Michael Gants is a quality inspector for nuclear power plants. He is a proud retired USN submariner, trained in the maintenance and upkeep of nuclear power systems. During his time in the military, he visited 25 countries on five of the seven continents. He has been around the world and through every ocean. He has also been an insurance salesman, computer programmer, journalist, air conditioner mechanic, small business owner, small craft boarding specialist, an aquarium maintenance technician for Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach, and a Navy anti-terrorism trainer. He and his amazing family now reside in Chattanooga Tennessee with several fur babies.
Another excellent book in the series. The story spends the majority of time on a submarine, makes it a very different adventure. I admit to some bias for this book, as the Admiral in the story was the captain of the USS Cavalla, SSN 684, which is the boat i served on in the 80's and this story takes place in 1986 (i was still aboard). The main submarine in the story is the USS Sea Devil, same class a boat as the Cavalla.
So other than the obvious bias, i did enjoy the sotry. Thee is some obvious drama additions, not sure were necessary, but nothig to keep you from reading it.
Wavesong, by Michael Gants is Book 7 in the Joint Task Force 13 series—a string of stories about the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen who quietly defend us from the unspeakable horrors of beings, "supernaturals" from the Never-Never. In Wavesong, a spy chase and submarine drama are entangled by a vile sea monster that lures its prey with a compelling music. Sergeant John Morehouse and his Marines wage a battle with the kraken that looks completely unwinnable. I strong heartedly recommend this novel because of its pace, its tone, and its worth as a gripping story of military honor. Its pace is fast and even breathtaking. Short sentences, terse conversations, and quick scenes make this happen. Its tone is authentic and convincing with military language and behavior throughout. And the story's worth is grounded in the detailed descriptions of human improvisation, commitment, and courage. This ia a semper fi story with an oorah ending.
Lay we’ve had ground, airel, and ship combat this stories takes into the deep darkness were few have ever know the ocean depth there lay at the author threw one of thouse wacky complex Cold War plans to fit with the sitting all to show why JTF-13 get the crazy missions and get to read it.
Bumped in to this series a while back and it just keeps wanting more!
Fans of the Super Natural amongst us will love these stories. We all fear the bumps in the night or that cold chill you just can shake. These stories tell a great tale.
Wow what a story. Full of action, suspense and more. Stealing a dangerous weapon that could put the US at risk has to be solved quickly. Can the team do this. There’s no missing out on this book.
