Pre-order the brand new instalment in Sara L. Hudson's Anyone But You series!
What happens when a moviestar and an heiress, both traveling incognito, have a one-night stand?
Johnny, aka Felix Jones, is Hollywood's go-to action star. About to film his first romantic comedy, he's looking to change his image and show he's more than just a six pack with pithy one-liners. But off screen, he’s got a reputation for other things too, and not all of them are good.
Anne, aka Elizabeth Moore was, until a year ago, heiress to one of New York’s biggest business dynasties. Blindsided at the discovery that she is not, in fact, the daughter of the man who raised her, Liz has spent the past year on a journey of self-discovery. Her most recent discovery? Southern Texas is hot. The weather, the food and the men.
And temperatures do nothing but rise when ‘Anne’ sits next to ‘Johnny’ at the bar. Add in a trip to the ER, a hairless cat, and a NASA movie set, and things get even spicier.
Never mind that Felix has plenty of complications in his life, and the last thing Liz needs is more drama. In fact, when it comes to one-night stands, anyone but the superstar would be better…
This is the story of Liz/Anne, an art msc student who comes from a rich family and Felix, a famous actor. It’s the 3rd book of a series but I read it without having read the other 2. I didn’t have any problem with that, it is a standalone, but the MCs from the previous books (her brothers & their wives) are mentioned quite frequently. It’s a cute, well-written story, beginning with a unique one-night-stand and moving on from there. There are many funny scenes, it’s a book where a lot of emphasis is placed on that aspect. The main character is probably the cat, Mike Hunt, it occupies way too many pages and this is a comment from someone who LOVES cats. The MCs were rather cool, I liked them both a lot and there was definitely chemistry between them. Felix saying stuff in Portuguese was much appreciated 😉 I would have liked to see the relationship last a bit longer before they realised they were in love though. I wasn’t a fan of so many side chars being mentioned, I found it a bit tiring and had trouble following who is who after a while. I also wish the epilogue was a bit longer.

Note: I have not read the previous book, so this can easily be read as a stand-alone. (But now I know there are more, you know what I'd be reading!) A funny, sexy story involving two attractive people, astronauts, family politics, blackmail, and a sphinx cat named Mike Hunt (Yup, she went there!) And though there aren't loads, the spice scenes there are hot! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Liz, or Anne as she is known to John, and Felix, or Johnny as Anna/Liz recognises him, meet in a bar, and one thing leads to another, but not quite how they imagine. Cue an embarrassing moment that comes back to haunt them as they meet again, and one identity is revealed. However, there are still secrets, as the other is still very much under wraps. There are so many laugh-out-loud moments in this story and that spice I mentioned earlier, and the cat scenes are exquisitely done. Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.
At this point where I am a fan and I look forward to every new book by Sara with great enthusiasm, I thought this one wasn't going to surprise me, but I was proven wrong. . Sara not only develops an Elizabeth Moore, the youngest of the Moore dynasty, that I wasn't expecting to catch me, she also brings back the characters from one of my favorite series from her, Space. I was ready to return to the NASA space center with an epilogue since the last page of the last book but this is much more. . A year ago, when Liz learned the truth about her origin, she decided to distance herself from her family and live as frugally as possible, but when her university professor offered her an internship as his assistant in a new Hollywood movie, what ends making her said yes is that it is inside the NASA space center. . Keeping a low profile and traveling with the name Anne, she meets a beautiful stranger and end up so close to the spotligth . For Felix Jones this may be the last chance to be taken seriously by Hollywood. After a series of scandalous rumors, his only solution is to remain low profile, with a hat and a beard included until the end of his new romcom movie recording . But when the sexiest and funniest woman sits next to him at the bar he can't resist the idea of wanting to meet her even if it means giving her another name, there can be no harm in chatting a little. . But when things get out of control, with a visit to urgent care, a spinx cat and a complete movie set , stranger and unexpected things begin to happen. . I loved Liz, and Mike Hunt this time was beside himself with how funny it was, I often found myself saying "what?!" and laughing alone. I would have liked Felix to work a little more for her but the plot was so fun and the story was so entertaining that I can't complain. . These are the type of books that continue in your mind and from which you make Pinterest boards and edits while you are waiting for some artist to make illustrations. . . . . Thanks to Sara L Hudson, her team and Booldwood Books for give me a copy of this beautiful book in exchange for my honest and voluntary opinion
Well, this was a nice and spicy treat for me this week!! I also made the mistake of listening to this on audio....and then the mini one walked past at the completely wrong moment!! I loved this book, haven't read the other 2 books, need to. They are all self-contained with characters in and out from other books and all it has done is make me want to go back and read the other 2.
My first intro to Ms Hudson and it was great! I love this type of book, but the fact that the first meeting between the main two didn't go so well was just added extra! Watching them then having to live together in a condo near NASA, was brilliant. You can always tell where these books are going to go, but for me, I don't mind that, because it's the journey we go on and what I become invested in. Felix (awesome name too) was just the best guy. Ok, so obviously some moments he spoke before he thought, but I found him wholesome with so much spice. He was a gentleman and caring and I loved that despite what had happened to him with his ex, he didn't let it tarnish the next relationship.
I really enjoyed this sizzle and spice and look forward to many more!!!
You have to go into this one expecting to have a giggle. If you do just that, you’ll be happily entertained by the sheer chaos that ensues. If, however, you go in expecting a groundbreaking romance with deeply complex characters, you probably won’t be obsessing over this one any time soon.
There are some truly manic moments in Anyone But The Superstar that had me cackling; although, I do feel as though some of the Mike Hunt (the cat) parts are just a little too silly. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy silly - just in somewhat believable moderation.
Chemistry was crystal clear and I simply ate up the tension between Anne & Felix, although I wish this was drawn out slightly longer. Also a man who cooks? Immediately yes. Although there’s a missed opportunity here for a sexy angry food fight… I’m also most definitely a sucker for a touch of foreign tongue in a romance, and Felix’s Portuguese was a delicious element that I thoroughly enjoyed.
This story is honestly quite ridiculous, but it’s lighthearted, witty, and an easy enough read that I would recommend it if you fancy a touch of humorous, spicy fun!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood for providing this book, with my honest review below.
Anyone But The Superstar was incredibly funny and heartfelt! Yes it has some corny moments and a little too perfect of a wrap up but I found myself giggling and enjoying the characters way too much to mind.
Anne (really, Liz) has been estranged from her society family for a year trying to find herself and rebuffing her trust fund after her father embezzled her money and justified it by revealing she’s not his biological child. There are no feel goods to this part as her faux dad sounded like a jerk, but her family makes up for it by being funny and lovely. On assignment as an intern for a movie taking place at NASA she runs into the hiding a blackmail plot against him actor Felix who is 100% not realistic only because he’s so perfect. That type of story can go a number of tried ways but add in their banter, a hairless cat with a dirty name (which actually comes off as cute) and Anne/Liz’s foul mouth and we have a unique romance that is funny, sweet, and a standout in the genre!
I absolutely went to look at the other books in this series (though this one can be read as a standalone) to get back to the quirky characters in this one, and can’t wait to keep the story going!
Thank you to Netgalley, Sara L. Hudson, and Boldwood Books for the ARC. All thoughts are my own,
This book was hilarious. I'm a huge fan of this series but I think this one takes the top spot. Liz is an heiress going through somethings and that leads her to a job working behind the scenes on a movie. That's where she runs into Hollywood star, Felix. He has his own issues but that doesn't stop these two from having a hysterical failed meet cute. Seriously, I can't give it away because it's just that good.
As always with this series, Mike Hunt is back but shockingly behaves himself, for the most part. I love how he's always part of the story but it never feels out of place. More romance books need animal sidekicks.
The spice was good and there's a tad of enemies but that disappears quickly. It's more along the lines of strangers to friends to lovers. I loved their little grocery shopping trips and how Liz helped him blend in when out in public. As someone who was forced into a spotlight she didn't want, she really did understand what he was going through.
The plot flowed really well, even though there was a lot going on. Honestly, when I finished the book I couldn't believe it was over! It was that easy to read. If you're a fan of her NASA series you're in for some surprises as well!
Pity, but this book was not for me. Though I found the premises quite interesting, the story itself felt flat. Most probably because I'm not a fan of the secret identity trope as well as of this type of humor. However, I'm sure many will find this romcom funny.
This is book 3 of a series, which I didn’t know before reading. It was fine. I don’t think I missed too much from the previous books, except for cats (or the frequently referred p***ies 🤮). The main character of the book imo is a sphinx named Mike Hunt. Yup. Sooo, you can see the humor and language here. It’s not for everyone. I thought the book was situationally funny, but man, it was unnessarily salty. More of an entertaining story than anything deep. Definitely open door, but nothing extreme. Worth a read from the library if the language isn’t a turn off.
Thank you Boldwood Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Get ready for a hilarious and heartwarming ride with Sara L. Hudson’s Anyone But The Superstar. This novel is a delightful blend of comedy, romance, and unexpected twists, making it a must-read for anyone looking for a feel-good story.
The story follows Anne, aka Liz, heiress to NY's biggest business, who unexpectedly finds herself entangled in the glamorous yet chaotic world of Hollywood. When Felix, a charming yet mysterious superstar, enters her life, Liz must navigate her own heart. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the banter between them is sharp and entertaining. Get NASA mix into all of this; the result is unique.
Hudson’s witty writing and relatable characters make Anyone But The Superstar a joy to read. The side characters are amazing, especially the sphinx cat named Mike Hunt. They all bring together drama, family politics, laugh-out-loud moments, and embarrassing ones as well. This has depth too, and I enjoyed the flow and pace.
It's a refreshing take on love and celebrity, perfect for those who love a good laugh with their romance. You will love the small, day-to-day stuff of the story.

*A sizzling sports romance that blends humor, heart, and plenty of sparks!*
🌟✨ **Review:** ✨🌟
*Anyone But The Superstar* by Sara L. Hudson is an addictive sports romance that delivers everything you’d want: steamy chemistry, witty banter, and a swoon-worthy love story that’ll have you rooting for the characters from start to finish.
The story follows a smart, grounded heroine who’s determined to steer clear of the arrogant, spotlight-loving football superstar. The dynamic between them is a delightful push-and-pull as they try to resist their growing attraction. Their banter is quick and sharp, creating plenty of laugh-out-loud moments that keep the story fun and light, while the emotional moments add depth to their relationship.
Hudson does a great job at balancing the glitz of fame with the deeper, more personal struggles the characters face. Both leads are more than just their public personas, and as the layers peel away, you find yourself falling in love with both of them, flaws and all.
---
🌟 **Highlights:** 🌟 - **Strong Characters**: The heroine is relatable and easy to root for, while the superstar love interest has hidden depths that make him more than just a typical sports hero. - **Fun, Flirty Banter**: The dialogue is witty, making their dynamic fun to follow. - **Emotional Depth**: Despite the fun, there are heartfelt moments that ground the story and make the romance feel genuine.
---
💌 **Favorite Quote:** *"It turns out the person I was running from might just be the one worth running toward."* - A line that perfectly captures the emotional journey of the characters.

*Anyone But The Superstar* is a delightful blend of romance, humor, and sports drama. Sara L. Hudson crafts a heartwarming and flirty story that will have you turning the pages, eager to see how it all unfolds. A perfect pick for sports romance fans!
Really editors? "my mother became additive to opioids" How tf do professionals let something like that get past them?
"But then again, love is also why my mother married Stanley Winston Moore" No it wasn't. It was a money/business deal between two families. There was never love
"To keep living the life of Eleanor Moore, wife of Stanley Winston Moore," Who TF is Eleanor? For two books she was Emily. I swear this whole book has been rewriting the history of the first two.
We don't get closure with the tabloids or everyone meeting each other. Royal let down
So Book 2 was a year after the events of Book 1. Liz was always close with Chase. Chase and Thomas did what they did to protect Liz. Her thank you? Take off for a year and not tell them where she was or that she's OK. The bonus epilogue of Book 2 was about 4 months later, and the detective Thomas hired finally found Liz. (Although in this book Chase found a doctor's bill) Basically she ghosted her brothers for 1.5 years. I already don't like her. Sure she was at the wedding a year after she ran but then she left again, and again no contact. So basically I'm going into this book 1. Not liking Liz 2. Knowing there will be a 3rd act break up over something irrational that could have been handled in an honest and quick manner ETA 2.5. Everyone will have aged 2 to 3 years despite the timelines (example, 6 months have passed since Chase wedding, maybe even 7, but Mary has gone from 6 to 9) (last book Alice went from 26 to 28 then 29 in 1 year) 3. Knowing the guy will be the bad guy in said break up 4. Ignoring all the clothing details because this author thinks we need more words. I'm only here for the closure and the laughs
I really don't like Liz Domestic animals attack people on the daily so her assuming he was attacked by a wild animal then laughing when she found out a cat attacked him as a child. She's been present for a lot of Mike's attacks on humans so why TF did she laugh about it. She gave the guy a blow job so her continuing to make fun of him for erectile disfunction made ZERO sense. Maybe it would be funny if everyone joked about it IF she didn't know for a fact it wasn't true. She's very judgy AND she's trying to ambush her secret half sister instead 9f calling her to talk. The female leads are going downhill in this series. Bell was awesome, Alice was judgy but realized it, Liz is just UGH.

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁: I really enjoyed the FMC in this book but I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of the MMCs storyline. Blackmail isn’t my thing but I guess that’s the world of Hollywood it’s what you can hold over someone’s head to get ahead. Despite that I still really enjoyed this book and the fun OMG meet cute these two have. I have loved and highly recommend the Anyone But You series overall.
A one night stand gone wrong ending with a knee to the crouch and an ER visit. These two definitely weren’t destined for more but fate brought Anne and Johnny back together on a movie set at NASA in Texas.
Anne who is actually the heiress Elizabeth Moore is working as a story writer as part of her Master program. This past year she went incognito to discover who she was without the money and title. But her year is almost up and she still hasn’t met her half sister which is what drew her to Texas in the first place. So with time running out she needs help, her last chance is the Astronauts Ball and she has to make a deal with the last person she wants to score an invite.
Johnny, aka Felix Jones is a Hollywood action star but he’s trying to transition to the role of romantic comedy. He has a lot of drama surrounding him right now and he doesn’t want to lose this chance. So when he was offered a condo during the shoot vs the hotel he said yes. He didn’t realize Anne was already given the place.
So they strike a deal. Johnny can stay in the condo with her if he cooks and takes her as his date to the astronaut ball. But we’re in Texas folks and the temp just keeps rising. Don’t forget to factor in Mike Hunt! Be sure to check this one out.

A serendipitous encounter between a hilarious curse poet and an adorable movie star afflicted with tabby-cat PTSD will have you rolling with laughter. I can't get enough of the charming Moore family with their disdainful hairless cat, Mike Hunt.
Elizabeth "Anne" Moore is a hilariously vulgar-mouthed heiress who has lost her identity and is lying low. Getting her master's and working as an intern at NASA are her next steps to moving on. Then she meets a stranger for a one-night stand that turns into a numb mouth, a kick in the balls, and a photo that could go viral. Liz is smart, brave, and loves her family. Liz's resilience shines through in her ability to overcome the emotional scars left by her horrible father's actions. With support and love from her family, she becomes a strong and independent woman rising above her circumstances. I admire her unapologetic bluntness, which is inspired, giving her a sense of authenticity.
Johnny Douchebag, aka Felix Jones, is a famous action movie star and nice guy who is trying to expand his acting roles by starring in a rom-com. Then, he meets an intriguing and sexy woman, only to end a steamy night with him on the floor holding his nuts and kicking himself for trusting a stranger. Felix is adorable, vulnerable, and genuine. In a business where image is key, and vulnerabilities are often shielded from public view, Felix's willingness to embrace his flaws and struggles is a refreshing departure from the norm.
Ms. Hudson is a remarkable writer with impeccable comedic timing. Her ability to paint vivid pictures with words leaves a lasting impression, drawing this reader into her stories with each turn of the page. The plot is fun and fast-paced, and Felix and Liz navigate the complexities of falling in love while sharing a condo and working on a movie set at NASA.
If you're a fan of comedic and heartwarming encounters, endearing and quirky characters, and hilarious cats that steal the show, this book will absolutely have you in stitches.
Thank you to Ms. Hudson for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

🇺🇸Anyone but the Superstar by Sara L. Hudson unfortunately didn’t work for me. I really tried to get into it, but the constant focus on the hairless cat was just too much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with a cat being part of the story. But when said cat becomes a quasi-main character with scenes in nearly every chapter, it starts feeling like the book was more about the cat than the actual romance. At this point, the author might as well have written a whole book about her cat!
And then there’s the smut... At first, I laughed because it was so awkwardly written that it bordered on parody. But as the book went on, it just became unbearably cringe-worthy. There’s a difference between fun and spicy romance scenes and whatever this was. Unfortunately, this one didn’t hit the mark for me at all.

Anyone But the Superstar is the third book in the ‘Anyone But You’ series by Sara L Hudson, and as I had enjoyed the first two books I was delighted to accept the publisher’s offer to read this one. On discovering that Stanley Moore was not actually her father, Liz took off on a year of self-discovery away from her previous life of wealth and privilege. Needless to say, her family were not too happy about it. She is currently in Texas, about to work on a film for her professor as a storyboarder, but really to meet her half-sister and biological father whose existence she only recently discovered. Felix Jones is trying to break out from only working on action movies, so has agreed to star in a rom-com being filmed at NASA, and hopefully move his career forward. As he is sitting at the bar sporting a scruffy beard, Liz does not recognise him, and they embark on a one night stand that goes horribly wrong. Due to a mix-up, they then end up sharing an apartment along with her brother’s hairless cat. They have great chemistry and are getting along famously until Felix finds out that she has not been forthcoming about her real identity. As she knew all about his ex blackmailing him, he feels betrayed. Is their burgeoning relationship over before it really gets going? The characters are well drawn and believable, and it was great to catch up with the rest of the Moore family, especially the cats. It was interesting to read about the ups and downs of life as a famous actor, and having grown up in the spotlight Liz is ideally suited to coping with Felix’s lifestyle. The humour veers between laugh out loud and embarrassingly cringeworthy, though the narrative also deals with serious issues such as addiction and blackmail. I enjoyed Anyone But the Superstar and will look out for other books by this writer. Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a digital copy to review.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My Opinion
I have read this as a standalone and whilst there was obviously bits of the back story I have missed I felt I had enough information to enjoy Anyone but the Superstar. This book has taken me a few days to read due to other commitments but whilst I wasn't reading it I was still thinking about the characters.
Sara was a new author to me going into this, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the writing, but I definitely got an enjoyable read. If you need a laugh then this book will definitely provide.

😊What i liked -
✔ Celebrity/Forced Proximity/Hidden Identity/Opposites Attract. ✔ Mike Hunt strikes again. This cat has some personality. Manages to be weird yet funny. (allergic in real life to cats though) ✔ As individual characters i really liked them. ✔ I really did like they first met and how hilariously their supposed one night stand night ends. ✔ I liked the snippets and appearances of the previous book characters in this. ✔ It was an easy and cute read.
🤔What could have been better-
✔ For me it lacked chemistry. I liked the previous two books better though.
3.5-4.0🌟 stars This story is full of situational humor, most involving a hairless cat named Mike Hunt, and plays out with NASA headquarters being used as a set for male lead Felix's current movie project. Elizabeth Ann Moore, the artist female lead who's hiding her previous socialite identity as part of a year of finding herself without the trappings of her famous, wealthy family, has quite a strong, stroppy personality which comes through right from the opening, weirdly hazardous, meet-cute night of passion. Felix has his own gossip mongers and secrets to deal with, but I really liked his down-to-earth attitude despite his stardom, his clear devotion to his mother, and the way he adapts to the situations and challenges Ann/Liz throws his way as they deal with close proximity, Ann's appalling inability to cook, and overcoming his traumatic aversion to cats.
I did not find the peccadillos LOL funny, but it's a cute story. I'm not certain why, but the plot did not draw me in as I had hoped and it took longer to read and appreciate than I anticipated. Very spicy at times (more than I needed) but I did like the principal characters and Ann's family, particularly young niece Mary. The couple's troubled crisis and the resolution at the end were my favorite parts of the story, but the opening hotel room disaster was right up there as well. The cat was okay but maybe a bit too present. I understood most of the Portuguese dialogue but some translation clues would have been helpful.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
This is the third book in the "Anyone But You" series but it can be read as a standalone. It features the characters from the first book but not enough to confuse things if you haven't read the first two books.
Liz or Anne, is working as an intern on a movie at NASA in Texas when she meets a hot guy with an ugly beard in a restaurant one night and spends the night with him, at least until there is a mishap with a condom and she runs out, never expecting to see him again. Until she realises he's Felix Jones - the main character in the movie she's working on.
They end up living together in the same condo along with Liz's brothers hairless cat, Mike Hunt. Mike is honestly the best character in this book, he is absolutely hilarious and has such an attitude, he's like a person and I love him already. I'm assuming he features in one of the previous books as well so I might have to go back and read them purely for Mike!
Unfortunately there is a third act break up when Felix says some unfair, and quite nasty things to Liz but her older brother Thomas overhears him and punches him for it. Which I think is exactly what he deserves!
I think there could have been more character growth for Liz and Felix though. Liz has had a tough year with what she's learned about her family but it doesn't feel like she's really found herself or any answers until it's rushed through at the end. It would have been good to have more than a brief mention in an epilogue of her getting to know her dad and half-sister, I think it would have rounded out her character a bit more.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
This is a delightful and sizzling romantic comedy that brings together two seemingly mismatched characters—Felix Jones, a Hollywood action star, and Elizabeth Moore, a former heiress seeking to redefine herself. What starts as a spontaneous, steamy one-night encounter in a bar quickly turns into a whirlwind of complications, misunderstandings, and undeniable chemistry.
Both Felix and Elizabeth are on personal journeys of self-discovery, far from their usual glamorous lives. Felix is known for his tough-guy image and is trying to shed his action star persona and try his hand at romantic comedy. Elizabeth is recovering from a bombshell revelation about her true parentage and is escaping to Texas to reconnect with herself—and perhaps forget her past for a while.
The chemistry between Felix and Elizabeth is palpable from the moment they meet, and their acquaintance quickly turns from a casual fling to a deeper connection, all while juggling the pressures of their respective high-profile lives. The story does a good job of balancing humor, emotion, and spicy romance, and you can't help but root for the characters.
The book is charming with witty dialogue that keeps the story fresh. Despite their high-profile status, Felix and Elizabeth are both relatable and endearing characters, Felix with his vulnerability beneath the tough-guy image and Elizabeth’s journey of rediscovery.
In conclusion, the story is fun and entertaining and a perfect choice if you enjoy a dash of humor, heart, and heat.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Anyone But The Superstar is the third book in Sara L. Hudson's series. I haven't read the previous parts. When there were side characters in this book, I guessed that these were characters from the previous books, but the book still worked well as a standalone.
"Anne" (real name Liz) and "Johnny" (actually a famous actor Felix) meet in a bar and end up in a very, uh, awkward situation. But hey, they'll never meet again!
But they meet, and on top of that, at work! The situation is weird at first, but Liz and Felix end up becoming friends. And more, but a series of misunderstandings and secrets challenge their true feelings.
I liked this book, especially after the halfway point, the plot was really interesting. The book had a third act breakup and misunderstandings, which I usually hate, but in this book it was resolved in classic way with the Grand Gesture.
The book was entertaining, romantic and spicy. And there was a strange hairless cat named Mike Hunt. I will definitely read Sara L. Hudson's books again!

“He doesn’t say it this time, but it doesn’t matter. I know I’m loved.”
Anyone But The Superstar is the third book in the “Anyone But You” series, but it can be read as a stand-alone without problem (even if the author makes a lot of references to other characters and their story, it works just fine). I absolutely adored how this book is also almost a crossover with the author’s Space series. Once again, you don’t need to have read it (I did a couple of years ago, I didn’t remember everything), but the belonging feeling is here, and fun. Lizzy and Felix’s story is very nice, full of hilarious catastrophes. It had been a long time since I had laughed so hard with a romance. I loved the double hidden-identity, as a necessity but also a mask to drive their insecurities away. They are everything you could expect, AND everything you couldn’t, all at once. The side characters are also very nice, well written in all their diversity. Behind the light read, the messages to go behind the appearances, to communicate (it’s not the usual miscommunication trope though), and to self discover yourself (and gain some self-esteem) and stop hiding before having a relationship are there, woven into the fun story. In the end, I let myself be carried away by that relaxing read, and the various plot twists, having a really good time.
Thank you Sarah L. Hudson, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC. My opinions are my own
I’ve read the 2 prior books in this series. I enjoy this author’s previous books where the cat, Mike Hunt, was introduced. Unfortunately, it seemed that the main character in this book was actually Mike Hunt which is the reason for my rating. While the cat is cute as a character that escalates some of the more amusing situations in this story, it got a little repetitive at times with “what trouble will the cat cause now” scenario.
Plus, I am soooo tired of the main characters first meet ALWAYS in a bar which then leads to the one night stand. With that said, the one night stand scene that followed was really imaginative and hysterical.
I also was scratching my head about the whole issue of the cocktail dress that became a lead into the angst part of the book. I assume that the original dress purchase by the MMC, Felix, was from the same store that Liz’s family owns and from where Liz also received the dress. Considering that both recipients were socialites that could attend the same events, and knowing that, why would the same dress be sent to the sister of the store’s owner? That made no sense at all to me especially if we are speaking of haute couture unless it would show up on the pages as “who wore it best”.
All in all I do enjoy the books by this author and will continue to read any future books by her.
It's time for the last Moore standing to find her HEA in the most unexpected way and of course Mike Hunt is there to cause his own personal brand of hilarious yet chaotic drama.
3.5 ⭐
Anyone But the Superstar is the third book in the Anyone But You series by Sara Hudson and I do strongly suggest reading this series in order for the best possible enjoyment. And if your'e already a Sara fan then get ready because she has us going back to her roots a bit with some cameos from some very special characters at NASA.
Anne aka Liz has been on a little journey of self discovery after learning that her life wasn't quite all that she thought it was- and that's how she finds herself in Texas as a storyboard intern for a romance movie. What she wasn't expecting was that the guy that she had an ill-attempted one night stand with just so happens to be a Hollywood star and the male lead in said movie.
Felix and Anne have this intense draw to one another but there is also this layer of distrust and anger that simmers between them. For Felix it stems from an ex that proved he couldn't take people at face value anymore and for Anne it came from wanting to be seen as her own person not the former artistic socialite she forced herself to be before learning the truth about her parentage.
Anne still has this bold personality and fabulous sense of humor that I've loved seeing through the other books in the series. Only now there is this subdued almost nervous quality to her too. I didn't love Felix at first or even halfway through the story. Sure I softened towards him as he lowered his walls and made this effort in caring for Anne the way that she seems to care for everyone but he also had this cocky and almost elitist energy that I didn't quite love.
Things between these two, while they started off hot they significantly cooled and then were simmered on low for a bit while they kind of learned to co-exist and be more friendly than enemies. What this story did not lack though was Sara's patented humor and over the top hilarity that can only be caused by the hairless grump of a cat, Mike Hunt.
Overall this story is exactly what it needs to be- light, fun and such an enjoyable world to dive into. So many moments left me giggling from the numbing cream incident to Thomas losing his stone faced facade in his older brother quest to defend his baby sister and everything in between. I personally loved how Sara incorporated her NASA characters into this story while also adding this fun and unexpected connection.
