Noise (a spotlight on Big Finish) - Too Broad And Too Deep (covers the spinoff range of novels, like the VNAs & the EDAs for example)
What a wonderful tome of Who information! If you're the kind of Whovian who knows the story of the show, Whitehouse to Grade to everything in between, you don't need a bookazine telling the story of Doctor Who in a direct line. But this is different, sixty articles, each highlighting something about the franchise, fanzines, cliffhangers, the history of companions, even completely bonkers niches like photoshoots. I learned so much from this, and there'll be something in there to fascinate every fan of the good Doctor.
If you can get a copy of this somewhere, then grab one quickly. An amazing book with some new and interesting features on almost everything Doctor Who has offered over 60 years. Not an episode guide. Not a making of. But tales of all that's gone on with the show from comic strips, books, audios, locations, TV scheduling, just so much you may not have read before.
