Destiny Hawk: A Cross Gate Story

Rate this book
Just like Rouge One or Solo, Star Wars ‘stories’; Destiny Hawk is not a ‘book 4’ per say, but in essence, a CG spinoff. It deals with a brand new character, one not previously introduced in the trilogy. Her name is Abbi, and she is – Cassie’s half-sister, the daughter of Sandra and David – years after the events of the Cross Over.

And just as with her sister Cassie and mother Sandra (the dual persona of Cassandra), Abbi’s full name, AbbiGale, is her duality designation – with her winged, sea – creature, borne of the methane lakes of Saturn’s moon, Titan. Unlike the merged personhoods of previous human-to-human characters in the Cross Gate world, Destiny Hawk explores the two-as-one of a girl and the animal she’s bonded with.

More is happening upon ‘the new Earth’ as well, as the planet’s restored sentinels Eve & Adam, are in crisis. Eve has been kidnapped by none other than Viator, the Beast Both gone back in time to Eden via a wicked scheme he’s concocted to reboot the timeline into original sin.

Shepherd, aware of the situation, has a grand design of his own for Eve’s rescue, spearheaded by Abbi & Gale, with ground support from the rest of the gate-keepers, not to mention the four living creatures of Revelations.

DESTINY HAWK is previously published as Destiny Hawk, Episodes 1-34 on Kindle Vella

I'm unfamiliar with the Cross Gate series, but after reading this novel, I'm excited to follow-up on the actual series. I can't fully describe how amazing this book turned out to be--it is a 'one of a kind' read. It reminds me of movies like Avatar, John Carter, and Back to the Past. If you enjoy watching those movie genres, then this book will definitely appeal to you. "Destiny Hawk: A Cross Gate Story" is both exhilarating and captivating. I never experienced boredom while reading it. No, not even once! I'm officially on the look-out for new books from the author. Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to read more about AbbiGale in the future.

Speaking of AbbiGale--Abbi is born on Titan. Her mother, father, and older half-sister are originally from earth. Abbi is no ordinary teen girl. She possesses the ability to bond with Gale; her flying 'spirit animal' and companion. They undergo a 'dual-persona experience' where two identities share one cognitive consciousness. This is a process that is enhanced by dreaming and sharing dream-walk encounters. Abbi's mother, Sandra, and her half-sister, Cass, also share this ability. Their personalities blend to form 'Cassandra'. From what I gather, through reading the book, the 'Cassandra' persona/characters are key characters in the actual Cross Gate series. This novel however---which is a Cross Gate spinoff---introduces us to AbbiGale and their story.

Essentially, this story proceeds after the events in the original Cross Gate series. Eve has been kidnapped by the villainous Viator as part of his diabolical plans to revert the time-period back into the timeline of the original sin. Shepherd (a friend and deity) recruits AbbiGale as part of his plan to rescue Eve and foil Viator's diabolical plans. Their journey is one layered with action, danger, and adventure. Overall, I give this book 4-stars. It is well-written and the character-designs are astounding. This book is exciting, adventurous, beautifully narrated, and action-packed. Even the conceptualization and world-building is intriguing. However, since I haven't read the actual Cross Gate series, some of the concepts are a little perplexing for a 'newbie' like me. Nonetheless, it is a fantasy novel that holds a lot of promise. Fantasy aficionados will enjoy it, for sure.

Here comes Book 4 of the Cross Gate series. Destiny Hawk, A Cross Gate Story by A.F. Roberts is a focus on AbbiGale, Cassie's half sister, in another adventure fantasy with her extraordinary family and buddies.

It's a welcome to Titan, a place quite far from Earth. Her name is AbbiGale, Abbi for short and Gale for her other half, a bird-fish creature. Abbi and her other half have this ability to become one to dream-walk, like her mother Sandra and half sister Cassie's ability.

They have a battle to win. Shepherd, a friend and deity, plans to have AbbiGale in the troop. Eden/Lilith and Eve/Viator kind of set up. Will they be able to save Eve? Is it only Eve that they have to rescue?

Destiny Hawk is refreshing and enchanting. It's an enjoying read that is intriguing thru the new idea of fantasy. It brings the mind into different worlds that readers might not have been yet in their imaginations. The storytelling is simple and spellbinding.

I give this sci-fi a four-star rate for the above-mentioned aspects of the story. There is nothing that I dislike in the book, zero profanity as well.

Hence I recommend this book for readers of all ages, precisely the sci-fi and fantasy lovers, good for indulging oneself from a long tiring day.
