He was supposed to hate her, but she saved him instead.
VEGA
A survivor. A warrior. That’s what I’ve become.
After the storm of my last mission, I thought I could reclaim my life. But the darkness of my past wouldn’t let me go, and neither would Adrian King.
He was once my enemy, a man I was trained to despise. But in the chaos, our worlds collided, and everything changed.
Now, as we face a common threat, I found myself drawn to the very person I should fear. His touch ignited a fire within me, and his fierce loyalty awakened a love I never thought I could feel.
I thought I could fight this connection, but Adrian was relentless. He was the one who proved that love can be both a weapon and a shield.
ADRIAN
A puppet. A false king. That’s what I was now.
I’ve fought tooth and nail for revenge, but nothing could prepare me for Vega. She was my enemy, a wild card in my carefully laid plans.
Yet now, as we stood united against a common foe, I couldn’t deny the truth— I would burn the world for the happiness on her face.
She challenged my every instinct, turning my world upside down, and every moment together revealed a bond I never expected.
Our fight wasn’t just for survival; it was for a future I never dreamed I could have.
Vega Konstantinova was mine, and I would fight for us—no matter the cost.
THE PRETTY PSYCHO is a Book 2 in Dark Enemies-to-Lovers Romance Duet St. Vasili's Academy with Mafia elements. This book ends with HEA, but it is recommended to read the full list of triggers, which can be found inside the book as it is intended for mature audiences.
L.K. Reid is a dark romance author who hates slow walkers and people being mean for no reason.
In her opinion, Halloween should be a public holiday, and she also has a small obsession with all things historical—especially Greek mythology. During high school, she wanted to be an archaeologist, and ended up studying law, but obviously neither one of those professions worked out.
If she isn’t writing, she’s most probably watching horror movies, listening to music, reading, or plotting upcoming books.
After reading the first book and really enjoying it I knew I’d be purchasing this straight away on release day, which is what I did..and dived right in..
This started off with a bang..This went that little bit darker making my heart break with the betrayal of the boy she used to love hurting her in the most despicable way and then leaving her to die.
This had so many twists and turns which kept me on my toes, some came at me out of nowhere others I’d guessed but still didn’t take away that shock factor.
These two were perfection together and I loved how he handled her, not with kid gloves but of a man looking at his equal, a man obsessed. Even though her first reaction was to run, I loved how he grounded her.
And then reaching the end and realising that there were a few things not finalised especially one with betrayal hot on her tail which I was hoping was going to get resolved but alas I’m thinking that’s still to come…
Which leaves us all hanging to see what this author has installed for us next..
The story picks up right where book one ended on an epic cliffhanger, we are thrown into an harrowing setting that sees Vega as the unwilling participant, from there, the plot grips us into an endless series of events that will have you at the edge of your seat. Craving the next crumble and savouring each twist and turn.
The rollercoaster of emotions also focuses on Vega and Adrian’s relationship, to say this isn’t an easy one would be an understatement, these two aren’t just toxic, they are damaged beyond repair, their pasts and shadows keep chasing them and blocking their way to freedom. The author does a perfect job in portraying their complicated tale, their growth and development is as hard as rewarding. To see them overcoming their insecurities and ghosts is such a poignant experience I dare you to be unaffected. Ms Reid waves the words in such depth that the connection to her characters becomes natural and just as strong and sentimental. To make this experience even more special the author paints the pages with chemistry, scorching hot moments combined with angst will keep you glued to the pages. Falling for the villain never felt so good or even righter!
Woven into this powerful story the background and the side characters entice you and whet your appetite. The amazing and detailed setting is another attractive feature of this story, reading about the places and ambience made me eager to visit those sites the author portrays with such passion. To top such an adventure that promising glimpse at the end of the story gave me such a giddy feel. Make sure not to miss it when you read the end of this epic duet.
Pretty much the same as the first book in the duet (The Pretty Savage), it wasn't worse or better. The plot was all over the place this time, and the ending was really anticlimactic.
I liked the romance a bit more this time, even though their arguments were really repetitive and started to become a bit annoying.
The author did a good job with the side characters, and I'll probably give their stories a shot, even though I didn't enjoy this duet that much.
War, betrayal, love, new discoveries… everything we saw in the first book, we continue in this sequel and final duet about Adrian and Vega. The book starts with a twisted and cruel event, but when we see the repercussions and how the main couple leads with that, we can see more about the personalities and how the story builds with it. I really liked it and I am really excited to see more about these characters.
"I allowed myself to fall for the one man I was supposed to destroy, and instead of doing what I was trained for, I allowed him to destroy me..."
Adrian and Vega are back and their story was magnificent... Toxic, crazy, but magnificent!!! The story picked up exactly where it left us, and it started with brutality and heartache!!! My poor Vega had gone through hell in the few first chapters in here, and Adrian became her savior in every way possible, even though she was refusing to accept it!!! She just needed tough love cause she was that kind of girl!!! A tough badass with a soft heart that when she loved was with her everything!!! And Adrian was the perfect psycho for her brand of crazy!!!
"I will be your greatest downfall. The hardest burden to bear, because the darkness you fell for needs you more than you need it."
The second installment was equally fast paced, intriguing and full of suspense with the first one!!! In here, we got many answers to our endless questions, but many others had arisen!!! The betrayals were too shocking to not question everything after that!!! Layla had woven masterfully a web full of secrets, betrayals and hidden pieces and I need more of this fabulous, vicious and suspenseful world!!! And I am so happy that I am having more to expect in the form of the rest of the gang...
"If you are my nightmare, then I never want to wake up..."
Vega and Adrian's journey was incredible, even though sometimes I wanted to shake up Vega because of her insecurities!!! These two were the perfect storm and I was so happy that I got caught in the eye of their violent maelstrom!!! And now, I can not wait for more vicious storms in the form of Jax, Dante, Ethan, Arsenye and their girls!!! Layla's talent is undeniable and I just want to read more and more of her intriguing stories!!!
I was so excited for this book. After reading the Pretty Savage and it ending on the huge cliffhanger I could not wait to see what’s next happened next! Even though I did like the first book more this was a great conclusion for the duet. I’m just obsessed with Adrian. I loved how much he cared for Vega. But I will say Vega was getting on my last nerve at some parts. I thought she was a bit repetitive at times and I hated her always running away from Adrian, I wish they were together for more of the book. I love the setting of the book and the side characters are also entertaining and I would love to know more about the group of friends! It was as suspenseful and full of twists and turns.
🖤 Enemies to lovers 🖤 Found family 🖤 Secret society 🖤 Assassin/ mafia vibes 🖤 obsessed/ possessive MMC 🖤 Touch him/her & 💀 🖤 Suspense
First of all fuck Tyler. Like really fuck Tyler. I love when a character is written so well that you instantly hate them. The plot twist with him I honestly didn't see coming. Some of the twists though I did see coming, but they were still enjoyable nonetheless. My biggest gripe with the book was how annoyed I was with Vega. So many issues could've been solved by simple communication instead of running. But I know now that was the intention. Still love her though and how much of a baddie she is. The book only had 2 spicy chapters and honestly it worked well with how the story was going. I really loved the plot and enjoyed how a lot of things were tied together. It was also nice that other things were left open for future stories. Based off of plot, character development and how much I really fucking love Adrian Zylla, I rate this 5/5✨
This one picks up where book one left off with the major cliffhanger that has you worried about Vega. Adrian is worried about her and does everything he can for her. But there a war and which side are you on? There are many twists and turns under we get to the end. I can't say much more about what happens because I don't want to spoil anything for you. I loved this one and was at the edge of my seat worried and biting my nails. Reading as a fast as I can to find out everything. It's a fast paced twisted story, you can't not love. I really enjoyed this one, check out book one because thos isn't a standalone. It's amazingly brilliant read. I loved this one so much !
I struggled to get through this book. I debated multiple times if I wanted to DNF it. The first book was actually pretty good, and I kept my interest. This 2nd book was just soooo annoying to sit through and read of Adrian and Vega going back and forth, making up and breaking up etc. Every chapter they’d make up, and then boom Vega is pissed. I literally was like AGAIN!? I literally felt half the book was just a filler of them going back and forth making up.

"You know," I chuckled, "I didn't want to like you. As a matter of fact, I hated you, Bambi. I hated what you represented. I hated the secrets you had, but most of all, I hated how you made me feel. I hated that I've managed to go through my life with my heart encased in stone, or whatever was left of it, and the moment I saw you on that train it was as if that organ finally woke up. There was nothing else, no one else. I only saw you." I took a deep breath, lowering my head down on the bed right next to her hip, looking up at her face. "I wanted to take you, to hide you, to run away with you, but I knew I couldn't. I knew I had a job to do. I had a plan, and that plan didn't have you in it. But you've managed to do what no one else ever could," I murmured. "You snuck inside, burrowing yourself deep within my bones, creating a home behind my ribs, in my heart, and I know, I just fucking know, that we were meant to be."

✍️ What a series, what a journey!
I've been looking forward to this sequel for months and I read it in a few hours. This is definitely in my Top 5 best books this year and it will have a place of honor on my shelf. The last chapter is incredibly beautiful and emotional and definitely confirms my thinking that the Balkans is the most beautiful place in the world, that it is the our soul and heart ♥️
I love both Adrian and Vega because they are made for each other. Both are strong and independent and at the same time vulnerable and full of pure and unconditional love.
I enjoyed their dialogues, their fight for justice, for friends, for family.
I don't even know what to write because of the excitement, it's a wonderful series and I can't wait for the next parts in which I'll hang out with the characters from St. Vasili's Academy.
Thank you LK Reid for this opportunity , you are the best 💪♥️
Hvala ♥️♥️♥️

I fucked up. "I'm sorry," I whispered, barely able to look at him. "You have no idea how sorry I am, Arseniy. You have no—" But instead of the grumble he so often used whenever he wasn't happy, or the scowl I expected to see, he pulled me into a hug, wrapping his arms around me, and until the dam inside of me broke, I had no idea how much I needed it. How much I craved the touch from another human being. "I need her to wake up, man," I murmured, tightening my arms around him. "I can't… I don't want to live without her." "We know," Dimitri answered from behind us. "We know, Adrian." My throat clogged as I detangled myself from one of my best friends, looking at the face that reminded me so much of the girl sleeping not too far away from us. I had no idea how I'd missed it when I first met her, but the two of them had the same sharp features, the same nose, the same shaped eyebrows. I guess I was too blinded to see it because I didn't want to.
The second book in Adrian and Vega's gripping saga plunges us deeper into their dark and turbulent world. As a continuation of their story, this installment cannot be read as a standalone—so if you haven’t read book one yet, do yourself a favor and start there before diving in.
Picking up right where the first book left you on an epic, jaw-dropping cliffhanger the story wastes no time throwing you into a harrowing and heart-pounding scenario. Vega finds herself an unwilling participant in a situation that spirals into a relentless series of events. The pacing is electrifying, keeping you hooked as you crave every tiny morsel of the plot while savoring the twists and turns that make this book impossible to put down.
Beyond the edge-of-your-seat action, this book delves even deeper into the complex and volatile relationship between Adrian and Vega. To say their love is toxic is an understatement but the spice is ohhh so hot!!!
"I want you to remember that I love you," "Because I'm about to fuck you like I hate you, Bambi."
Damaged beyond repair, both characters are haunted by their pasts and the shadows that relentlessly pursue them, making every step toward freedom and healing a painful struggle. Their journey is raw and brutal, paved with blood, betrayals, half-truths, and lies, making their road to a happy ending feel both distant and uncertain.
What truly sets this book apart is its emotional rollercoaster. L.K. Reid masterfully weaves a story that explores not only action, suspense and spice but also the layers of pain and passion that define Adrian and Vega’s bond. You’ll find yourself rooting for them even as their flaws frustrate you a testament to the depth and nuance of their characterisation.
The wider story world also continues to expand in fascinating ways, leaving me eager for the upcoming spin-offs. Yolanda’s betrayal of her best friend Vega raises so many questions where has she gone, and what exactly happened between her and Jax, who was left in a critical condition? Is everything as it seems, or is there more to the story? These lingering mysteries ensures that I will be anxiously awaiting the next installment.
In short, this book is a thrilling continuation of a dark, messy, and utterly compelling story.
⚠️ Trigger warnings are not just a courtesy here they are vital so check prior to reading!
I was given an ARC for my honest review.
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Burn:🔥🔥🔥.5 Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️ Darkness:🖤🖤🖤 POV: Dual Ending: HEA
This is book 2 in the St. Vasili's Academy series. I read the first book in the series in February 2024. I will admit it took me a bit to get back in the story this time around. Solely for the fact that I've read a lot of books between February and now. I do understand though that it takes time for the author to complete their work. What got me back in this second book was Adrian discovering Vega. I did remember that huge cliffhanger but all the small details from book one? No, not without re-reading.
If Vega said she wasn't a victim one more time, I couldn't have stood it. What's worse, was Vega trying to convince Adrian or herself? Vega was a tremendously strong person, so to see her break down and be so uncertain in this book, was definitely out of character. Literally, Vega knows how to kill men infinitely larger than herself. On the other hand, Adrian is more determined than ever! Adrian may never let Vega out of his sight in the meantime. I think Vega was quickly finding out that the difference between Adrian and who had control over her all her life, was respect. Adrian respected his people, and that made all the difference, even if they lost.
No wonder none of these people can admit their feelings. Love was a concept that was never modeled for them growing up. So as adults, I think the way any of them can prove their love is not with words but actions. Honestly, sometimes words are empty and the actions are what counts in the end. There's a really big twist that I didn't see coming. Talk about mind blown. I think Vega was always to wrapped up in herself to ever see this coming.
For some reason, out of all the quotes this stuck with me the most. "People often mourn those who leave, or those who are sick, but now I understood that the pain so very rarely lies in the hearts of those that are mourned. It lived inside the souls of mourners, because they had to continue living their lives as if a part of their heart wasn't missing."
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

OMG! The gut-wrenching emotional pain that was thrown at us within the first few chapters, had me sobbing, screaming and on the edge of my seat with stomach churning anger. I was not ready for how much my heart would hurt over everything Vega endures.
Vega is an incredibly strong but vulnerable woman after everything that has happened. She needs time to heal but unfortunately danger is still around every corner.
Adrian has a lot on his plate. He has to rebuild, a war to fight, and a woman he loves that needs his support to heal. But first he needs to beg for forgiveness.
The back and forth banter between Vega and Adrian was filled with pain, heartache, frustration, anger, passion and a love that neither can deny. And their chemistry was explosive and scorching HOT!!! I could not get enough of these two.
This was a fantastic story that was packed with adrenaline inducing moments, violence, drama, danger, emotional turmoil, heartache, and twists and turns that kept me gripping my kindle tightly and turning the pages quickly to see how it all plays out in the end.
The conclusion to that heartstopping cliffy in book 1 . The pretty psycho picks up where it left off , with Vega coming to in a not so lovely space * CHECK THE TRIGGERS AS THEY MIGHT BE TOO MUCH FOR SOME* & Adrian going insanely mad with no idea where vega is .
This is a story of betrayal, self finding, heartache & love. While all being in the middle of a flipping war! Adrian definitely redeemed himself in this book and i absolutely fell inlove with him even more ! Vega is such a beautiful strong character but she did p!ss me off at times . I understand completely what its like to have to learn how to let someone love an takecare of you but woo she was hard headed and I wanted to shake her! But in the end, i think she slowly started to get it . my heart broke an then mended for all the characters on this book .
I cant wait to hopefully get all the others stories as well! L.k. Reid is such an amazing story teller she never fails with drawing me in with her stories! Im sad to be done with this couple but I cant wait to see what's next!
After 10 excruciating months of waiting for the 2nd book, I got sent the TPP Arc because girlie could wait NO LONGER! • This is the 2nd book after The Pretty Savage • Out November 23rd! • 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝑰 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆. • I would have liked to see a bit more dialogue compared to character's inner monologues, but other than that, everything was amazing. I usually predict a lot of things BUT there were a few plot twists I did not see coming! ✨️The betrayal ✨️ The action was there, a lot of personal growth as well (thank god because the constant emotional avoidance from our FMC was not it 🫠), I loved how Vega and Adrian worked through their problems together. • "𝑰'𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒏, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝑰 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒚." • I got the ending I wanted and I hope I get to see what happens with our other characters as well! ❤️ • 𝑵𝒐 𝒈𝒐𝒅𝒔, 𝒏𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔!
Book one was good but this one was a disappointment. 80% of the book was repetitive with the heroine constant denial or pushing the h away cause of too good to be true mantra. Overdone on the self reflection and the actions were weak. The heroine was weak and the traitor was predictable. Basically, the reader was told how great of a fighter the heroine but did not deliver. The explicit SA was added as another self reflections in my opinion. Book two was not needed since it was a repeat of book one on how the heroine acted towards the h. Poor me attitude of I'm not good enough or not believing the h feeling was way too much. The ex coming on to the h jumping and kissing him in front of the heroine did not make sense. The h saying oh I closed my mouth and tried to push her away wasn't believable. This was a disappointment and a wasted read for me.
Book two in the St. Vasili’s Academy series, and like book one, The Pretty Savage, it did not disappoint. You get that completely emotional read with just enough of a rollercoaster ride. You must read book one first, Like if you don't read it you won't know what is going on here, so I strongly suggest it. This one picks up right where we left off and I am so happy it did. Vega is still a bad@ss with just a tad bit of trauma and Adrian is still mad for her, so much that you can't get in his or her way. Yes they have their issues, but who doesn't, this unhinged relationship thrives off of the love/hate. These characters are again Amazing and I'm so glad the storyline starts off strong. Now I will say that this is not a slow burn but it is also not a fast burn either, and I am left hoping for a book three.
I really wanted this one to be better than it was. I loved the first book & was looking forward to Adrian & Vega’s HEA……but it honestly didn’t live up to my expectations.
The back & forth of her loving him and then running away constantly got boring and just kept dragging along.
Tyler being Dain was a plot twist I didn’t see coming, so that was awesome, but we never really got an explanation on how he hid for so long or why he “disappeared” in the first place. His death was also uneventful & I wish Vega could’ve killed him the way she wanted to.
Yolanda being a bad guy came out of nowhere & I don’t really like that we’re left on a cliffhanger with that.
How come Adrian got to have his revenge killing on his father but Vega didn’t get to finish off The Schatten? Why wasn’t that part of the story wrapped in this book? Doesn’t feel like it needs to continue into the next ones.

Book 2 picks up where book 1 left off, there were many twists and revelations in this conclusion, but it's also left us wanting more!!
We knew the road for Adrian and Vega wasn't going to be easy, it's paved in blood, betrayals, small truths and white lies, they've got a long way to go for their happy ending 🥹
Nobody can deny LK knows how to spin a twisted tale, the emotions she is able to weave into her words I'll never fail to astound me!
It's clear these characters have a mind of their own, I had no idea where this story was going to take me but I enjoyed the ride so much! The growth between both Vega and Adrian and their relationship gave me all the feels, even if I did want to bang their heads together quite often 😂
My feelings toward this book are twofold. The story building was peppered with action to keep it interesting and the part I enjoyed most was the action! The way Vega just kicks ass and takes names is next level and I appreciate it so much. Both her and Adrian are deranged and I can’t get enough of it. And while this made it fun to read, there were some plot elements that were not overly complex especially surrounding the back and forth of their relationship. It was in line with the trauma and stress they were dealing with, but the constant flipping of emotions from one chapter to the next was annoying and a major miscommunication trope overload.
I din't remember a lot about the first book in the St. Vasili's Academy series but I do remember enjoying the read. So I was looking forward to reading the second book. However The Pretty Psycho didn't meet my expectations. The pacing was, to me, way too slow: 2/3 in the book and still nothing very meaningful to the main plot happened. The main characters' thought were also quite repetitive which was annoying. Plus, one of the plot twists was easy to guess. I liked the end though. There was a lot of action. And we were left with some questions. I would like to read some of the secondary characters' stories.
This book was filled with so much backstabbing, I'm surprised anyone got away unscathed. A few things I need answered. What happened when she told him she couldn't have babies? What happened with Yo? I imagine that'll be in Jax's story? What about Heinrich? There are so many questions, but I still loved this book & I can only hope that the answers will be in those other books. Definitely recommend if you read the first, but if you need all the answers to the lingering questions, then maybe wait till they're all out. Also, there are some major triggers, so be warned. Otherwise, jump in! I'm on to the next.
The duet I’ve needed since I read the first book last year! I’ve waited so long for this but was so nervous to read incase it didn’t live up to the forts book. But I was so wrong and so mad I held off reading. Incredible incredible duet story! I love all of these characters so much. The deep trauma, the emotion, feelings and pure dark love between the two main characters is just incredible to read. The pure obsession and pure soulmate just hits me in my feels. I love that all the feelings in this book is valid and just a touch or conversations makes things come back to the real world. An amazing book!!
This was a fast paced action packed emotional angsty and intense second book in Adrian and Vegas story and I devoured it! If it’s one thing Leila knows how to write it’s heartbreaking angsty painful betrayals between her characters oh my lawd this story has me up in all my feels! The twist and turns kept coming a painful betrayal and truths uncovered steamy intense sexual tension and the sex scenes were amazing! This was an epic conclusion for these two characters and I can’t wait for what’s coming!
This was kinda of a let down from the previous book. I couldn’t deal with Adrian 😒. Dude was completely lovesick, there was nothing more to his character other than him being enamored with FMC. Like even during the attack at the academy scene, he was focusing on her or what their life could’ve been instead of focusing on the mission. Some other dude had to save him. He was a terrible leader. So much hype about him from other characters perspective but dude couldn’t wait to have sex with his girlfriend until the mission was over. He literally had to make the others wait. Bleh 🤮
One thing (of the many) I love about this author is her strong BA female characters. Vega has been broken and cracked yet keeps going on. She is human so has her breakdowns but that is what makes her character so great. I do love this pair together and their definitely is spice. Along with that is plenty of twists, suspense and action. I really enjoyed this world and eager to spend more time in it.
Continued from book 1. Vega has finally met her match and her future in Adrian, well if the stars align. As secrets, loss and revenge start bubbling to the surface in this hotbed of killers nobody can predict the outcome. Cracking read, as each page is turned another secret, another drama, another lie or truth changes the tidal wave that keeps battering this band of people who have become friends, who have become family and home.
I read the first book so I was able to understand the plot.
I like slow burns… but I found this a slow burn with not much left to the story. I found this book was quite repetitive of book one so I didn’t get much from it.
I do like the characters and I like the style of writing from the author.
I’m just not sold on the book and I’m not sure where the story needed 2 books.
