No Matter What: A Story of Unwavering Devotion and the Power of Resilience

Rate this book
Sam and Erin were high school sweethearts. They couldn’t wait to start their happily ever after.

When Sam decided to enlist in the Marine Corps in 2003, Erin was thrilled they could fast-track their dream of becoming husband and wife. Little did they know this decision would alter the course of their lives forever. During his third deployment, Sam sustained a severe traumatic brain injury, and the next thirteen years would revolve around his survival.

Years before Sam’s injury, a young Sam and Erin had made a pact to never stop striving to be the best versions of themselves and to embrace life to the fullest—no matter what.

This pact took on a whole new meaning after Sam’s injury, with each day presenting its own challenges. Throughout Sam’s life, Erin did everything in her power to live up to that solemn promise–a vow that has now become the mantra of her own evolving life as she forges ahead without him.

No Matter What is more than a love story—it is a testament to the undeniable power of positivity and a profound lesson in resilience.

This book will make you think differently about love, commitment, devotion, and showing up for your person day after day. It’s the memoir of a young couple who navigate the difficult realities of military deployment and life-altering injury with steadfast faith in God and each other. I’m so glad to have read their story.

I read this book in one day … I couldn’t put it down. It’s a story of young love, told by the wife of a soldier, that takes a heartbreaking turn after he’s wounded, and the life they endured after his injuries. I have a lot of respect for her attitude and outlook on life and how she handled situations she had no control over.

I found it interesting reading her grieving process as I reacted very similarly when my bestie passed — I thought there was something wrong with me. I do realize everyone grieves differently and it’s very individual, and she does a good job reiterating that.

Fantastic book!

Absolutely loved it! Erin is a great writer and I felt like I was there with her through it all. My favorite part were the Sam quotes at the end. Definitely left me with a smile.

Currently a nurse in the Air Force. This book added a new dimension to how I see my patients and their families.
It is SO good, carrying the reader through the very real journey of life, love, and loss. 10/10 recommend it to anyone they love deeply in their life.

Life Changing

A true to life love story, one by most standards that doesn’t end “and they lived happily ever after”. This book reminded me to embrace each day and make it count.
