There will be dragons...

With Donnowan’s expedition lost to a dragon, Miriam Huckerpucker gathers a ragtag band of undeads and sets off to the fringes of the known world to rescue the remnants. And also find the true villain behind the dragon attacks and why dragons suddenly appeared in this world.

Could the villain be the same one who makes old and new enemies show up on the road? Like the old hag who comes haunting from her past or the new hag who comes hunting her in the present?

Miriam doesn’t have time to ponder as she hurries along, but with painted barbarians, disfigured corpses and wanted criminals by her side she has to stay clear of the main roads, losing valuable time sidetracking through the wilderness.

But it is the same wilderness that Donnowan’s expedition travelled through. On her way she stumbles on vital clues and learns an odd thing or two.

Like accidents happen.

And dragons too, apparently.

I’m a Norwegian author working hard to finish the three last books in my fantasy Hexalogy which will be coming out in 2026.

I also have an MA in Fine Arts, fascination for history, and of the old Norse (before the world of the Vikings) and a BA in computing so I think that trolls shouldn’t be trafficked abroad to troll farms but stay in the wilderness in Scandinavia to get less pixelation and become more real.

If you enjoy my books or want to get in touch you can find me under my pen name on Instagram. And yes, I also love to read, as long the story is entertaining.

This is the second book in the Them Old Bones hexalogy and having read (and loved) the first book in this series only last month, I was excited to dive head first into this book.

We follow the story pretty much from where we left off in book one and this time Miriam is off to search for the dragons and to see if Donnowan is indeed dead or alive?

I love her crazy group of companions - the undeads are such an unlikely bunch - all with such different personalities - it's hard to believe that they actually get along and work so well together - but they do!

I had loved Miriam in the first book - such an intriguing character - which made her development through this book a real joy. However, I'm pretty sure that there will be much more to come over the next few books too.

This was again full of action and I loved the descriptive writing which really allows us to immerse ourselves in this strange world.
The tension of the adventures are always offset by the infusion of humour throughout the story and this makes it so easy to race through.

Another great read and I'm already looking forward to the next installment.

Miriam Huckerpucker is definitely less grumpy in book two. Instead, she’s a little worried and a little determined to track down Donnowan’s troupe and solve the dragon predicament before more chaos ensues!

This adventure is full of twists and secrets and dare I say a smidge of romance in the air?! These characters are so fun, and I really enjoyed their puns, jokes, and individual characters as I read.

There were also some losses this time around and I was bummed with some of them 😢 which I think really speaks to the author’s ability to make you care about these whacky, genuinely human, undead characters.

I’m excited to see where the next adventure takes us, especially with that ending!

The first book in this series "Them Old Bones," was a surprising front runner in top books for this year earlier this month. Obviously, when I pick books, I do so assuming I'll like them. I just didn't realize I'd like this series this much! I love fantasy. Harry Potter was my favorite series for a long time, and The Time Quintet (A Wrinkle in Time being the most famous) is still something I hope to introduce my daughter to. But I think this author will definitely earn their spot amongst those great stories.

I love dark humour, something I used to be embarassed about, but now that we're all embrassing the darker sides of our nature - hello dark romance girlies! - it is okay to admit it, right? I don't mean to be morbid, but I've also seen a lot in my life, and sometimes you gotta laugh or else you'll cry. I don't know if that's what happened in this story, but it is hilarious. So many fantasy stories take themselves so seriously, but this one adds just enough humour and reality - because unalive things have certain quirks that are unavoidable - to make it nearly knee-slapping funny.

It is also adorable. I don't know how old the characters are, but they almost seem like they're in their late teens or early twenties. In reality some of the undead ones are like hundreds of years old I think. Either way, some of them, whether recently or long undead, have little experience in living issues, like a love life. While some of them have been running around dating, others have not. And watching romance bloom between some of the characters is just adorable. It's very clean - as far as undead romance can be clean - romance and I'm here for it.

The author has developed the relationships between the characters beautifully. The ones that have had to live with each other for decades, centuries, (longer?) have the hallmarks of long-suffering siblings and friends who are comfortable and just a little annoyed. Sometimes, a lot annoyed. But, for the most part, they all work together for the goals of the collective, like the family they are. And, the newcomers, while they are disciplined like newcomers usually are, are still watched over and viewed like a family unit normally would. It's such an interesting and lovely thing to read and watch. Of course, the dysfunction is there as well. Almost no familial unit exists without it. The method to join this particular family is dark and brutal. There are groups that go against the norm and try to fight the status quo. All of it is equally well done.

If you enjoy dark humor and fantasy, this is a great book - and series for you. I'd personally start with the first one - Them Old Bones, but you do you. I don't like to pick up in the middle of series. The series deals with some very mature and intense topics, so please check the warnings. If the content warnings are ones you can handle, this is a great read for fantasy and comedy lovers! If you're a fan of D&D, dragons, and undead creatures, I especially think you'll enjoy this one!

This is the second book in the Them Old Bones Hexology, and I preferred it slightly to the previous one. I don't know if this is because i already "know" the main characters and their world, or if it's because the chapters being named after who's POV it is at that time, which makes it easier to follow. Or maybe a bit of both.

Miriam Huckerpucker (still my favourite fictional name) leads her band of merry undeads to find out what's happened to a previous group of explorers. Along the way they meet new friends, and old and new enemies. There are dragons, battles and magic spells.

These books are written in such a humerous way. Who'd have thought a story about the undead could be so funny! Honestly, and I mean this as a positive thing, but it feels like the author pulled random words out of a hat to make names and spells.

This series is so much fun to read, and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs a little light relief! I'm looking forward to book 3.

Them Old Bones Hexalogy book 2.
I did enjoy this book. It was great to see crazyjones and Miriam. This was again full of action and I couldn't put it down. I do love this series. I do love the cover. It stands out. I like the writing style. I do still love how unique the names are. Raithea and flatface. I love Tenderloin the dog. I didn't trust Slyslink at all. I love the banter between the group. I did like the part when Gorth was teaching Raithea to swim. I did like the ending. I'm looking forward to the next book. 5*.

This is another totally mad adventure through a magical land with the undead ragtag bunch we were introduced to in the first book in this series.
Here in book 2, we get to know some of the cast and their backgrounds in more depth. Particularly Miriam.
I always have a laugh at the spells. The language is comical.
There is plenty of action right from the start, and it continues right through.
We have so much going on towards the end, it's certainly shaping up to be an exciting book 3!

‘Accidental Dragons’ is the second installment of ‘Them Old Bones’ series of books and it’s packed full of humour and unique characters. I still love Miriam and we find out so much more about her and her past in this book. The group of main characters in this book are so individual and mismatched. This book is easy to love and get completely immersed in. This whole series feels refreshing and I really can’t wait to read more.

I received a gifted copy of this novel. This review is my honest opinion and written voluntarily.

A 3.5, but that may have been affected by the amount of time between reading the first book and this. Still very fun.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, it was something new and refreshing and made me laugh. Unfortunately, this sequel fell a little flat for me. Still enjoyable but there was just something that I couldn’t put my finger on that made it a bit less fun.

Miriam is leading an expedition to find a group of 5 hingers that have gone missing looking for dragons. There was a bit too much of Miriam zoning out in this one that I found irritating after a while, as it just seemed to be happening far more frequently than before and didn’t seem necessary most of the time. The other characters we met in the first one were still there - Raithea, Crazyjones, Mister Hunt, Flatface and Gorth, and they still have their craziness about them which I enjoyed.

Overall, a good story, lots going on but there felt like something was missing, like it was a bit of a filler for the series even though it had its own storyline and was busy. I may go back and read this again at a later date, I’ll continue with the series too as I have grown fond of these characters 😊

After reading the first book in this swords and sorcery hexalogy series ‘Them Old Bones’ I couldn’t wait to jump back into the crazy undead world with Crazyjones, Miriam and gang joining them on there mission to find out what happened to Donnowans expedition party.
We get to know the characters a lot more in this one as we join them on there journey and as with the first book there is plenty of action throughout.
I love Crazyjones and Miriam’s relationship it’s super sweet and also love the banter within the group.
I liked how we got flashback chapters from Donnowans and Slyslinks journey and how the two stories joined up in the end.
I’m very much looking forward to reading the next book in the series ‘Bone Sacking’

My honest thoughts..
After reading book one (Them old bones) I was super excited to read book two (Accidental dragons).

I feel like the storyline is intriguing but I didn't find it very humourous, like the banter between them all kinda faded away.. Them Old bones did have me laughing more.

Saying this I did fully enjoy the adventure they went on and liked trying to suss out the traitor/s ..

I liked that we got to know more of the first team and what was happening with them and I would read the next book to find what donnowan did after shyslink left and how the dragons were made..

Here is my review for Accidental Dragons by Astor Y Teller

I really enjoyed this second book of the series and got into it straight away. It still had the humour in the writing and with the names. This time Miriam HuckerPucker was taking some of the undead off to see if they could find Donovan, to see if he was dead or alive? Also, to try and find out about the dragon attacks that had been happening. To see if they could find out who was behind them. It could be a lengthy trip. I loved the storyline and to be back with the undead. This is a series that I’m loving along with the characters that are in it. They are all so different but rub along together and get on with each other most of the time. They are learning the craft of the undead and it will be interesting to see how it goes for them. The writing is just superb and so is the plotting of the book. It carried on where the first book left off. This author has such a good writing style, it’s easy to read and enjoy the book. I’m now looking forward to the next book in the series.

I was excited for tis book after having read the first book in the series, Them Old Bones. The characters have been developed even further and I enjoyed their stories and interactions with each other. It's unique following the undead as they try to navigate their new world and learn their new skills as an undead. Apart from being undead, their lives just carry on with some of them even dating! The quirky names remain as does the dark humour. I enjoyed the story and the gang's quest to find out who was responsible for the dragon attacks that had been occurring. The writing is well developed, engaging and appealing. I really like the premise behind these stories and the series is quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

I liked this book much more than the first in terms of structure. The beginning of the chapter is with the name of the character whose point of view the chapter itself belongs to, making the story more engaging.
We were able to keep track of the different quests that are ongoing and not get lost.
I really like this trope, the quest one.
However, the ending didn't completely convince me because it was left open-ended. Open endings are something I personally don't appreciate.
Overall, it was a book that I had fun with and inspired me for my future DnD campaigns.
