As a demi-god and king of the ocean, all Julian wants to do is protect the denizens of the deep and drown the humans for their crimes against sea creatures. Which is kinda unfortunate since he’s now just become the one person responsible for keeping the people of the world safe.

Bridget: Bridget is a public relations specialist. Kind of. The curvy, average, dateless human is going to help Julian and his bizarre group of semi-insane, super-powered friends reach their full potential as heroes. And not JUST because he’s the handsomest man she’s ever seen. Even if she does wish he’d stop telling all the humans that he’s going to conquer the planet.

(M/F, HEA, 150K words, antihero romance, workplace romance, merman romance, is part of a series but the romance is self-contained and can be read as a stand-alone.)

Overeducated and underemployed, Elizabeth (“Lizzy”) Gannon lives in Florida with her sister Cassandra Gannon (who is also an author) She enjoys romance novels, comic books, and soap operas.

She has always been the type of person who genuinely votes for the bad guys in movies, TV and video games, and usually can’t stand the hero. Even as a child all of her Barbies were always criminals and/or ninja assassins, but their hair still looked perfect.

She has a very spoiled dog, and is lorded over by the world's most evil cat.

It was great!!!

But!! I'm glad my spree ended, I'm ready to read SOMETHING ELSE!!!

Also, the pronoun confusion is really getting to me. It confuses and infuriates me!!!

Also!! TYPOS!!

Things I liked about the whole series:

Well, there was a whole lot of Insta!Love! (tm) going on, but then the characters all just *dithered* about it. Which I actually appreciated quite a lot, because then the love made a lot more sense and connected with me emotionally.

I'm a big fan of the wackiness.

I'm a big fan of the *whack*ness. XD

KASS IS STILL MY FAVORITE.

and I want the next book, gimme!!!!

A lackluster book for the Consortium's most lackluster hero, Julian. Known for his unhelpful, stubborn, and antagonistic nature, Julian remains consistent in his flaws throughout the series. There's always been something endearing about Julian's refusal to cooperate and his fiery outbursts, which I found hilariously entertaining. Delving into his past and witnessing his honest feelings about the team only deepened my affection for him. However, I must admit that finishing this book required some effort. The story felt disjointed, lacked excitement, and suffered from poor pacing. Yet, amidst these flaws, the book delivered some incredibly funny moments that had me in stitches. One of the few highlights of this book was Julian's love story with Bridget—it was awkward, genuine, and incredibly cute. Sadly their romantic comedy was constantly being pushed to the side to shoehold in a plot that felt alien to the story(also, I think there might be aliens now or a least body snatches) What really surprised me was how this book somehow made me fall in love with Montgomery Wells of the Wellsberg Wells, also known as "Robber Baron," one of the most despised characters in the Consortium. If this book can make my Anarcho-syndicalist ass love(like I want to have his privileged babies) a character like Robber Baron, then it's definitely worth a read. Fingers cross that Julian and the rest of the B-team get more love in coming books though, they deserve it!

Another great Consortium book. Personally, this is one of the better ones for me as I don’t love the grumpy/sunshine trope, but you do you.

After reading this I’m dying to find out what Monty is up to next.

This is the fifth book in the series about super villains who despite their best efforts not to end up turning into the unlikeliest of heroes. It's a book for anyone who likes comic books, but with a realistic twist and blurred lines between good and evil, focusing mainly on intentions. The tropes that this books also follows is found family and throughout the series you find the various members of the group coming together and building even stronger bonds even with the most unexpected individuals.

This story out of the series I found myself dreading the most, mainly because throughout the reminder of the series the main male character that's mentioned doesn't seem to make too much of a presence other then to be difficult. However, once you start reading chapters from their POV and start understanding what they have done and how their lives are shaped by the choices of those around them you start to realise that you were wrong about them and make you want to keep the pages turning.

As a lifelong fan of Aquaman I could not wait for a tale with Julian as the lead. The quirky heroine, Bridget was a perfect match for our "merman." I loved the story and the development of Julian. However, I really could have used a little more "heat." The development of the storyline and the set up for the next story was fine, but I wanted more of Julian's love story. Still a great read!!
